Not to be too harsh, but I don’t how Tyler even gets work. Maybe he’s cheap to hire, I dunno but his scores are strings and brass bashing with nothing memorable within his scores. No themes, nothing. I keep downloading scores by him thinking he might, just might provide something new and thematic but he doesn’t.

Sorry if I offended any fans out there. Just a personal opinion.

And I’m always amazed how he manages to pull out above-average orchestral scores for all those shitty films he always gets to score. The man desperatly needs some good movie to score, perhaps a comedy or serious drama, or a decent action film, but he seems to be stuck with some obscure thrillers and horror movies or trashy action flicks. I know I wouldn’t be inspired to write a decent score for the 5th instalment of The Final Destination or something like that.
And you should try listening to PARTITION, CHILDREN OD DUNE and EAGLE EYE, those are great scores. And I think this Expendables 2 score is quite enjoyable action score… Cheers

Oh man, Brian Tyler is one of the most talented young composers out there, he just doesn’t have much luck with the film assignments. Just listen to his score for LEGO UNIVERSE (it’s pure orchestral adventurous joy) or TIMELINE (one of the coolest and bad-ass action score out there 🙂

I actually grew to like Brian Tyler’s work thanks to MW3 and Fast Five. I’m actually surprise he is as good as Steve Jablonsky when it comes to scoring action scenes.

Battle: Los Angeles is a really great score, you should check it out…
