In an surprising departure from the series norm, the latest installment of the Etrian Odyssey series features some gorgeous orchestral and ensemble work with the help of series arranger Norihiko Hibino and Shenmue composer Takeshi Yanegawa, as opposed to the typical FM-synth style, with some light rock and rhythm work infused in the battle tracks. It’s mostly light, relaxing, lounge-inspired stuff. Give it a try.

Huge step up from the previous scores in terms of instrumentation and sound quality, but a lot of it is still largely forgettable. Many of the better tracks are looped too much and needlessly long.

Kiiiinda, yeah. I like it a lot, but it’s all a tad sleepy(Norihiko Hibino was on arrangement duty and he makes a business out of relaxing ensemble pieces for sleep therapy) and some of the tracks run over long, but it’s not quite FFXIII-2 bad, that had tracks run over six minutes from looping twice.

Damn, that’s a fast download. 2.1MB/s. And I’m not even maxing it. Unfortunately, this modem/router combo I got blocks me from seeding despite the fact that I turned off the build it firewall on it. But that’s beside the point.

It was going to be a combination of a Drama album & FM sound module versions of the songs.
I’m guessing that something with the voice actors or the story part were holding up the progress too long.
