�Dark Star�, �Assault On Precinct 13� and �The Thing� (iTunes August 2012)

Here�s some John Carpenter goodness I�ve decided to compile for you guys. These three scores were just re-released on iTunes in digital quality!

�The Thing� is the same release as this one from BSX: JOHN CARPENTER’S THE THING – Music from the Motion Picture (http://buysoundtrax.stores.yahoo.net/jocathmufrmo.html)

(Personal note: so many fantastic posters and production art to use for the cover and this is what they ended up with�.?? I almost thought it was an amateur fan recording.)

I have been waiting for a re-release with an awesome sound quality like this one, so I�m terribly happy to have it, after years of listening to some dodgy DVD-Rip. (I also have the original Var. Sar. CD release though, but lots of music is missing from that one)

Now,

�Dark Star� and �Assault On Precinct 13� are being released as a double-feature, but I decided to split them up in two folders.

The sound quality, again, is terrific.

I am not aware of a CD-counterpart for this release, so if you want a digital quality version of �Dark Star� this might be your only option. Anyone who can correct me on this is welcome to do so! 🙂

�Precinct 13� did have some re-releases earlier in the millennium, but I cannot comment on any kind of quality comparison. This iTunes one sounds great though, that’s all I can say.

I am also willing to share my copies with anyone interested � since they�re from iTunes it�s in 256kbps aac/m4a. There�s no DRM.

yes this is re-recordings and not original tracks. Carpenter has nothing to do with them (neither did Morricone on the Thing)

btw, didn’t mean to say that the custom covers guys do shit work, but that i think they could come up with something far nicer than the official cover.

Am I the only one having a problem with track 15 of ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13?

I’ve downloaded ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 twice from the PM’d source link, but "15. Walking Out" cuts out about halfway through the 35 second track, so I guess it’s corrupt. – Just me?

@bbwonder, I PM’d you about this a bit ago but haven’t heard back – so if I hope you won’t mind if I just ask if anyone else here might be able to help me.

Can someone please share with me (through a PM), a pristine version of track 15 "Walking Out" from this ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 – BSX re-recording?

It a very small 35 second track, but I require it to make my album whole as the version I got from bbwonder’s kind link was unfortunately incomplete (and I did download twice to make sure).

Can some valiant soul please come to my rescue in this regard? – Thanks.

Worse case scenario would be to download the one track from Amazon .99 cents for 35 seconds isn’t the best music/dollar ratio I have seen but at least you will have a complete set.

It took me some time to get the correct track but I have it now. I have also been sending out PM’s but apparently not to everyone? Let me know (via PM if possible.)
