Here’s my rip from the stream. I’ve never done this before, so it came out horrible, lol… If anyone can do it better, please do! But in the meantime, here it is:

I find it hard to rip. I tried both the website (bad quality) and YouTube which was better but it had some cuts at the end of some tracks.. Someone better can do it!

The actual bitrate from the YouTube videos from which these were ripped is 160kbps, but the converter encoded the audio at 192kbps. This was beyond my control.

Okay, I ripped the YouTube playlist because it came out less poppy and crackly than my recording rip… The quality isn’t degraded too much. It’s perfectly acceptable for me at least.

The original streams were 144 Kb/s AAC (VBR Average) . If you convert to MP3 you have to up the bitrate a bit to achieve the same quality of AAC! I chose VBR V2.

I’ve been examining the code while listening to it, usually with these sorts of things can find the code for each file, usually just a randomly generated mix of characters which when added to the correct URL (once found) will allow you to save the files directly from their source, but with this one, not been able to find it, they’ve hidden it extremely well! Anyone else having any luck?

well….for me it’s a little deception , i think the score is better in the movie but dont work good alone

I downloaded the flv-file from that site and then demuxed the audio directly from those files – AAC, CBR 128 Stereo, 44100 Hz. So whatever else is put up here and in any other thread has been re-converted and thus lowered the quality even more.

Edit: Use StreamTransport to download th FLV-files and then FLV Extract to demux the original audio files from those. But then again it might seem more exclusive if you could get them converted to 320 mp3s? Well then, tough luck, because all you will get is something with WORSE quality than the original files. If you want those, use the method i described here.

I Had to! That’s Way I upped the bitrate, MP3 is way more supported than RAW AAC and so is preferred for downloading!

I would have to reencode anyway because ADTS streams are not compliant with most audio players, M4A is the official extension; and you have to consider that most portable audio players and CD/DVD players support MP3 Only! I could upload it but it wouldn’t make sense!

we could go on and on about this, but if you should consider quality (which there isn’t much of to start with) you should upload both and let people chose for themselves. If they want the best quality available as of right now – get the AACs. If you wan to be able to play them in portable and standalone players – get the MP3s. And EVERY computer with winamp/VLC/foobar can play the AACs.

Besides, see it from the bright side 😉 i’m helping you up your number of posts…

The CD presentation is awful. Most of the cues are blended.

How do you know the trailers music are not in the movie ? (and thus possibly on an ‘expanded’ or ‘complete’ version of the score)

AFAIK, the trailers music doesn’t necessarily come from the recording sessions, even if the composer is the same. And if Zimmer didn’t even need a big orchestra for these music, if he made them on his own on his computer or whatever, can we still call that "recording sessions" ?

Talking of Zimmer and trailer music, I am still thinking back after all these years of the fantastic music he did for one of the "The Peacemaker" trailers, music that never ever saw the light of day in any way shape or form, official or not. So that would be a thrill if any trailer music could be available as a bonus from the recording sessions ^^

Is it just me who is massively disappointed in the score? Not much new material imo, not many interesting cues and overall it just feels mixed together. I don’t say it’s a bad score though but for me it’s a disappointment. Or I’m I wierd?

The CD presentation is awful, there’s no coherency and it feels like they put lots of cues from different scenes of the movie, splitted and edited togheter.

Lol, it’s funny to see people their reactions of Zimmer albums. Usually they complain that it are suites and not original tracks. Now this time Zimmer said he was gonna focus on album that gives a good interpretation of the movie and used actual movie cues and now people complain that it are just random cues… And when a full score leaks then people start saying "well, so many short cues and alternates is very boring"

Lightdevil, I hear you… I’m still listening to the stream, but I am hoping the complete/expanded score will offer more. However, I don’t want to over hype the movie in my head, because I want it to be EPIC. So, let’s see what happens.

I’m not "complaining" i’m just criticizing it a bit saying that i’m disappointed in it so far and was curious if i’m alone thinking this as a Zimmer fan.

I hope that I still can get into liking it more after giving it a few more listens but so far it dosen’t feel that good as I expected it to be.

I also hope that we can get another version of it in the future (expanded/complete/recording sessions) since I really enjoy some parts of the score.

Well, I do prefer the complete score with the music how it was originally composed. Inception’s CD presentation was much more better than this one.

He composed the emotional pieces and especially for the scenes for Harvey Dent.

Howard said that Zimmer and Nolan knew what they were doing, and that he would be a fifth wheel essentially.

I wholeheartedly agree. To be fair the quality is not good to begin with, even for a 128 kbit/s AAC LC file, but I don’t see a valid excuse for making it worse.

As for compability, the raw AAC files can quite easily be wrapped into a MP4/M4A container without any reencoding using tools such as Yamb or dbpowerAMP.

Personally I’ll wait for a higher quality rip or the CD, whatever comes first.

That’s because if you were playing it on CD or playing the iTunes tracks with no gap in between (gapless playback), the tracks would flow from one to the other without interruption as if three separate tracks were just one.

It might fix the problem, but since these files were taken from a website stream, the pops in between might not be fixable.

When the score is officially released in its various formats it’ll be better than this obviously.

I downloaded MOTP’s link from the first page and imported it into itunes. Re-number the tracks into the correct order, as they’ll import without track numbers. Once that’s done it should play correctly with no gaps or pops. It did for me.

The EndGah. I hate it when they make you buy two releases. On another note: except for the "deshi-ba-sa-ra" motif or whatever its called, all of the other thematic material seems to be from TDK. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I really enjoyed Zimmer’s themes/motifs from TDK. At times though, it feels as though he copied and pasted mixes/samples/excerpts from TDK. I just would have liked to have heard more new material. I also really dislike how all of the Nolan Batman scores have been presented on CD…the recording sessions seem to always offer a better experience.

For the most part. I actually prefer the subtle differences in instrumentation and how it draws out The Dark Knight motif much slower in Rise. That’s my favorite theme in these movies so I’m glad Zimmer didn’t drop it like he did the Batman Begins theme; which never had a chance to properly grow, sadly.

Thanks for this post i am able to listen to the score. It wasn’t exceptional but not bad either. Most part you could here themes from the games which is not bad yet considering he’s a bigger composer than those that made the game he should have made something more original to the music and not just modify and remix the score. I swear it was like listening to a score from his Black hawk Down only this time with more booming noise and muttering chorals that tends to be repetitive and flat. I like the more subtle part of the score but over all it wasn’t the best from the trilogy and the two previous scores looks richer and better than his solo effort here.

Well, the fact is simple, NO ONE has the score now, the score you find here and everywhere else is a rip from the empire online preview. They all probally rip different, buuuuut the source is the same. The score will be available from the 07.17 so you can�t find a real rip till then (probally iTunes has it first).

However… I am quite disappointed in Soundtrack as a whole. Nothing new really. TDK and BB both have better Scores. And biggest let down for me is the fact that music from the trailers is not included.. MTV Trailer, Trailer 3, Trailer 5(Journey) they all have excellent music attached to them.. and I would rather have them on the CD than some remix or recycled music from previous Batman flicks.

I understand your feelings but I think there is some new stuff at least to keep me interested
but knowing Zimmer, the movie itself will have enough stuff to make me want the Recording sessions 🙁

edit: also at least the trailers mostly have excellent rips, and trailer music is rarely on a movie score

Back to the topic. Well, it’s nothing spectacular. There are plenty scores like that. Great thing about BB & TDK soundtracks is that you can listen to them like regular music. TDKR score is far from that.

However, I like 2 songs: Gotham Reconing (damn, WHY wasn’t this cue more explored? WHY) and Underground Army. The rest is meh.. In my opinion of course.

As for the trailer music. Yes, rips are great but I would love to hear longer versions (if they exist). They sound like Zimmers work to me. Plus I really need to get Trailer 5 music. It’s EPIC my friends..

well I rarely have a problem with listening to music that doesnt often work on its own
(I liked TGWTDT’s score a lot for instance)
so I guess this score is more my thing, though some tracks do stand out more than others (and yes Gothams Reckoning is awesome)
