Ever wonder what specific songs from specific games would sound like if they were on the NES? No? Oh…okay then.

Anyway, for those who did, you’re out of luck; because whatever songs you were thinking of probably didn’t make it here. But you know what? Mine did. Ha-ha!

I noticed that the NES soundfont hasn’t been getting a lot of love lately, even by me. So I took 76 MIDIs and ran them through the soundfont. They’re just a random collection of things I specifically picked from stuff I like, including Sonic, Final Fantasy, Wild ARMs, MegaMan, Romancing SaGa, Klonoa, Mario, etc. I even threw in the intro to a once-popular anime as a bonus.

All the filenames are correct, in alphabetical order and have what game they came from in the name. Most of the songs I picked, I tried to make sure they sounded like they could come from the NES, as opposed to just applying the soundfont at random. Some songs just had too many sounds to sound like an NES track. Unfortunately, the early morning wore on close to bedtime, so there are a few songs that are just there because I like them and not because they sound convincingly NES-y.

So yeah, the usual: blablablaMIDIthroughSoundfontToMP3blabla.

I don’t ask for your thanks in return, just take this thing or leave it. I just happen to be a wandering nomad, uploading things as he passes by.
