[Game] Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (Various Artists) (2013) [FLAC] (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/%5Bgame%5D-dragons-dogma-dark-arisen-various-artists-178348)
thanks 🙂
I try to release the highest quality rips in whichever formats I choose (FLAC or OGG). If you don’t like the format I upload, feel free to transcode it yourself 🙂

OGG is not a codec; it’s a container. The audio inside it is called Vorbis – which is also an outdated lossy codec – and its sound quality benefits in comparison MP3 are only really realised at lower bitrates. At higher bitrates Vorbis and MP3 are about even. That said, there’s nothing wrong with Vorbis other than that most devices can’t play it.
I absolutely agree with your wish to upload the highest possible quality… but I feel like the benefits of Vorbis may not justify the numerous problems. Particularly when you encode Vorbis at such a high bitrate; all the drawbacks of lossy encoding, at a bitrate not far off straight lossless.
Of course folk can transcode to whatever they like – but in all honesty and with the greatest respect, I think that Vorbis uploads might not be beneficial to anybody. The sensible standard at the moment seems to be a lossless FLAC encode and a LAME -V0 encode (VBR ~240kbps) for portable use or folk who don’t want FLAC.
Not trying to get at you; just some opinions which you should feel free to ignore if you so desire. 🙂
Thank you for this rip – I’m not enjoying the score though there are some good moments. Since the CD has yet to materialise online (as far as I know) this is most, most welcome. 🙂
Negima: Don’t you think it’s worth your while learning how to transcode, rather than restricting your downloads by refusing to take anything in any format other than the ones you’re used to? FLAC to ALAC is easy. FLAC to MP3 is easy.
The uploaders of music generally try to provide the highest possible quality (lossless) and usually select a format which is universally compatible (FLAC) to make it easy for downloaders to create whatever they need.
It’s not hard to learn. Foobar2000 is excellent, free, and there are so many guides available online you’ll have no chance of getting it wrong. 🙂
Hey Chief,
your JDownloader Container contains Survivor Season 3 and some zip file – but no 5.1 FLAC Dragons Dogma Soundtrack ^^
Fixed it up now.
How is the re-upload going?
PM me also if you have any problems 🙂
Enjoy 🙂
Edit: Some of them are now expired though 🙁
