I have use the tracknames, artists and track order as listed by Graeme Norgate, ge credits (http://www.graemenorgate.com/007)
They are, as the title suggests, FLACs … no logs…. not even a twig <_<, and 48000 Hz.
Not much to say really…. I did however, boost the sides so that there’s more stereo separation, but not so much that the central sound is completely drowned out or anything, and added some reverb.
I quite liked how it turned out personally, but I’ll leave that for you to decide whether it sounds OK, or good, or "MY EARS! ZE EARMUFFS DO NUZZING"!
I’m sure your edits make the tracks sound better, but I thought the point of lossless was to keep copies of CD’s/originals intact. If you change it, does it still count as lossless?
I expect assett1 will do a better job, when he gets round to doing this one.
At least I tagged them properly, and put the proper artists. Almost all the other rips just use the same, and incorrect, I must say, tags from the USFs!
Unless there’s another reason why this topic is being COMPLETELY ignored.
I did also feel that the tracks were a bit mono-y so I’m definitely going to download your rip and look forward to hearing your enhancements. I saw your discussion in the other more recent thread for Goldeneye–but I don’t know how that’s relevant, apart from the fact that there really must be an official soundtrack for this game, just like there was for some of the other classics like Donkey Kong Country (SNES, of course), Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, etc.
I’ll leave you with a "picture that cannot be unseen" of Goldeneye’s game cover:
i ignored this at first, thought it was a re-upload. see if I find an old download and compare, and then give you proper thanks if that one sounds nicer to me 😉
guess I never cared much for that thing yet, despite it being from rare, which, in hindsight, seems stupid
This might just be my false memory or ancient misconceptions, but to me it feels like the people who spend tireless hours on their edits/rips don’t nearly get the amount of gratitude as those who simply throw in 15 bucks to buy a regular old OST that most everyone is well capable of purchasing themselves. I know that was a bit of a run-on sentence, but do you see what I’m getting at? But, again, that could just be a thing about film scores; like I said, I don’t know how many whiners, bitches, and/or ungrateful people are allowed to come by the VG downloads forum.

I think your rip has more tracks than that "original soundtrack" we’ve seen references to in several places. That OST is incomplete–I think it did not include any of the music for the multiplayer fields as well as some other minor tracks such as the ones you’ve named "Runway Plane" and "Captured".
First thing I noticed immediately about your "Main Titles" rip: I was listening to it on earbuds with the volume I always have it set at, and the amplitude of the very start of the track kind of hurt my ears. Other than that, the other tracks I’ve taken a glimpse at in Audacity don’t appear to be suffering from over-amplification and/or clipping. I am liking the expanded stereo field–and I don’t think it is too extreme. I don’t know that I like the reverb too much–I mean it adds…but I don’t exactly what it is adding, lol (aside from reverb, of course).
I mean, listen to this:
Goldeneye Music – Surface 2 – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNaK05knMD4) — it’s relatively acceptable, in volume (I hope)
Then listen to this:
Goldeneye 007 64 Soundtrack – Main Theme – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGxubrgpELU) — is this not much louder? The thing is, it’s only those four notes that the intro that are like being shot at close range in the ear, then it’s just normal after that.

What on Earth makes you think there was an official soundtrack. Not every single game actually has a soundtrack. Where are the soundtracks to:
Super Mario Sunshine
New Super Mario Bros
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Mario Kart DS
Super Mario 3D Land
Mario Kart 7
Donkey Kong Land
and so on.
NONE of the above games have an official sound track. If there is, where’s the official CD case? And even the official CD (i.e an image of them)?

Didn’t you read the post that you quoted? That’s what on Earth made me think there was an official soundtrack–the one that was posted here: http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/goldeneye-007-ost-rip-114279/#post2000972. Do you even know what the word "official" signifies? It’s typically something that can be bought.
And where did you get the thought I was implying that ALL video games have an official soundtrack? I totally agree with you that the games you listed do not have official purchasable soundtracks, but given the evidence I can find if I look around a bit, I do believe that Goldeneye did actually have one.
I thought I was a negative person around here, but out of all the compliments, thoughts, and suggestions I gave you, you chose to pick out the smallest, most insignificant detail and get all nit-picky about it. Looks like it was my mistake coming into unfamiliar waters, here. Alternatively, maybe this is why nobody posted in your thread.

Viewing the Main Titles track in Adobe Audition, I can see that, with those first notes, that the left channel is 1.632% clipped and the right is 2.546% clipped–by far the largest values I’ve ever seen in all the audio that I had previously thought was clipped. However, with the version of that track I have from the "OST", while the first bit still shows clipping, those respective values are just 0.154% and 0.244% (which, granted, is still higher than what I normally see).
Just search for images of the OST, or just search VGMDb. There’s no official soundtrack of Goldeneye 64. I’ve already proven it, yet you STILL think there is. There isn’t one.
And even if there was, they’d have proper tags. Not stupid things like "The Basement", which is actually the beta Jungle music, or "Unsquare Water Dance" which is actually ‘Jungle Perimeter’. The only unused stage theme that the tagger of the USF got correct was "Citadel".

Cool down, Dimensioner never said there was an OST. trust me on this, he’s perfectly aware of the difference between an OST and a rip. what he probably meant was "with the version of that track I have from [that so called OST even if I doubt it is official in any way], etc, etc, yadda, yadda, yadda."
Anyway, can’t wait to hear your rip, the only music I had from this game, I had ripped it myself and…I’m not good at gamerips. :p
@The Ultimate Koopa: I’ll have you know that I am a skilled and recognized expert in the Art of "Arguing About Things That Don’t Really Matter That Much". If you care to continue arguing over things that don’t matter that much or otherwise misinterpret things that I say, I’m game to keep going.
How could anyone misinterpret that?
You could misinterpret it to be actual 100% fact. I was just saying that I felt, based on my own personal experiences and encounters, that there was an official soundtrack for Goldeneye. I did not say, "I know for a fact that Goldeneye had an official soundtrack because I saw it in stores when the game was new and I did actually buy it; it is in my possession in physical form as we now speak." No, I didn’t say that.
Oh, look, here’s another website that has the "soundtrack" to download, one track at a time: Goldeneye N64 Songs (http://media.007unleashed.com/goldeneyen64songs.html)
I think I may have downloaded my version from *********–which our site keeps censoring the hyperlink to, so I guess you can’t see where it is–back when they had a downloads section; a collection of video game music that was rather vast and seemingly unending.
What’s this? Here’s the Goldeneye Original Soundtrack posted right here on Galbadia Hotel: Goldeneye_Original_Soundtrack MP3 Downloads (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/121)! Who cares if original soundtrack means "someone bought a physical CD and ripped the music" or if it means "a long time ago, back when emulators were new or whenever people found ways to rip music from N64 games, a guy did a rip of Goldeneye 007 and that really old rip has been circulating around for so long that everyone just sees it as the Goldeneye OST"? You know, sorta like this guy: http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/goldeneye-007-ost-rip-114279/#post2000972?
EDIT: Oh, wait! Now that I think about it, what exactly does the O in OST stand for? Is it official or original? Does that change any perspectives over this Argument Over Something That Doesn’t Really Matter? When I put my mouse over the dotted/underlined abbreviation "OST", it says "Original Soundtrack"….
IMO, I wish they did release a soundtrack. Preferably remastered, since the original 22047 Hz sucks.
Compare the difference between the music in Turok 2: Seeds of Evil for the N64, and the versions on the Violence Killer Turok: New Generation soundtrack…
The Goldeneye 007 soundtrack, if there was one, should be like this. Better quality than the in game versions, but not completely rearranged.
Though really, learning what you’re doing should come before you start releasing stuff online…
EDIT: I ‘amplified’ to 0 dB in Goldwave, but it’s like 50% as loud as other tracks.
Blame Grant Kirkhope for making it too loud in the first place.
so, since I’m not an audio expert in any sense of the word, no good feedback from me
but still, thanks for uploading.
I would really appreciate it[COLOR="Silver"]
Oh well, I just have to upload them separately.
Or would, if I wasn’t so reluctant. I mean, the version I had uploaded had too much stereo widening, and any sound that was not on the center was louder, and if it was completely panned 100% to either side, such as the two notes of the main intro, it was ear-piercingly loud, as was mentioned.
So, do I just upload a crappy USF-FLAC conversion?
Or should we see if Mr.Assett2 can use his magic on them to make them WORTH being FLACd?
Either that, or DEMAND that an official soundtrack is released (with remastered sound, and not just a crappy "USF conversion").
Joe.
Okay, I know this post has nothing to do with Goldeneye 007, but I wasn’t sure where else to post it other than one of your Threads. So, I chose the one that had been accessed the most recent… Sorry…
Also, you could have just sent me a PM 😛
The best way to get the best quality, is to download the BRSTMs, and then convert them to MP3. You’ll need vgmstream and foobar2000 (Winamp is old) to at least play the BRSTMs, and therefore, convert them.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Music (http://brawlcustommusic.com/game/214)
It looks like it’s not there… unless it’s just under a different name? IDK. I’ll have to try and upload it. But it’s not simple.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Sorry, but I’ve never Uploaded any of my soundtracks onto any website or forum. Mainly because I don’t know how. Sorry, but you’re mistaking me for someone else…
If you’re mistaking me for The Ultimate Koopa, I was merely complimenting the Quality, length, etc. of his Game Rips. Sorry if I confused anyone…
By the way… Anyone got the full GameRip of Super Mario 64 DS (DS) in High Quality without the SFX? I’ve been searching for quite some time for that one…
And… Um… UltimateKoopa, would it be OK if you made a Link to the Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (GBA) Tracks "Agony / Witch’s Agony" & "Bowletta Anger"? I think the reason they’re missing on the Custom Brawl Music website is mainly because "Agony / Witch’s Agony" is a slowed-down version of "Cackletta’s Theme", which plays right after the "Final Cackletta Battle". While "Bowletta Anger" is the sped up version that plays when you confront Bowletta, right before you Battle her at Bowser’s Castle. I tried to edit your "Cackletta’s Theme" Track, but the quality got really bad after I edited it, Mainly because how slow & fast the Tracks are to the Original "Cackletta’s Theme". I tried looking on YouTube, but all of those tracks were taken from the middle of the theme and not the beginning; except for one, and the Quality he had was awful. I think the reason that about 99.9% of the people Uploaded from the middle, could be because they didn’t know how to get rid of the SFX. Please, I just need those two Tracks, so a Link to them would be alright. Thanks in advance!
