I was wondering if anybody here had the soundtrack for 2001: A Space Odyssey and/or Wendy Carlos’s score for A Clockwork Orange in FLAC???

I just finished watching 2001 in it’s entirety, and it was very beautiful! What I think added to it’s beauty was the music that Kubrick chose for the film (even though the art direction and cinematography was absolutely stunning as a stand alone). I heard about Alex North’s unused film score- wonder how that might have affected the film. Shame MGM didn’t include some sort of alternate score option for the Blu-ray release.

As for Carlos’s work, I had the remastered version of A Clockwork Orange, but in attempt to up disc space a few months ago, I deleted most of it. I would love to have it again! Likewise, does anyone have the soundtrack featuring music not composed by Carlos?

I’ve found some dead links all over, hopefully someone can re-post or PM the soundtracks/scores!

Kubrick truly was a visionary.

Intrada Records released the whole recorded rejected score by North; sold out, as I recall, but you can still hunt around for a copy.

Frank Cordell’s rejected score, is still unreleased.

Thanks for the info!!

Finally managed to find links for 2001: A Space Odyssey (soundtrack, not the scores) and Wendy Carlos’s score for A Clockwork Orange in FLAC!!!

Now I just need the A Clockwork Orange soundtrack (with music featured in the film) in FLAC.

I will post links to my two finds in an hour or two. Funny enough, they were posted two days ago!

I also managed to find the A Clockwork Orange soundtrack in FLAC (so now I have Carlos’s score, and the soundtrack featuring other music played in the film).

I would love your copy of 2001, if you wouldn’t mind! I’ll upload my finds in a while.

Hey, I was wondering if I could get some advice on the ACO soundtrack I downloaded? I was reading the logs, and it said this:

Exact Audio Copy V0.99 prebeta 3 from 28. July 2007

EAC extraction logfile from 3. December 2007, 21:49

Various / A Clockwork Orange

Used drive : HL-DT-STDVD-RAM GSA-H20L Adapter: 2 ID: 0

Read mode : Secure
Utilize accurate stream : Yes
Defeat audio cache : Yes
Make use of C2 pointers : No

Read offset correction : 102
Overread into Lead-In and Lead-Out : No
Fill up missing offset samples with silence : Yes
Delete leading and trailing silent blocks : No
Null samples used in CRC calculations : Yes
Used interface : Installed external ASPI interface
Gap handling : Appended to previous track

Used output format : User Defined Encoder
Selected bitrate : 192 kBit/s
Quality : High
Add ID3 tag : No
Command line compressor : C:\Programme\Exact Audio Copy\flac.exe.

Because it says "Selected Bitrate: 192", does that mean it’s NOT a genuine lossless rip, even though it’s in FLAC?

Here is the first track: http://www.filefactory.com/file/2mdtzkaj379h/n/01_-_Henry_Purcell_-_Title_Music_from_A_Clockwork_Orange.flac

Can someone please do an analysis of it?

I honestly think there was only the one score.

I do know that it was re-released a second time, and that is composed of the original recordings. The first release was re-recorded by the guy who assisted the first composer.

No, Cordell’s score was mostly arrangements of classical music. He tried to get it released, but passed away. His wife has been trying to get it out since his death, so it’s been a long time and no release.

When ripping to FLAC in EAC, the bitrate setting does not matter…you can set it to anything you want and it will still come out at whatever bitrate it can based on the FLAC settings in the command line for external encoder…
