Most of the songs in the film were terrible though. Seeing this list of artist I honestly don’t recognize a single artist on it.

I’m sure it’ll be great. JNH would be my first choice of composer if I heard the premise of this film. It’s exactly up in his alley.

JNHwrote 80 minutes of music for the movie in four weeks. And we all know that he works Better under pressure. I’m surprised on How there’s not a single sample of the score and how late the tracklist was released.

That doesn’t mean anything. Almost every composer at some point was called in as the 2nd choice, some more than once. JNH has composed way too many scores as the first composer of choice so he’s certainly not the 2nd guy to go to. He’s one of the best composers at the moment, imho better than Elfman actually. And I wish that he alone did Batman scores, then we’d have much more interesting action scores rather than typical Zimmer droning for the Batman franchise.
Ok so for a 2 and a half hour movie, we get 44 minutes of score?!?! That’s some bullshit!! This is worse that RCP!!
I’m not too concerned. Some label will get the expanded or complete release in due time. It may take 10 years, but it will come out. And besides, it could be downright terrible so it being mostly cut in half could very well be a blessing!
:sigh: someone will up it though. want it before the premiere

Yes but it’s not unheard of that scores getting released in different countries before the U.S. release date, so it’s quite possible that it’s been printed in Canada already.
Edit: Actually it seems like it is, roundmedia on amazon.ca is selling it and says they have it in stock.

And B.) "Abraham’s Daughter" by Arcade Fire is NOT the one James Newton Howard did for the ANTHEM, not "hymn", of the capitol. James Newton Howard made an orchestral version of "Horn Of Plenty", which is listed in the above list, it was written by Arcade Fire, and redone for the movie by James Newton Howard as the Anthem of the Capitol. Read more about it here:
Arcade Fire’s ‘Horn of Plenty’ is the “national anthem of the facist Capitol” for the movie’s score – HG Girl On Fire (http://www.hggirlonfire.com/2012/03/02/arcade-fires-horn-of-plenty-is-the-national-anthem-of-the-facist-capitol-for-the-movies-score/)
And you never know more music may pop up different places since there are some addition music artists listed. And the orchestrator for Star Trek put up cues on his site so im sure we’ll get some extra stuff eventually. Sorry to seem rude by the way, just making sure we all have correct information here, i’ve done my research, i’ve also already gotten the source tracks (which are also not necessarily "Source tracks" they could just be songs used at any point in the movie, I highly doubt that "Farewell", "A Wasp On Her Abdomen", or "Sediment" would be "Source" music which is music coming from a source in the film. A Wasp On Her Abdomen sounds especially good for some point in the forrest.
Oh okay lol. Forgiven XD. Just making sure we had the whole thing here. I apologize for if i came off as a douche though

Damn.. I would buy it, but it dosen’t work for me. Just got a new card and account, so guessing I have to acativate it first, bummer 🙁

Not according to the official twitter account but I believe you. 🙁
I know, right? Had I known that before I had to go through and purchase it, I would have bought it on iTunes or Amazon where it was cheaper and 1000% more reputable.

Yeah it’s just the pre-order but i went ahead and bought it. I also might go buy that collector’s cd to get the "Deep In The Meadow (Lullaby)" song

Though counting the missing pieces from the CD it’s not more that between 50 and 60 minutes of music. So, there’s 20 minutes of unused music.
Omm…not in the US. Unless I just can’t find it. I searched Hunger Games in albums, I searched soundtrack genre, I searched James Newton Howard – ziltch.
Score was awesome. Mutt chase scene <3 A solid B+ from me.

Okay okay, the whole thing seems to be very confusing for everyone, so let me clarify:
"Abraham’s Daughter" by Arcade Fire is a song they made for the movie. It is featured as the first track and is the opener to the ending credits.
IN ADDITION TO "Abraham’s Daughter" they also COMPOSED an ADDITIONAL song for the movie called "Horn Of Plenty" which JAMES NEWTON HOWARD made an Orchetral/Choral Version to be used in the film.
So, this means Abraham’s Daughter does not equal Horn Of Plenty. James Newton Howard did not COMPOSE Horn Of Plently, but he did an orchestral/ choral arrangement of it for the film. Arcade Fire COMPOSED BOTH songs.
Here is my source: Arcade Fires Horn of Plenty is the national anthem of the facist Capitol for the movies score – HG Girl On Fire (http://www.hggirlonfire.com/2012/03/02/arcade-fires-horn-of-plenty-is-the-national-anthem-of-the-facist-capitol-for-the-movies-score/)
Read it carefully, the quote from Arcade Fire themselves explains the whole situation. Hopefully this will prevent anymore confusion. Arcade Fire, composed it as an excersize, they have not recorded it themselves. It was a contribution to the movie’s score. And Abraham’s Daughter was a contribution to the movie’s soundtrack. Thank you. I hope i helped clear this up

Thanks for sharing! Could anyone please send the uploader a message if he/she is willing to share it? I can’t figure out how to send a message with the new layout, lol.
The full score is here.
Sounds very low-key and boring. No instantly memorable themes except possibly Horn of Plenty, and not a single memorable action cue. It’s probably either the director or T-Bone Burnett to blame. JNH could have delivered a powerhouse of a score with this material. Looking forward to Snow White though.. thanks for sharing the link!
What did T-Bone Burnett do? Sorry, but I have no clue who he is and i’m really curious. Did he compose some of the cues or what?
And like I expected, the score is very I Am Legend/The Happening like. It could have been worst, it could have been pure noise ala Green Lantern, but no, JNH respected the source material and brought a lot of emotion, and the orchestra, ethnic instruments and choir are very well used. And the JNH sound is there, recognizable as always.
And this is the first movie, JNH is going to develop his themes much more better on the sequel.

It’s perfect for the movie. It’s not a typical generic fantasy film, it’s very gritty and realistic in some parts. This is half of the 80 minutes that JNH wrote for the movie. The music like JNH said, it’s focusing on Katniss’s feelings. The country bits are the kind of sound that T-Bone Burnett and Danny Elfman wanted to bring since the shooting started, especially with the songs performed on the movie. Horn Of Plenty and Katniss’s theme are amazing and I can’t take it out of my mind.

Yeah I know I saw the movie and thought how the music could’ve been more memorable and have a bigger impact. There are a few pieces that sounded wonderful in the movie (primarily Horn of Plenty) but it’s just anonymous for the rest of the score, which is a bit disappointing given the popularity of the books and film. No instantly recognizable theme for this franchise either, I guess… hopefully it gets better in the sequels yeah
Ah.. Cheers for the info. Horn of Plenty seems to be made originally by Arcane Fire if I read right, but all is credited to James Newton Howard it seems, atleast what I have seen so far.
It’s credited to James Newton Howard because, technically it’s HIS arrangment of the song COMPOSED by Arcade Fire. They don’t flat out put EVERY artist of the songs on the back of the CD, there’s just not enough space. I’m sure it’s mentioned in the booklet about the whole deal with Horn Of Plenty, just think of the Angels and Demons OST. Some of those cues had like 4 Composers on them, but they were all written to Hans Zimmer just to simplify things. It happens. I’m sure however, in the booklet (as always) everyone is credited. Now that that’s out of the way, here’s the Score + Prexisting Songs + The Album in CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER, and YES it is right. I did it myself so i’m sure:

Just from making this list and listening to the score, the most noteable gaps are between 11 and 12, 16 and 17, and 17 and 18. I was disappointed that the cue when Katniss comes in for Private Training was excluded 🙁 Hopefully we’ll get an expanded someday.

Do you have all these tracks?
I’m not sure this is the full soundtrack, there seems to be some mislabeled cues/extras. I’m not sure but I thought I would share either way.

The extra tracks are some of the production music. Caeser Flickerman’s Theme is just "War" but somehow despite the easy availability and it flat out states the proper author they got the WRONG version of "War", it’s supposed to be by the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and it’s easily available on itunes, they included "Marissa’s Flashback" from Hanna but neglected to include the other extra tracks. I dont recommend this, at least i don’t recommend you keep this version. If you just follow the list i posted you should have everything you need and the correct versions of everything. If I need to post sources on where you can find the proper tracks i shall.

Described everything:tyson:.
Actually, I assumed that "A Wasp On Her Abdomen" WAS going to be for the tracker-jacker sequence…but it’s NOT actually, they use the opening of it right after the count down and everyone runs off the pedistals, then it begins to fade into "3 Movements for Orchestra, Mvt. 1" and is never heard again the entire movie, not even during the tracker jacker sequence. So eh, idk.
Do you mind sharing it? I bought the limited edition soundtrack.. & I’m buying the score tomorrow.. But I would like your version.. It seems more complete 🙂
Lol, it wouldn’t much anything new, just be the production tracks (again, source tracks are typically when the music is coming from an on screen source such as a radio or television) basically, and a properly split version of "Tenuous Winners/Returning Home"
thank you… this will hold me over until i can buy it tomorrow 🙂 little over 4 hours until i can buy it 🙂
Awesome, thanks. Is it legit though? And what’s the bitrate? 98 mb seems rather small….
Well for reference the last version we had was ripped from youtube and it was like 45 MB, so this is like twice that size so hopefully it’s good (im downloading now)
EDIT: Upon listening it says it is 320KBPS and it sounds like 10 times better than the youtube rip so im assuming it’s true
it’s legit… the score is only 43:58 long. :/
it’s short… but i like it… i hope a complete version leaks
It’s at 320 CBR. It is only 45 minutes, after all…
no…
Katniss whistles it at one point in the movie and the Mockingjays whistle it back
It’s not on the score, but you CAN get it. I’ve already done all my research on this score, so any questions just ask me. As for the "Mockingjay Call" it IS available, AND it’s free:

yea.. you have the complete score? lol… 45 minutes is not complete… i mean.. i know there is a lot of silence in the film… but it seems as if we are missing some cues
Oh yeah we’re definitely missing some cues. Oh and FYI the 320 version of the score just posted has some audio error at about 32 seconds in "The Countdown". Anyways. No I don’t have the COMPLETE score, but I do know basically what we’re missing:
1- The Hovercraft at the beginning/Gale and Katniss Talk
2- There’s some sort of ambience cue when Prim is checking in and Katniss is trying to keep her calm
3- There’s the version of Horn of Plenty during the Capitol video (Plus, various other versions throughout the movie, though it might be the same one as when they show the dead tributes)
4- "Reaping Day" is definitely extended in the film
5- There’s a cue playing during the recap of the pervious years games on the train, sounds similar to a cue used later in the film
6- There’s the cue (or cues) played when Katniss flashes back to Peeta giving her the bread
7- A cue when they see Rue as a shadow and Haymitch explains private training
8- The cue for Katniss’ Private Training Session (Similar to 5, may actually be the same cue)
9- The Tributes being rated
10- The tribute interviews (Not referring to War, but the actual interview scenes themselves)
11- Stuff when Katniss is in the forest after the Cornucopia Fight
12- Peeta/Careers Vs Katniss Stuff
13- Tracker Jacker sequence
and nothing really of too much note after that i dont think
And honestly 45 minutes is a pretty good release compared to National Treaure 2’s release. THAT was terrible

yea… im hoping for a complete one to leak… & yea.. i hate commercial releases… the Pirate of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides soundtrack only had about 29 minute of actual score that appeared in the movie… so glad the demos leaked.
