BTW, the German "Tsunami" label soundtracks, which some consider as bootlegs (they certainly are treated as such in the US, but not by soundtrackcollector.com, where it is treated as "label"), have released some rather good sounding scores, including Herrmann’s "Marnie" soundtrack, which was the first Tsunami record I bought!

It’s interesting to see how little people seem to be attracted to Friedhofer’s music even when it’s "free". 7 Cities of Gold e.g. is a smashing adventure score, and Above and Beyond pretty intense, too. Scores like The Boy on a Dolphin, The Barbarian and the Geisha, Young Lions, The Best Years of Our Lives, One-Eyed Jacks, & Vera Cruz are among the greatest ever written, yet even today Friedhofer’s the underdog.

Maybe it’s because the man himself was modest almost to a fault, liking his job to that of a plumber and when being complimented for his work said, "I’m a fake giant among real dwarfs". 😉
