DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978) COMPLETE SCORE

this is the best complete score of dawn of the dead as heard in the film I did use what they called the complete soundtrack I also used the trunk cd and a torrent of library cues not on the complete soundtrack , a few LP’s and the Goblin cd . Also thanks to a unknown source who indentified all the cues used and the order they go in. And using the dvd as resource also I didn’t take any of the cues from the dvd because all the channels had sfx in them. I did have to replicate the mall chaos scene from the end trying to match as close as possible. I also fixed the hiss , clicks , pops and volume without losing the original sound of the library cues. THEIR IS ABSOLUTELY NO SFX.

What a great job you did! By the way, which cut of the movie is this score based on? Three cuts are avalaible on DVD (US theatrical, European,and Director’s cut) and each one of them contains a different soundtrack: the European cut has a soundtrack by Goblin, the director’s cut has a soundtrack made only of library tracks (as far as I can remember), and the soundtrack from the US theatrical cut contains both music from Goblin and library tracks.

Snyder’s film is a pretty good, slickly-produced horror film with creepy moments and decent, fairly realistic gore. Stands out for being a good, scary film in a sea of tween-hyped crap.

Romero’s film has cheesy, over-the-top gore (gray zombies, pinkish blood) mixed with pointed, if not subtle, social commentary; it’s horror, but it also has comedy (very dark humor) and, with only four main characters, a lot of pathos and drama. It often betrays its low budget, but that kinda adds to the charm, and obviously it has a kick-ass score. While I wouldn’t put it on a list of all-time greats, Romero’s "Dawn" definitely hits a resonant chord and has a bit more heart and depth to it than the remake. Be warned, though, that it feels very ’70s.

i think dawn stands as romero’s greatest film. it’s a little corny and hokey but he has said that was intentional to give it a "comic book" feel

the other version even though it claims to be the Complete soundtrack it is far from being complete. But now we no longer need to wait for a complete score this is as complete as you can get.

@jacksparrow yes i remember listening to that version and thinking it was far from complete. i even compared it side by side with this version and yeah it was missing a substantial amount of music. i’m just glad we have everything sfx free now

i’ve never seen the argento cut (only theatrical and director’s cuts). i know there is more goblin music featured in that version (all of which is available on the official goblin album), but are there library cues in that version that don’t appear in the US versions?

lol, sounds just like me, happens to me too quite often. i’m a sucker for making the files contain more information as much as possible and that includes having a cover into a file folder or a thumbnail for the file. i think it’s the same reason i got into making custom covers in the first place, lol.

as far as the film versions – i think what i have watch is a theatrical cut and the director’s cut as well only. there’s a big possibilities that there are cues in that version that is not in the US version.

I’ve seen all three cuts of the film and the best music wise imo is the theatrical cut.

I certainly play this on my ipod on my next trip to a mall! Thanks a ton.
