This album is a score compilation from the director Yoji Yamada samurai trilogy of movies, aka Samurai Trilogy, with music created by veteran composer Isao Tomita.
Here for the first time is included a score selection from the movie Love and Honor. There is another album containing a selection of the first two movies scores (The Twilight Samurai and The Hidden Blade), but with the exact same music contents as of this compilation.
As a note of interest the score of The Twilight Samurai, was awarded by the Japan Academy in the category for outstanding achievement in music, in the year in which it competed.

I’ve been planning to re-watch the films for the past few days.
The Twilight Samurai is a superb film. One of the finest modern interpretations of the genre that I’ve seen.
I’ve not seen Love and Honour before. Looking forward to it.
