His requiem for strings was one of the most haunting and despairing music pieces I have ever heard.

Thanks, Sanico! It’s nice to have this complement to your posting of the box set. I loved Takemitsu from the classical end for years before I realized he was also a prolific film composer. You have given me a much bigger introduction to his work that I had available before. Next up, I’ll be viewing a couple of his films to observe how he "spots" these beautiful compositions. Any recommendations?
