1991 brought then-married Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith together for this touching coming-of-age drama set in a southern town called Paradise. The score, by David Newman, is one of many of his that was never commercially unreleased. Although clearly not one of his usual comedy scores, this is still not overly dark or heavy music, and features some lovely bits for piano & orchestra.
Source: CD (DNCD label #007LR)
Audio Quality: excellent stereo sound. No dialog or sound efx.
Tau Analyzer and EAC indicated this recording was lossless.
Ripped to FLAC w/XLD.
UPDATE: This score was "unreleased" at the time I uploaded it, but it has since been commercially released on Intrada (along with Robert Folk’s "Can’t Buy Me Love"). The total time is almost the same, so I would suspect the contents are similar if not the same. However, the Intrada issue probably has better sound too, so if you like this score you should definitely try to obtain the Intrada version too.

My disc of "Paradise" is NOT missing track 1. The title had a slash in it (/) which apparently causes trouble on PCs (I’m on a MAC). Thanks to Bishtyboshty for bringing this to my attention. Track 1 has been re-upped alone, and I also re-upped the whole score again too with that slash removed. See new links at bottom of 1st listing. Sorry for any inconvenience!
Megaupload too, that’s why it’s strange. Anyway I will try again later. Thanks again for this beautiful score (I listened to the following cues).

I’ve seen this happen before… it’s the "/" in the track title that is causing you trouble.
I learn every day ! Thanks !

This bootleg promo score in FLAC format appears to be missing the first track. Here is an MP3-256 version with all 19 tracks (credit to the unknown uploader) MEGAUPLOAD – The leading online storage and file delivery service (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PASAW6OL)
Thank you Yen ! If I still encounter some trouble to get the flac track I’ll use your link !
A great share yepsa and amazing to see it as a lossless file.
Just a little point but the back cover jpg won’t open for me. Is that happening to anyone else? Or maybe my DL corrupted?

update Feb 1, 2014: links for back cover are now dead. I will re-up the entire score with a back cover that WILL download! Look for a message under the link in the original post when I do.
This, I believe, is the correct order, although it should be noted that there are cues in the movie that aren’t part of this promo / bootleg at all. "Going Home" is the first cue that you actually hear in the movie, but I put it after "Main Title / The Bus Trip" on my version because I think it plays better there. In any case, I’d love a legit release of this one at some point.

Thanks for this lovely Newman treat. The two brothers (and cousin) are so different in style, yet each of them capable of brilliance – I suppose having Alfred as their dad may have helped. David never seems to get the recognition or commissions that he deserves. Listen to ‘Willward goes fishing’ in it’s exuberance and then ‘Lilly’s sadness’ with it’s lyrical beauty and you have a good idea of this Newman’s style and artistry.
A great share yepsa and amazing to see it as a lossless file.

Wonderful share yepsa
You made a lot of people happy!
I fully agree with rollie on his view regarding Newman’s style. Mr. David Newman brings a great atmosphere and beauty to soundtracks. His work is underestimated in my opinion.
Much appreciated.
