Released in 1999 under the label Themes and Variations, this Charles Gerhardt CD added previously unreleased piece to the Classic Film Score series. The piano solo by Gerhardt himself in the first track, the fountainhead, was never released before. Also, Tiomkin’s the Thing suite only appeared on the sampler CD, not on the Lost Horizon CD. The CD comes with well written articles worthy for a read. It’s a pity there is no further CD produced under this label.

File format:
FLAC: 2 parts, 303MB
320k MP3: 143MB
Artwork: 8MB

The following information is from screenarchives website, from where the CD is still available for ordering. Although I remember it was $4.95 a few years ago when I got my copy.

This was a wonderful series and great introduction to film music. George Korngold was behind it and celebrated not only his father but so many others. When they first showed up on the market there was still very little Korngold and his work still suffered being ignored by the classical world. All that has changed now.

Everyone should have these recordings.

I believe the Tiomkin disc lacked THE THING since these were mostly derived from the LPs and there was no room on The Lost Horizon side B. Of course they did extend the Korngold Sea Hawk disc.

Great stuff!
