2011 Game Of The Year & Game Soundtrack Of The Year

Ok, for this thread, simply state which was your best game of 2011 and, if you’re a game music listener, state what you thought was the greatest soundtrack of 2011. For that game to qualify, it has to be a game played in 2011 and no year before that. The game doesn’t have to be released in 2011 to qualify, as long as you haven’t played it till this year. For instance, I saw a Wii game called Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon last year, but never played it till this year, so that game qualifies. Same applies to the Game Soundtrack.

I played lots of different games this year and listened to many soundtracks and My Game of the Year turned out to be Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland (PS3) and my Game Soundtrack of the Year was, despite the fact that the gameplay was similar to a previous title, Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten (PS3) got the honors.

That list is freaking LONG…and I’m so flaky…

TES5: Skyrim – Fantastic game, weak OST when it comes to listening out of game.

WarHammer 40k: Space Marine – Decent game, probably better than Gears1/2, and I’m LOVING the music.

Vanquish – Very nice looking game and the music just ‘works’, at least in game.

Wipeout HD: Fury – The techno is nice, and the game play is classic Wipeout in REALLY good graphics. Shame the MP has been with retards that leave mid-race.

My Game of the Year is Dark Souls by an absolute mile, and my Game soundtrack of the year is Professor Layton and the Spectre’s Call – specifically the ‘Final Battle’ song.

I’m gonna go with Batman: Arkham City as GotY, and it’s original score. The score in my opinion is a good mix of Elfman/Zimmer, plus some additional greatness by Arundel & Fish.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for both GotY and SotY.

I haven’t played many games which were released last year (Dragon Age II, Dynasy Warriors 7, Elder Scrolls V Skyrim and Saints Row The Third)…

So, my GOTY would be : Saints Row The Third.

My GSOTY would be: Saints Row The Third.

Honorable mention to Skyrim, while it is a good game, the mindless violence and desctruction in SRTT wins… add in Johnny Gat ftw.

Favorite soundtrack this year would be Super Mario Galaxy 2. My LEAST favorite would be Portal 2, the electronic tracks are too forward, they give me a headache.
