FULL GAMERIP
I made the first rip of the full game. 255 tracks, no track names (I haven’t played the game yet). Sorry for that.
Some "item get!" jingles don’t seem to be included, but I’m pretty sure all of the music is.
Keep in mind that this is only a very quick rip for those who can’t wait for the music. I’m sure others will make better rips, with track names.
Anyway, I have to say the orchestration here is awesome. Nicely done, Nintendo! π

EDIT -> I’d like everyone who’s played the game to take a look at this temporary version of my second rip. Can you tell me which variations need to be combined (and if so, how) and which don’t? That’d help me greatly and I’d definitely credit you for the new rip. Thank you. π

FLAC version uploading! π
/GIRLY SCREAM
thanks!
Especially grateful for the missing music upload – I had skimmed it previously and like Faleel, thought to myself "WOT Y THERE NO END CREDITS?!!!!!!!111" but thank God here they are. π
Feel free to tell me to bugger off if you want, but I have a not-quite-but-nearly request… Would it be possible to get hold of the original, untouched audio files, prior to your conversion? With those, folk could create their own FLAC edition but without having to download a terrifyingly large set of files. It seems a little odd that you take compressed files from the ISO, decompress them to WAV, compress the WAV to FLAC and upload… resulting in files with the same quality but quadruple the original bitrate…
I wouldn’t be asking but my ISP has suddenly decided to drop my download bandwidth allowance and so I am literally counting the megabytes now…
If you’ve had enough of uploading or think I’m an arsehole for asking, fair ’nuff guvnor as they say… but I thought I’d enquire anyway.
Thanks again. π

Alright, I can do that. I’ll hopefully have them uploaded in a few hours. π
I’ve just figured something out; most of the orchestral pieces in the FLAC edition are between four and six channels – meaning they include two or three "variations" on the pieces so that the music can change mood as gameplay progresses. This has explained why some pieces I particularly liked from the previous samples weren’t in the MP3 edition – for instance, the romance theme sans percussion. Well, it’s all in there!
If you’re listening to the MP3 version, you’ll be missing out on the variations because what you’ll hear is every track playing simultaneously… There is a big, big mixing job here for anybody who is interested… (Not me…)
eDIT: OK, I had a fiddle. This is 2FAC6CAAB0DD2E75606888E65F9BBAF2 – after a bit of a mix. The snare drum is taken down a little, and for the second repeat dialled out all together before coming back in for the final statement of the theme. It is basically incorporating both variations of the cue into one extended version – giving a bit more variety than simply looping, satisfying fans of both variations, and giving the illusion of there being a bit more music. π
Notice in the MP3 version of the cue, the snare sounds odd and unnaturally loud. This is because a straight downmix and conversion of the multitrack was done (nobody’s fault – just the way the software does it by default) instead of actually doing a sensible mix. I think the cue works a lot better now.

Oh! I hadn’t noticed that myself π
If I ever make a rip with track names, I’ll split those multi-channel tracks. π
Thanks for figuring that out!
The original file version is 711MB by the way… it’s less than the FLAC but it’s still a lot. Want me to upload it? π

Eek, I couldn’t ask you to do that. I’d certainly like it, but I understand that it’s a big ask. The FLACs are great. π
I hope Nintendo is smart enough to release a soundtrack similar to Galaxy 1+2. While the game seems to be the greatest Zelda experience ever, the music certainly flies above and beyond. I will not spoil myself any longer (I’ve only heared the music for the demo) because I want to hear the music first in the game.
Zelda games always leave me with a special emotion when the credits roll and I hope this will affect me stronger than ever before.
klnerfan: the credits song is probably the most awesome song in the soundtrack, so you can count on having a very special emotion after hearing this one as well! π

FLAC version uploading! π
Hey Bar, I actually started ripping this myself a few days ago and have started renaming all my tracks based on their name inside the game files – I’m pretty sure I’m missing these 3 tracks though. Where in the folder structure are they located?
Where in the folder structure are they located?
In the THP folder – they’re videos. π
The FLAC version has all the variations, yeah. They’re just stored in surround files – the game then mixes these channels differently when it wants to.
It’s definitely worth a download.
Great soundtrack-rip! =D I really love it. ^^ Though, I seemingly can’t find the normal battle-theme against normal, non-boss enemies. You can hear it here (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Demoversion) – Gameplay [Part 1/ 3 – Tempel des Himmelsblicks] – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=tVCgl497cfc#t=384s)), around 06:24. That’s the only video I’ve found where a fight against an enemy takes so long that you can actually hear the majority, if not all of the theme.
That music is sequenced (I guess it’s to make the music more dynamic – so it can end immediately when the battle is done), and sadly I’m unable to rip sequenced tracks. π
Aw. π That’s a shame. π Ah well, then I’ll listen to all the other great music of the game. ^^ Again, thanks for the great rip. π
The MP3s are stereo downmixes (from multi-channel to 2 channels) of the corresponding FLAC files. So the only difference is the degradation of audio quality and the downmix.
Not to change the subject (and let’s please not dive in any deeper than this), but the game leaked.
Please send me a PM if you’d like to help out in some way by either adding information to the "friendly name" category, or if you can help out with the other columns.

Ah I see…so it would be necessary to record each channel individually and have it like "Bazaar" and then "Bazaar – Blacksmith" and "Bazaar – Potion Shop" etc etc. Is anyone going to do that do you think? Or just leave it as is? It’s interesting how they did that, reminds me of what they did for Monkey Island 2, the whole dynamic music that changed depending on where you were on the island.
It’s not just that – they might play two of the channels together in certain places. It uses the same system as Mario Kart Wii and that happens in that game sometimes, so I guess here too. It seems impossible to mix them correctly, so maybe someone more experienced with these multi-channel BRSTM files knows how to do this.
That’s not what he meant by sequenced. The music that Bar has been able to rip is pre-recorded and in one continuous (or mostly) waveform file. Sequenced music however is sort of like a MIDI file, where the notes and pitch are saved in a type of text file and then played back in real time by the Wii using sampled instruments. In order to get this music, you either need to emulate the hardware to play back the music the same way or you have to record the music from the game playing on the Wii. Does that make sense?
Yep, that’s what I meant, though I don’t think Kabukibear was replying to that part of my post. π
Doh! You’re probably right. Well, maybe it’ll help someone else understand π
For a listening experience, it’s not so easy.
Here’s another example mix of 960E774EB2F14BCBE4B88F05E3908F45 which I will refer to as "Battle" because that’s what it sounds like to me!
Download -_another_mix.mp3 from Mirrorcreator – Upload files to multiple file sharing sites (http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/1RFU7YPB/-_another_mix.mp3_links)
This uses elements from all three variations but brings them in one by one to give the cue a bit more structure and tension. First, the theme, then the theme and additional timpani, then the theme, additional timpani, and snares to finish off.

That track is "BGM – BOSS – GIRAHIM – 03 – 2" Although "Battle" rolls off the tongue a bit better π
Ah I think I understand. So the potion shop variation might be a mix of multiple channels, and the only real way to mix them as they are would be to sit there and actually compare it to what is playing in-game? How does the game decide how to mix the tracks? Is there any sort of information stored on the disk that decides this and can be used to create a proper mix? Or is that just a pipe dream?
The game mixes based on what you’re doing, how well the battle is going, etc. There is no definitive mix. I think the safest bet is to just come up with something that makes for a decent listening experience.
The files inside the game call it the "Field Minigame"
Hey what’s the name of the track 0F9C3334EC83BA73C240FCD04435196D? It sounds so relaxing

Kinda hard to do that when it doesn’t even exist yet.
Also, here is my one and likely only contribution to the project, as I do not have a Wii and have no intentions of buying one anytime soon.
Nice! Where did the source watercolor come from?
You know you can emulate wii games almost perfectly on the pc and play in glorious 1080p, do you ? π

Uh…no, I didn’t. How do you do the remote then?
Nice! Where did the source watercolor come from?
Nothing fancy – I just used the suck color tool in Photoshop to select the various colors, and I just messed with the sliders until I was happy.
Wii remotes connect via Bluetooth. So you buy yourself a Wii remote and nunchuck, make sure your computer has Bluetooth, get a wireless sensor bar (or use some candles or christmas lights), fire up the Dolphin emulator and you’re good to go.
Just be advised that it takes a HELL of a nice machine to play stuff at anything other than 640×480 – like Multi-core i7 with a new graphics card. Also, if you want to play Skyward Sword make sure you get a Wii remote with MotionPlus built into it (or the motion plus add-on dongle.) Skyward Sword doesn’t work without it.
i7 920 CPU
6GB DDR3 RAM
ATI HD4870 1GB GPU
So I should be covered. π
Some games I bought looked even better on pc: Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 (incredible fun) and Metroid Prime Trilogy (one of my most favorite games). If you’re into RPGs I would also suggest Xenoblade Chronicles, one of the better JRPGs this generation.
Some games I bought looked even better on pc
Most likely because the Wii cannot play native (or any kind of) 1080p…
By the way, does anyone know the file name for Faron Woods? I cant seem to find it.

I’m playing the game for yesterday. I am at the right beginning (before the fly exam). I can try to name some tracks but i’ll put 1 month or more to finish the gmae. I’m not going very fast with videogames. I like to take my time playing games
Agreed π I have that version of the TP soundtrack and it would be AMAZING to see something like that get made for SS! It’ll happen eventually. Just have to be patient I guess π

Thanks a bunch SSRI! I’ll work on incorporating all these into my main spreadsheet.
Well, I’ve already asked Prime Blue if he’s gonna do it for this game, but I have yet to recieve a response.
Once again, the spreadsheet can be found here for those interested: Skyward Sword Music Naming (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqHOdrXgAYlidEQ5cEVSQTk4UV9SM0xLZE9tTTF1V 1E)
Is this spreadsheet continually updated?
Considering it’s a Google Document, yes.
thanks so much for both the soundtrack and the track-name works!
I think those treasure catch sounds might be in with the sound effects in a different file. If you have examples of them on youtube, I can try and find them in the game.
There’s also three versions of the "Secret" fanfare, and the heart piece and heart container fanfares, but I’ve only heard one version of each of those.
Bad news: Prime Blue apparently is not interestsed in "Wii Shit", so don’t expect a rip from Prime Blue. I’ve been trying to list each song the first time I hear it in-game, as well as the dynamic sections and variations. I have count6ed some twice, I’m sure. Anyway, if anyone wants to help make a Prime Blue-like rip, I’ll love them forever. Of course, I’ll need to beat the game first.

I just identified another track update: BC8E5301946F565ADF455FC3DB7284D4 is the cue when Link literally falls from the sky toward the Sealed Grounds.Cool thanks! Keep them coming π
I did, but we’ll have to wait for a response. If many people made the same request, though, he might be more inclined to even rip it himself…
BTW, don’t send him anything here on the shrine, he’s not here often. Try GamingForce or Neogaf
Also, I’m have asked for the soundbanks from SS, so I may soon have the sequenced music and sound effects.
To achive what Prime Blue did, you’ll either need AR codes to disable sfx, or you’ll need to find the sound effect, and patch them. After this, you will needto [play through the entire game, making sure to get all dynamic sections of each song, and letting each song play through fully. If any mistakes are present, they can easily be fixed, so long as you have all of the audio (because you can always use Audacity to move the pieces around). Just remember that too much audio is better than too little. If anyone wanted to just rip an entire playthrough this way, I’d gladly do all of the editing. Of course, you’d really only need to record the songs that have dynamic sections. The rest is sololy for consistency.
slippyToad made really good rips of the Super Mario Galaxy soundtracks, even without combining dynamic sections. Maybe slippyToad will make an awesome rip.
For some reason, I still have this strange feeling that Prime Blue is going to try it.
Currently downloading the only existing REAL iso wuthout a dead link, to try and get the missing tracks.
EDIT: I noticed something when converting to M4A 512kbps. The amount of channels remains the same, but all of the sounds play.
i. e. the drums play in the "Exploring the Sky Field" track throughout the song, while in the FLAC, they don’t play at all. (for reference, I am talking about 2FAC6CAAB0DD2E75606888E65F9BBAF2.) Of curse, my laptop only outputs stereo, but I noticed that those drums played from the right speaker, while all of the other instruments came from the left.

If anyone wants to help me out, great. If not, I’ll just use this for personal use. Everyone can edit it.
What needs to be done:
– Identify unknown songs
– Properly name songs highlighted in red
– Filter out sound effects
– Number songs chronologically
Also, I have removed a bunch of entries that were just sound effects. There’s still a few remaining, but those will get filtered out eventually. What I’m trying to do here is to get a proper soundtrack out with the names and sound effects/noises filtered out.
Thank you!

I wouldn’t say anything you have remaining are sound effects. They all seem to be full fanfares, even the shortest ones. Rather, I’m confused at the criteria you used when classifying the 64 excluded tracks as sound effects. A decent majority are indeed just ambient noises, or else exact duplicates of Laynaru Desert’s variations, but others seem to be as ‘song-like’ as the shorter medleys that were titled and left in, for lack of a better description. Could you elaborate a little on that?
Other than that, the titled tracks all seem to match up, except for "Sing-Along Lucky Pumpkin Bar", which is an ambient dungeon-esque track I can’t place. Also, I don’t know if you were meaning to exclude all exact duplicates, but I assume so based on the Laynaru tracks that were excluded, so on that note, the identically titled "Skyview Temple" tracks are, indeed, copies of one another. I’ll see if I can help identify the six nameless tracks.
"Epic Orchestra Terrible Occurring"?
*sigh* π

Do note that I’m not responsible for the majority of the titles at all. I just changed what I could identify and filtered out some sound effects. For now, I’m renaming my local songs to match the spreadsheet so the ones that I omitted will still be unnamed and easy to identify. At that point, I’ll go through the remaining ones and add the ones that are actually not sound effects or noises.
Sir, that would be AMAZING! Is there also a way to upload the seperate files for each channel? ‘Cause I don’t really get what you mean by ‘later rejoin them’? Do you mean you’ll have the first channel play for the first minute and then fade to the second channel the next minute? To make life a little easier on you; here are the 47 songs in your old rip that had multi-channel FLACs; hope it helps π

At this point, I’ll just be happy if I can title things in vaguely coherent English…
I have some behind-the-scenes assistant from somebody who is considerably better versed in Zelda than I am, and who is actually playing Skyward Sword… so between what we already have and his expertise I’m sure we’ll come up with something a bit better than "terrible occurring."
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqOuKITv-NLidGZpdjB5UTJWc2FuRkNEQlNULTFRNVE
If anyone wants to help me out, great. If not, I’ll just use this for personal use. Everyone can edit it.
Not to stray too far from the topic… but can anyone suggest a program that could take a spreadsheet like this (probably in CSV format) and batch apply tag information from said file to the original music files? I am currently using a program called Mp3tag, but the problem is that the alphanumeric ordering done by the application doesn’t match the ordering done by Google Docs, which makes batch tagging tricky.
What I’d prefer is a program that matches the file’s name with a field in the spreadsheet. Any suggestions?
Sorry champ, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Every bite your sanity and do it yourself or wait on some poor sod to do it for you.
What I’d prefer is a program that matches the file’s name with a field in the spreadsheet. Any suggestions?
You can probably script something using python and the mutagen package, which can read (and write) almost all tagging types.
What I’d prefer is a program that matches the file’s name with a field in the spreadsheet. Any suggestions? The numbering scheme I have in my spreadsheet (SSRI Track#) (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/flac-mp3-legend-zelda-skyward-sword-gamerip-98302/5.html#post1853593) represents mp3tag’s messed up ordering of the hexcodes. tsukasa035, I think, took the song IDs I matched from the two different youtube rips along with his earlier IDs (also included in mine) to make his spreadsheet. Just use the concatenate function in excel and credit add’l columns to set delimiters between the fields like " – " and copy and paste the results to a text file. Then use mp3tag’s text file command ->tag. Remember, for this function, mp3tags orders the tags based on the order found in the text file. Hope this helps.
I’ll upload it tomorrow if I get the chance.
For those who are trying to make tracks containing the various variations of each song in sequence, make sure you get the volume and instruments right. What I’ve heard uploaded on Youtube so far has been horrible work, like the Lanayru Past themes playing with way too low volume on the past-exclusive instruments, and the harp songs playing with NO FRIGGIN HARP.
1. How did you rip the .rwavs? I can’t seem to get this to work.
2. How are you making separate files from the separate channel data?
Also…
Read this urgent FFShrine announcement now:
http://forums.ffshrine.org/announcement.php?f=&a=9
Change your passwords!
1. VGMStream reads rwav files perfectly, just like all the other files.
2. To make separate files from the channel data, I:
– Converted the files to wav with vgmstream
– Split the channels with the channel split codec for dBpoweramp
– rejoined every pair of channels by hand with Audacity’s "Make Stereo Track" function (I’m doing this now)
To get the real variations, I’ll have to mix them too, though…
am just just too "stupid" or where are the 2 sounds from opening "normal chest / treasure)" and big chest / treasure)"? *g*
and there are too seperate songs from the minigame in the Pumpkin bar:
0D22F5D87B7F70B2E2EBAC1462769F43 – acustics
and
2D109AA4EBECD2406C8B4193F91826B9 – voice
ist there ANYONE who can "rearrange / merge" these two sonds to have the "version" from the game? it is just perfect, and my sister loves it, but I am too bad in "music" to merge them "perfectly"
I hope someone can help me out
One question: Is the sampling rate of 32 kHz as it was in the game files, or have you chosen this manually? The sampling rate from the Prime Blue Twilight Princess rip was 44.1 kHz, and that made me curious.
There’s also bad news: I’ve found out the format of the sequenced music (RSEQ+RBNK) and at the moment it can’t be ripped. It can always be recorded in Dolphin though, so if anyone wants to, that’d be nice.
@buffydamion: Most of the fanfares aren’t in this rip yet. I already have some now and it shouldn’t take long till I post my new rip here π
@slippyToad: It’d be wonderful if you could help with the sequenced music, thanks! π
@Kojigrove: It was 32kHz in the game’s files. Zelda TP had a completely different music format (all sequenced) so it’s quite possible they were 44.1kHz, although I doubt they were. Prime Blue’s rip was recorded so it’s quite possible that he saved the files in a frequency that was higher than the music really was.
THX π
I have no clue how to do ist, but is it possible to get the whole song somehow (orchestral+voice -> 0D22F5D87B7F70B2E2EBAC1462769F43 + 2D109AA4EBECD2406C8B4193F91826B9) like i the game, where you have to play the lyra and the girl in the pumpkin bar is singing (minigame).
Thanks everyone

Thanks for the answers! There may have been one part that was misunderstood, though. I meant how did you get the .rwavs out of the .brsars?
Also, you’re doing an amazing job. Thank you very much, Bar.
EDIT: I may be inclined to use Dolphin, but is there a cheat to disable sfx, and do I just use the latest unofficial version of Dolphin?

Good i’ve been waiting for this. Much thanks slippyToad.
And thanks to the rest of you guys on this thread for compiling a tracklist for ZSS’s music.
I also found instruments for the following music, which means those are sequenced (I don’t know what they are though):
"BGM_BATTLE_ROOM"
"BGM_BATTLE_TUTTI"
"BGM_BATTLE2"
"BGM_HP_MELODY" (item get fanfares)
"BGM_HP_PUMPKIN"
"BGM_LORRY"
"BGM_MARKET"
I think I’ve got all the other ones now though! π
@logan28469: VGMToolbox has a plugin for RWAV in brsar files in its Advanced Cutter. π

Cool. Thanks for the list! slippyToad may be able to rip the sequenced ones, or I could try Dolphin. Wouldn’t line-in from the Wii work? Also, it might be easier if you translate/describe what the following songs are:
"BGM_BATTLE_ROOM"
"BGM_BATTLE_TUTTI"
"BGM_BATTLE2"
"BGM_HP_PUMPKIN"
"BGM_LORRY"
Should I just use Audacity to combine all the variations of the market theme into one very long continuous file?
And are any of these sequenced songs multichannel?
This is coming VERY well! I’m more excited for this rip than I was for the game, and I’m a HUGE Zelda fan, so that’s really saying something!
If anyone finds any other sequenced tracks that don’t end up in the rip, tell me and I’ll look for them.
I don’t really know what those tracks are, that’s why I can only use their in-game filenames. BATTLE speaks for itself, then there’s something to do with pumpkins, and then there’s something that’s got to do with a lorry. That’s all I know. Oh, and the sequenced songs aren’t multichannel.
For the variations, I just made a separate track for each variation for now (much easier to do), but I may redo it later so it’s one long track with each variation in it.
By the way, thanks for the help everyone! I’ll credit all of you for the next rip. π
Where are Din’s Power and Farore’s Courage? Also, why is Nayru’s Wisdom labeled as "The Sacred Flames"? I thought your selection was quite good, but those 3 songs are a pretty huge part of the game.
EDIT: Here is the missing track The Sacred Flames (Harp Songs) (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q4UETFYN)
Really? I thought he used Wii line-in. I’ll see if there’s a similar format in the codes and possibly make my own AR code for this.

OK, I’ll try and find out. I don’t know where you got those in-game names from, but that’s cool. You know, if the sfx are mostly in the surround or center channels, I may be able to cancel them out. Can I do everything with these sequenced files in Audacity, or do you think I’ll need something else as well?
For the variations, I just made a separate track for each variation for now (much easier to do), but I may redo it later so it’s one long track with each variation in it.
Well then, for now I’ll see if I can do what you did so that there is a consistency throughout the rip.
By the way, thanks for the help everyone! I’ll credit all of you for the next rip. :)Don’t credit me right away, though, as I’m not entirely sure I can run Dolphin at full speed yet. I think I’ll know by the end of the day, though.
If anyone can figure out where those sequenced tracks play, please tell me.
Oh, and I recommend everyone give Bar’s posting of the ip some reputation points.
EDIT: My computer can NOT run Dolphin. It says 5%, but it takes 10 minutes for even the first few frames to show up. I can try my desktop computer, but it may not work.
EDIT: Dolphin ain’t working on this PC, either, but not due to my hardware. My graphics card could run it just fine at 100%, but Dolphin says I need the direct3d 11 backend, and DirectX 11 does not exist for XP MCE 2008. I actually would need some way of connecting real wii remotes to my computer, but I need a bluetooth device for that (I want one but don’t know where or what to look
slippyToad is good at ripping these sorts of things. Maybe his idea will work well.
By the way, Bar, making each variation be a separate song is a good idea, as each variation may have its own intro (and possibly, its own outtro). I can always combine them into a single file, later(if found to be necessary, I think someone should rip those sequenced songs with Dolphin, though, because if I try to do a line-in recording, the volume may be too low. And trust me, you can’t raise the volume at all when this happens (not even through replay gain), as it causes severe clipping in the audio. I’ll see what I can do though. I hope the shrine works for the next few days (notice how it’s been going down , likely due to maintenance, and being brought back up many times a day), because I want this rip to be made and posted successfully, but am really starting to worry about the shrine. I mean, it’s having so many problems at once!
I’ll be hard at work trying many different techniques at ripping the songs I’m trying to rip, but will also be checking back here often. If someone rips them before me, that’s a good thing, as the result I produce probably won’t be anything special.
Oh, remember, change your passwords!
I’m waiting for the final complete rip of the game with track names. You all do a fantastic job!!! Sorry to can’t be able to help you guys :S
I’m waiting for the final complete rip of the game with track names. You all do a fantastic job!!! Sorry to can’t be able to help you guys :S
I can name the tracks. Bar is already doing so much, it’s truly amazing. That, and I really want to do something for this rip. I’m going to wait until the rip is posted, first, then I’m going to name the tracks. I won’t name them in the way a composer would name them for a soundtrack, but rather, give the tracks the type of names you would normally see in a gamerip. In other words, it will be obvious which song is which, as Eldin Volcano’s song will simply be named "Eldin Volcano" instead of anythingconfusing or different like I’ve seen in the other rips of this game(which are all missing over half the music in the game).
Unfortunately, that link is broken… otherwise, great idea you had. And it’s good to know the first application I attempted this with does actually have some following.
Every bite your sanity and do it yourself or wait on some poor sod to do it for you.
I’m sure this excuse is used often, but it’s less about sanity and more about free time. I work two jobs, and honestly by the time I finish doing such a thing manually, some other poor sod will have done it already.
Plus, I’m a programmer! If I’m doing something by hand I’m doing it wrong. :p My next step was going to be write a program to sort that spreadsheet the same way Mp3tag does….
Here you go:
http://www.mediafire.com/?n60bqqqztjr7zja
pass: ffshrine
Yeah, I wouldn’t have bothered with the naming project without mp3tag. I’ve been using it for several years and it has yet to let me down.
mp3tag +spreadsheet = easy π
(sorry I’m french, don’t speak english)
Thank you!
Sorry but that there rip needs a lot more work. For one, the quality is too low(variable 128-256 or something), and it hardly contains any variations within the same track.
Most importantly it’s missing a crapload of songs, like literally EVERY dungeon theme except Skyview Temple. If that’s what you mean by "ambient" music you’d be mistaken, because some of the dungeon themes are among the best tracks, like Lanayru Mining Facility’s past version.
By the way, one song I haven’t seen anywhere is the fire-themed miniboss theme. It’s first played against the Lizalfos in the Earth Temple I believe. Is that sequenced?
Also, he said this is just something to help Tango out with his arrangement. So, this is by no means a "final" release of the sort. The only reason he had posted it was probably because he was asked to by the community.
(sorry I’m french, don’t speak english)
Thank you!You mean from mp3 tags->excel?
Use mp3tag’s export function and create a new configuration or copy/paste an existing one and name it to whatever you want. Then edit the export configuration look like this with the desired fields separated by whatever character you want to use as a delimiter character in excel, here it’s "*":
$filename(txt,utf-8)$loop(%_path%)%track%*%artist%*%title%*%length%* %ETC, etc….%
$loopend()
Save the new config, highlight the songs whose tags you want to export and select the export configuration you just created. It will spit out a text file. Copy/paste contents of the text to excel.
Now, in excel, highlight the column and use Data>Text to Columns command. Select the delimited option and select "other." Place * in the other field and leave the "treat consecutive delimiters as one" UNCHECKED. Hit finish and you’re done.
(sorry I’m french, don’t speak english)
Thank you!
Don’t use Google translate or Yahoo anymore. They do not work at all(they’re very bad). From now on, use Bing Translator, which is perfect.
Now I shall want to import these names to reappoint the musics.
Because I am not quite going to copy out the names of tracks on every music?
logan28469: I’m sorry, I am very useless in English…
Nobody’s perfect.
Now I shall want to import these names to reappoint the musics.
Because I am not quite going to copy out the names of tracks on every music?
My track#’s reflect mp3tag’s inconsistent sorting of the hexcodes. Just order your files in mp3tag via hexcode, order the spreadsheet under my track#’s, copy the column with titles and paste them in a new text file. In mp3tag, highlight all the songs ordered by hexcode, use the "text file->tag" command, point to the text you created and the format string field should be %title%. That’s it.
I agree, those were some rude posts. Still, most of this page is off-topic. I would answer it ifI understood the question, which is the only reason I suggested re-translating the question using Bing Translator. I meant absolutely NO harm. I have never trolled and never will.
Back on-topic:
As for the sequenced tracks, I’m still looking for the ones that have yet to be identified. The final copies of the files I provide (if I can get these ripped properly without problems, which is seemingly unlikely) will be in lossless.
Hey Bar, since the main problem I’m having is due to software deficiencies, do you know of any linux version of Dolphin? (or if it runs properly through Wine, as well as how I’d go about setting up drivers if necessary) I have Backtrack 5 r1 (Ubuntu) and Mint Debian.
I just want to check beforehand, as it is may take a while to set everything up for that, but it’ll be well worth it if it works. If a LiveCD of Win7 exists, I’d have absolutely no hesitation on using that.
This took me well over 7 hours in total… lol
In chronological order (I suppose, with the exception of the optional stuff), some are missing, some I left out. Feel free to add those that are missed. Does anybody want the mp3s I tagged in Windows Media Player? (Don’t know if that program actually writes the tags)

Is there any hope of you .raring this up for us? Or am I going to be insane and do it myself?
Because I will totally commit myself to an asylum if I have to. I will. Don’t test me!
Oh, and spoilers ahead!
Thanx ruzlix, I updated my spreadsheet with your changes to match the 255 tracklist from Bar’s initial rip. Hope this helps someone.
Part 1 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/ai9bq0)
Part 2 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/mkf3kz)
So I noticed that I missed a few, that I thought were missing but I missed them cause the album tag had disappeared. But I put them in the folder. Some I renamed the file name of.
People seem to be calling Meeting Zelda at the Statue and Won the Race! "Romance Theme", but I don’t know. π
That’s because that song is one of the variations of the song that originally was introduced to the world in the officially-titled "Romance Trailer". The other name sounds more descriptive though. I really like that song.
I’m going to play Skyward Sword now.
EDIT: Okay, these are the corrupt files for me:
1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 27, 29, 32, 36, 39, 59, 65, 67, 68, 70, 71, 77, 85, 86, 88, 90, 92, 96, 108, 116, 145, 153, 157, 161,
So, yeah, you will be better off just reuploading them to a different site.
By the way, why not just host your spreadsheet on Google Docs (or some similar service) so you can maintain the same download URL and make changes as you go?
There might still be one or two duplicate tracks, and some of the variations need to be mixed with each other.
Since I haven’t played the game yet, I figured you might be able to help me by saying which ones need to be mixed and which ones are fine.
I didn’t name anything yet as some variations might need different names than the ones already in the spreadsheet (which is a great help, by the way – thanks for that!).
So, will anyone take a look at the variations when I upload them to see which ones need to be mixed? π
Edit: Will the new post have the Bazaar songs in them? Just curious.

If any of these files are available, can anyone give the link to the files?
My god, just how much music is in this game?

The one in this gamerip is shorter and begins with the snare part right away.
I still don’t know how these videogame composers do this.
Something I noticed: The Sky is similar to the Overworld from Zelda 2 and Demise Theme is basically the Rain Scene from A Link to the Past. The only downside to the score is the theme of the Triforce. Instead of Fairy’s Fountain it should have been the Triforce Chamber from A Link to the Past or the Song of Time. But the synth tracks at the end are slowly growing on me when I realized how close they feel to ALTTP. Considering the countless references and similarities to older Zelda games I think this is no coincidence.
This rip seems more complete than the last, but is still incomplete :3 We still seem to be missing the open chest theme, the Item get theme, all the Bazaar themes, all variations of the battle theme, and the second mid boss battle theme *the one that first plays when fighting the lizards in the Earth temple*
Also, i already beat the game, and I am currently using a walkthrough to tag all the tracks and whatnot, should i post what i have so far to see if you guys approve ??
Skyloft Variation 2 (No Accordion)
The Imprisoned 1st Boss Battle Theme
Lake Floria Theme – Underwater
Lanayru Sand Sea Cart Ride Theme
The Horde Battle – Ghirahim Variation
Demise’ Theme
Demise Sealed Away
Are these mp3s available anywhere?
I believe most if not all of those are in Bar’s newest rip.
We still don’t have any of the harp songs with the actual harp playing, right? I assume the harp is sequenced, but maybe those can be recorded from the game directly?
1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 27, 29, 32, 36, 39, 59, 65, 67, 68, 70, 71, 77, 85, 86, 88, 90, 92, 96, 108, 116, 145, 153, 157, 161,
i have this as well. i’ve tried using what you advice as quickPar yet even that file came out corrupted? quickpar is definitely not a user friendly tool for first time users. and sadly i cant used it to fixed the corrupted files or archives but still, thanks for the share..

Would it be possible to rip these two songs without the sound affects. I saw that you did that with the Victory theme after beating Demise, so i was thinking it would be possible to do the same with these two!
@AVGanondorf: All in the new rip. (if they aren’t, they’re sequenced)
@Takfloyd: Yep, the harp songs are sequenced as well. I found the harp notes sounds in the game but that’s not really useful, is it?
@HikariAngel: I can’t listen to the tracks right now (I’m in class) but the way they are in the new rip is how they are stored in the game’s files. That means you can’t get it without sound effects by ripping, nor by recording (obviously).
Whoops, pardon my stupidity with the first comment ^.^’
anyway, it’s a shame then that you can’t seperate the sound effects, especially for the second track haha. oh well
I believe most if not all of those are in Bar’s newest rip.

Where can I download Bar’s newest rip?
Well, I’ve got one that is 168 tracks wide, 6 hours long, that is a combination of klnerfan’s and Ruzlix’s works. I could see about uploading that – I mean, despite the fact that it is 4 hours shorter than Bar’s works, I am safe in saying that it has pretty much everything you need.
@Bar. In 0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F, doesn’t each variation have the music from the main version of the song in it, with the instruments fro the other variations just added on top? I think this is the case, and not just for this song, but all of them.
Take 2FAC6CAAB0DD2E75606888E65F9BBAF2 for example. You split it in two variations: The main song, and the drum-only version. What you need to do instead is make the two variations be: The song without the drums, and the song with the drums. Otherwise, the best versions of the songs will not be listenable. Also note that there is a version of the Skyloft theme that is made up of both of your variatons, and that all songs could easily be ffixed so long as you keep the main music in each track, as opposed to deleting it. You know, the flying theme and the drums are not two different songs,. There is one version that has drums and one that doesn’t, so please, fix this in all songs. It should be fairly easy. It’d be nice to listen to Ghirahim’s theme with the castanets, rather than having to listen to just the song, or just the castanets.
Same here, so long as it is tagged properly, and in order.
Oh and for the first file I mentioned(which is the sub-boss theme), there should be one variation that includes all instruments as well. Great job ripping those instruments!
Someone hurry up and make me happy so I can "spead reputation around" and be able to give Bar rep again!
So far, Bar has taken place among my Favorite Rippers List, currently ranking second out of thirty.
EDIT: I now know for sure that Audacity will mix down the tracks to two stereo tracks, but in past experiences, especially the one, Prime Blue, Whiz-zarD, and kinerfan, we found that mix-downs sometimes cause a SEVERE loss in quality. We learned that in the recordings of Symphonic Legends – Music From Nintendo, the 5.1 stream that was ripped in 2.0 was 192kbps, but sounded much lower quality(buzzing, especially in surround speakers) than the 2.0 stream recorded in 2.0 at 128kbps. Although, that could’ve been caused by just improper ripping procedures, as opposed to mixing-down There must be some way to overlay the instrument tracks on top of the main songs using the same two channels. Luckily, the instrument tracks are EXACTLY the same length as their according main songs. It might work because all the files are now stereo.
Whatever yo do, use the new stereo files instead of the track-merging older ones, as that will make the files lossy and buzzy.
I haven’t played through the whole game yet(I’m a professional when it comes to making a Zelda playthrugh last long.), but you dont seem to be misssing anything. I checked the ISO I just downloaded and you got all of the music. There may be a couple of songs in the demo that aren’t in here, but those probably don’t have any variations. All you’d need to do is merge the files properly. I can always just upload the sequenced tracks in FLAC 8 later on (if 8 is what you use for the compression setting). Also, if anyone else can rip the sequenced tracks with Dolphin PLEASE do, because when I go to do it, even though the sequenced tracks are stereo, they come out really bad due to the same mixing down problem I spoke of earlier on in this post.
In other news, looking at Prime Blue’s posts on various forums, I conclude that around June, he has disappeared off the face of the Earth. Hopefully nothing bad happened.
Am I number one? π
EDIT: To make this post somewhat productive, I am uploading my rip – although it is more the work of klnerfan and Ruzlix. I just merged the two together is all. As well as renamed some stuff – I mean, Demise’s Demise? Really?

Game Over
Here’s to hoping for someone to in-line rip the midi songs without any SFX.
Yeah, that won’t work too well with this game. Setting the Wii to stereo first doesn’t seem to fix the problem, either. Using Dolphin is the only way to go.
Oh and Bar, about what I said in my last two posts, if you think my procedure will work, but don’t want to do it yourself, you could just upload what you have and I could do it myself using the FLACs(if Audacity can import FLACs. GoldWave might work, too).
I think I’m just going to try to figure out how the data needed to play those files correctly is stored in the game. Which might take some time.
Multiupload.com – upload your files to multiple file hosting sites! (http://www.multiupload.com/FDS1EZ9R89)
The game was great and now I can enjoy the music whenever I like.
In addition to the trouble of figuring out which variations go on top of eachother, there’s also the fact that some of the variations seem to have the wrong volume. You have the game right? If you just pay attention to the music as you play, you can probably tell for yourself how it goes, at least for the area music like in Lanayru Desert and The Sky. The boss music is trickier, because there’s several variations depending on how the battle is going. Also, the tracks named WZSound_00000000 and WZSound_00007FFD are blended into a couple of the boss fights(Definitely Scaldera and Tentalus, might be others) when Link is on the offensive, like in Twilight Princess.
Skyloft Variation 2 (No Accordion)
Bazaar – Normal
Bazaar – Restaurant
Bazaar – Fortune Teller
Bazaar – Potion Seller
Bazaar – Store Lady
Bazaar – Scrap Shop
Bazaar – Happy Seller
Lizard Fight (Earth Temple Mini-Boss)
The Imprisoned 1st Boss Battle Theme (Without the Groose Theme in it)
Lake Floria Theme – Underwater
Lanayru Sand Sea Cart Ride Theme
Thank you!
There is for sure one version of the Skyloft theme that is both of your current variations mixed togethter. There is also the 0D-something(one I mentioned) which does have the normal version, a version for each instrument, and a version with both instruments.
I’ve been hearing this a lot lately. All you have to do to help is own the game and post here which variations exist for each song in the game. That way, Bar can mix it properly. I’m going to do just that with the songs that I am 100% sure on only. @Bar: Look forward to a more extensive list from me this week, and make sure to check my posts as of this one, as I’ll be editing them with more as opposed to making new posts each time. NOTE: I’ll be posting track names or descriptions in bold red from now on, and whenever we come to a song that has have the normal version without instrument tracks, a separate version for each instrument, and a version with all instruments(like the 0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F we talked about), I will call that a full combo. If you include the normal version, that song has 4 variations, so this is how I’m going to write it:
0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F (full combo) 4 vars.
Now I start listing what I know: (Hopefully, this mp3 archive has ALL of the songs and instrument tracks and variations, right? Because if not, I’ll probably miss a lot, as I am going to look at each song and navigate it in the game.)
0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F (full combo) 4 vars.
I believe most if not all of those are in Bar’s newest rip.
We still don’t have any of the harp songs with the actual harp playing, right? I assume the harp is sequenced, but maybe those can be recorded from the game directly?
I just downloaded Bar’s Soundtrack, and I still can’t find the 2nd Variation of Skyloft. Nor the first battle with The Imprisoned… can someone tell me the names of the songs? Please?
I can’t read any more info from the game’s files so the only way to go is really that list. I’ll also try my best to get the sequenced tracks before I put that online. π
@AVGanondorf: I don’t know about the Imprisoned as I haven’t played the game much yet, but I think Skyloft is F2E8D789E703D3719C3FDBDCFB5BAA37 and F2E8D789E703D3719C3FDBDCFB5BAA37_2 π
People need to read earlier posts, otherwise they’re going to just keep asking about the sequenced tracks. I can’t seem to figure out how to get a non-sfx version of the Bazaar theme ripped yet. But maybe there is something like Fraps or 3D Ripper DX(often used to automatically rip graphics and possibly audio from games running on the PC and using Direct3D) that could rip the audio as wav, which would allow the sfx to be in separate files. Yeah, I’m going to start listing on this post. Note that I will likely not mention any songs twice from here on out, so check all of my posts. Did you see the highly important post by Takfloyd nine posts up? I may(and probably will) miss those. Also, in the case of Skyloft(first in this list), since there is a version that is made from mixing both versions of the sogs, which are full songs as opposed to instrument racks, I will say (full mix) for songs like that. You can probably see if a track has a "full mix" by converting the old FLAC in foobar200 to MP3 or M4A

You should also include 09 Hurry! from the demo rip of yours, as it is different.
Remember that the first variation is the main, unmixed song.
And don’t change the kHz!
Finally! Just the Bazaar songs and the Lizard Fight Mini-Boss song from the Earth Temple. Does anyone know where to find them?
Maybe that’s the "LORRY". Aside from that, the closest thing I know of is Lori, my friend’s mom.
How come the lizard fight music is so hard to find? Is it also sequenced? That’s one of the tracks I was looking forward to listen more closely to, because it plays so rarely in the game and is a bit hard to make out.
Could you please record this WITH SFX or find it in a video, just so that I know what it sounds like and can be ready to rip it when I hear it?
Did anyone notice whether or not the WZSOUND_00000000 and WZSOUND_00007FFD played in the first Ghirahim battle? I know for sure it did in the leaked demo. I also think I remember it in the ghirahim battle, but am not sure. I have a hard time differentiating between the two, as well. Does anyone know the differences between them? Maybe there are two files because there is an instance in the game where they play simultaneously? Why is and the only word underlined in red?

What is LORRY? …
I know I am, but there’s nothing new there: Since when isn’t Link doing god’s work?
What is LORRY? …Nobody knows. It’s the name of some sequenced track.
I know that Moldarach’s theme is two tracks because the second track fades aways when he burrows into the sand… but i can’t figure out the reasoning behind Koloktos’s theme being split into two parts o.O
Closest thing I know of is a truck.
No, they certainly don’t, since Ghirahim doesn’t have a "vulnerable" mode. They play against Scaldera and Tentalus when they’re vulnerable, and I thought they might play against Bilocyte, but checking Youtube, they don’t. So I do believe they’re exclusive to those two battles, probably one for each.
Zelda: Skyward Sword – Lizalfos Gameplay | HD – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIU4tPnvFF8) Here’s footage of the Lizalfos battle. This music occurs during a number of mini-boss battles in the game, usually any one that isn’t a Stalfos. This track really needs to be found, its a pretty major one to be missing.
@FizzBoing: Thank you.
@Guilder: I said I’d be willing to name the tracks. All I have to do is make a file and import command with MP3Tag, then all you’d have to do is install mp3tag and import the file after selecting the files and wait a few seconds for it to batch tag and name.

Blank sound brsars wouldn’t work even if you were able to make them – as the sequenced songs are in there too. Is it really impossible to turn sound effects off in the game’s settings? Anyway, thanks for the help so far, I’ll use your list to combine the tracks correctly. π
Everyone, also check out !!!!!’s rip, it is really an awesome one.
Everyone, also check out !!!!!’s rip, it is really an awesome one.
@Bar: Two things:
1. You’re welcome, but know that this list is not complete. The other songs are ones I’ve not yet heard.
2. It wouldn’t be necessary to make the whole .brsars blank. I could probably extract all the files that are not .rbnk and .rseq, then create a bunch of blank files and inject them back into the .brsar.
No, make that three things total
3. Could you please link me to the newest version of VGMToolbox?
Download VGMToolbox from SourceForge.net (http://sourceforge.net/projects/vgmtoolbox/files/latest/download?source=files)
What videos?
@DGM09: You’re right, it isn’t as simple as just downmixing the tracks. Looks like I’ll have to spend some time deciphering how the game does this before I do anything.
I don’t know, if it really is that hard, maybe we’re better off getting a cheat and recording all the variations like we’ll have to do for the sequenced music.
About the cheats and recording – We may still need to run Dolphin for this, though. Isn’t there a Linux emulator? Also, from what I’m hearing, a File Replacement Code may not work on games that don’t have SD-reading functionality. I know that using Wii Line-in may (but likely won’t) cause the same thing as the downmixing(but will cause the result files to be low-dB, whence amplification would cause distortion), and setting the Wii to Stereo may not fix the problem(as Skyward Sword does not actually have a Stereo mode). What I’m going to try doing is edit the .brsar, mod my Wii again(the SS update removed my mods), and run the edited .iso. The only thing I need is a big enough flash drive. Luckily, since the data is not read-only, rial and error is possible. I highly recommend someone with the proper equipment to do this. Soft-modding the Wii requires a good game (like Brawl) and about three minutes, unless you plan on backing stuff up. After all, the Wii has to be modded for the cheats to work in the first place.
I made a program that looks for all RSEQ files and shows the label and asks if you want to mute it. Still took me quite some time, since the the brsar is more than 500mb. I played the game with the modified brsar and while it was still playing a few ambient sounds in a few regions and froze once it works!
I’m using the Riivolution app and the Riifs server to stream it from my pc. The good thing about it is that I also see which file is being accessed, so I can find the appropriate stream played. I’m still playing the game(just entered the 3rd dungeon), so I’m not done yet.

all files ending with Smpl are the sequences you hear when you hit an enemy.
In some battles it also plays a sequenced file together with the stream(for example during the fight with Scaldera).
I’m still trying to get a full soundtrack done. I can post the Bazaar songs already if people are interested or they can wait until i’m finished with the soundtrack.
Now that I’ve expressed my grattitude, I’d like to say some things: 1. Feel free to use any files from here, as they may reatly help you out, especially the FLACs that are in stereo, unless that seems like it would make your job more confusing.
2. I don’t like to be rushed in Zelda games. I highly recommend that you just take your time. I know that playing a game and simultaneously recording the music takes a LOT longer than it would to normally play the game, but we both know that there are less and less new songs as you get further into the game and the same ones play in many new areas.
3. I don’t know if you plan on getting all of the variations, but be carefull in certain boss fights that have that "vulnerable" part of the song. Also note that many songs sound nearly identical to others, but have many completely different versions(like Ghirahim’s theme)
4. This music is extremely awesome and since it is Zelda and Mahito Yokota at the same time, I may be more overenthused than ever before in my life, as this is the best music I’ve ever heard(in and out of games). You may get an extremely high amount of gratitude from me.
5. How the hell are you downmixing this(or whatever you’re doing)? If you’d rather not answer that, that’s fine.
As I said before, slippy, I’m more than happy to just wait for the whole thing, but I’m not speaking for everyone. I’m sure other people would LOVE to hear the sequenced music like the Bazaar, so if you uploaded that, a lot of people would be happy. This should take you a while, but I can safely say that this will beat all other rips combined. Hopefully Nintendo stops using this file structure and formats for good.
Now, remember everyone: give slippyToad some reputation points!
And I’m just going to continue working with Bar until you’re done. That is, if Bar still wants to. I’ve learned a LOT so far.
I’m interested in the having the Bazaar songs in lossless of course. And if you can slippytoad, could you post all of the sequences before you complete your rip, after you get them? I would be grateful for that alone. Also do the tracks fade in as you record them or can you get them in one volume? Thank you for your hard work in return.
Wait are you asking slippy Toad for the actual files? I think that would be awesome. I’m going to be honest I don’t actually know what Riivolution does, but now that I think about it, it’s probably an app that automatically extracts the whole sample as soon as it is accessed, huh? If so, that is basically a non-Windows version of the 3D Ripper DX equivalent that I previously spoke of. If that’s the same concept, that’d likely work for every game, unless this rips the sequenced stuff only. GOOD LUCK, slippyToad!!!
Yeah the sequences after they’re ripped due to the RSEQs by themselves being virtually useless.
Then yes, I agree!
Yeah the sequences after they’re ripped due to the RSEQs by themselves being virtually useless.
I’m going to play Skyward Sword now.
WZSound.brsar is identical for PAL/JAP/KOR, but the US file differs. I don’t know to what extent though – the extractable files (via ripping_mama01) are identical for all four. The filesize is slightly different, too.
1E20D864A94A866D70090559E6D0CD2A and 4198EC4D6C70084417657C6DC4503D41 are also identical for PAL/JAP/KOR, but the US versions differ again.
1E20D864A94A866D70090559E6D0CD2A misses the intro for the second channel-pair in the US version (which seems identical with the intro of the first channel-pair).
4198EC4D6C70084417657C6DC4503D41 is shorter in duration in the US version (the first channel-pair is extended for PAL/JAP/KOR).
I’ve uploaded those two here (http://anonym.to/?http://www.multiupload.com/Y389108AUM) in both variants if anyone’s interested. Didn’t upload the WZSounds since they’re quite big for my connection, but I can do that too if that does something good.
Other than that, the music seems to be the same. All other streams, the demos and all THPs are identical.
Also, amazing work so far! I’m so looking forward to the finished thing. I’d really like to help out in some way, but everything here seems too technical for me… not sure if I can do anything. I’d gladly replay it (even several times) though, currently finishing my second 100% run (in hero mode this time).
@Bar: I am in the US and have the US ISO. Have you been using the files from the US ISO, or the others?
@Bar: I am in the US and have the US ISO. Have you been using the files from the US ISO, or the others?
You can rip those two files without Riivolution, they’re brstm files just like the ones I’ve ripped.
And yes I’m using the US version as well, though I’ll download the PAL version as well to get a more complete version.
I’m doing my best to find out how the game stores volume/3D sound position data at the moment. If I find that out I won’t have too much trouble getting the right volume in the mixdown.
Also, good luck, slippyToad! I’m excited for you getting the sequenced music too. Well done! π
EDIT -> I can get the sequenced tracks in midi format as well now, but that’s not helping me any further. :/
I’m not knowledgeable enough to actually view the algorithms and code themselves, but there’s a way to test this that could help. If you’re unable to actually verify directly and exactly how the Wii handles the audio files, I can try messing around with them.
I was thinking that if you were to replace the .brstm files in the original .iso with music of your choice, this wouldn’t be that much trouble to figure out. For example, add a few simple sounds in the different channels of a song (Skyloft’s is good for this) and see what plays. Just needs simple notes to figure out. It should be easy to identify what channel plays and why and also the dB changes.
Edit: And this would also help to verify where exactly each variation plays, since you could just put a silly tune in one of the variations and see where it changes in-game.
That’s right, that would help a lot! Great idea.
I think I found a way to get the sequenced sounds easily by the way. I’m going to try it out right now. π
EDIT -> Yes, it works! sequenced music can be converted to midi with rseq2mid and later played with the data from the bnk file. Some (only some of them) files don’t seem to convert that easily though… hmm…
now I have read almost the whole thread. But I dont know how can I extract the Sounds/Music from the sound\wzs Hash-Files?
With ripping_mama and vgmstream you can extract the sounds from brsar and convert the rwav to wav that can play every mplayer.
But how can I play the wzs sounds like:
0A2EB53FB4A43869EF8892CA146BBDF4 or 0D22F5D87B7F70B2E2EBAC1462769F43 or 0D69624FF595784723DE8035A322931F etc.
What Programm can do this?
I would be very happy if you can help me.
PS: Bad english from me. ^^ Its not my main-language.
I know. What I meant was: Regardless who does the ripping, can I do the editing? I am knowledgeable on how. After all, I have ripped most of the game Wii Music.
I like how everyone that’s still in this discussion knows what they’re talking about, even the new users.
I’m still not sure what the differences in the .brsars is. I originally guessed it was Fi’s speech, as her speech is an actual cryptogram, but you can tell by the ordering of the words that it is a cipher of Japanese. I am noticing this in the US version, BTW.
BEST. THREAD. EVER.
I’ll post some recordings of sequenced songs first, since most people want these. Luckily the game has very few sequenced songs. I have a few fanfares, the bazaar song and the minecart in Shipyard. Only one I missed during gameplay was the lizalfos mini-boss in the earth temple. Thought it was just a streamed song, until i checked riivolution which streams were loaded and saw there were none. I thought the bamboo cutting mini-game is sequenced too.
I still miss a few variations of stream + sequenced song, but all of them can be redone. Scaldera’s critical variation also plays during Tantalus, which I still need to defeat.
Preliminary downloads (http://www.mediafire.com/?kcrw2m4rzdvhn)
It’s the harp songs(without Fi singing though, Fi’s voice is a SFX), the channel intro, the bazaar songs, many fanfares(except Solution #2 and Fortune Told fanfare) and the minecart ride.
I only uploaded the ripped rwav’s and the recorded sequences. They are not tagged yet and I haven’t double checked them(i can remember one fanfare still had sound effects with it).
As I played through the game (Skyward Sword), the thought that kept occurring to me every time the music changed based on what I was doing was, "Wow, I bet this would be a pain to rip the music from." =P
Anyway, I think in the interest of my hard drive’s space capacity, I should hold off on downloading anything until the full rip is complete?
I’ll post some recordings of sequenced songs first, since most people want these. Luckily the game has very few sequenced songs. I have a few fanfares, the bazaar song and the minecart in Shipyard. One thing… you forgot the Variation of the Bazaar when you’re at the cafe. Can you put that song up for download? π

@slippyToad: Yeah, you did miss the variation of the Bazaar theme that plays near the cafe. Luckily, you can go there whenever. You’re doing a GREAT job, tgough! Good Luck getting the ones that you missed, too!

@slippyToad thank you for the early releases of the sequences.

Guys I know this isn’t saying much, but I want to give a preemptive thanks for all the work you’re sinking into this rip. So thanks! I can’t wait for your final rips π

Now I start listing what I know: (Hopefully, this mp3 archive has ALL of the songs and instrument tracks and variations, right? Because if not, I’ll probably miss a lot, as I am going to look at each song and navigate it in the game.)

Sorry I didn’t reply earlier. A relative dear to me died drowning on a lake and been taking care of that. I’ll see if I can list any variations.
Hey, you don’t need to apologize, especially when it’s something like that. When I originally said
I’ve been hearing this a lot lately. All you have to do to help is own the game and post here which variations exist for each song in the game., I:
1. was not directing the statement directly to you, but to everyone, especially those before yours that seemed repetitive
2. had no intention of making anyone sound lazy (because when I read that post of mine just now, it sounded like I did have that intention)
However, I feel bad, and thus, I’m sorry (which is why I’m saying all of this).
Still, there is no need for you to apologize, especially in your situation. Thank you very much for still wanting to help! Good luck!

Thanks, that’s okay. I didn’t mean to come off that way. No need to apologize. π But still, I wanna help somehow. If I can at least make a cover I’ll make it.
Thanks, logan28469! π I’m going to upload a video where I play Farore’s Courage, Nayru’s Wisdom, and Din’s Power, too. π Should be out in a couple of days or so…

@AVGanondorf: Can’t wait to hear it!
@JTurner: Awesome, that’s what I wanted to do!
I got the idea from two things 1) !!!!!!’s version of the Rip basically combines all the songs with "variations" into one track, which is what I have seen to be the case on Nintendo-published OSTs. Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 did this IIRC. 2) Given how the tracks seemed like they were missing pieces of the intro in the "main" theme, I felt it would be fitting to combine them into a suite.
Once you guys gather all the tracks and resources, I too would like to produce my rip—one using ProTools. Is that fine?
No the final rip is not yet complete. !!!!!!’s rip was a BETA version—it’s somewhere in this thread.
the tracks seemed like they were missing pieces of the intro in the "main" theme?
What I meant was that the main theme had something of an intro before the piece began (the bongo drums solo), whereas the other versions did not. Which is why I decided to make it a medley.
Actually, there is one more variation missing and it will need to be recorded for every battle theme variation (Approaching, Fighting, Armos, Inside Volcano). The missing variation is the "life critical" variation that plays when Link reaches three hearts or less. I’m actually not sure if there is a "life critical" variation for the "approaching" part of the battle theme so I would need someone to check on that. I’ve been too busy to play the game for a while. It would be great if somebody could look into recording these.
slippyToad will likely rip that properly, but we’ll see! You guys are really finding a lot!
@Bar: I should be able to greatly extend that list soon!
As for the post directly preceding mine, I couldn’t oppose you more. I honestly think that you’re alone on that opinion. It’s nice to hear amazing orchestral music that is mostly new songs, as opposed to the same ones that have already appeared in another 5 games or more.
Of Klatha and Mana!
Turn now kingdavid007
Into species called Rana!
I’ve found that in-game, the harp is programmed to play the chords to any bgm that plays.
…
…every…
…single…
…bgm…
Even the boss encounters. π
For completionists out there who want every variation possible, this fact will probably make you want to tear your hair out. :/
I’m sure there are a few BGM that don’t feature this (FE, The Sky [you can’t play the harp while flying as far as I know])
I’ve found it fun to strum the harp while playing through the game and I do wish that someone would be able to figure out how to create variations to include the harp strumming with the BGM but that is a HUGE undertaking.
Fun fact: Even the regular battle theme has harp chords. Try it out. :3

Yeah, I know. I mentioned this to Prime Blue in that PM about 25 days ago. The reasons I never mentioned it here are:
1. It is SFX, even though it is music, and exists in nearly any part of the game. It would be cool to have, but I don’t think it’s all that necessary. It would probably be better off as a separate track, if anything. And this opinion is coming from an obsessive completionist who cares about the Zelda series more than his own life.
2. Mention of this would likely cause many people to give up.
Now, slippyToad’s method would make ripping this fairly easy, but I’m still not going to ask for it. Hey slippy, can I have a copy of the modified .brsar? I would actually be willing to rip these harp variations myself.
i’m sure that slippy is planning to re-up them again in FLAC; he’s just not ready to do that until he’s sure he’s got all the music from the game.
He’s already posted his fuller rip not specifying if he will upload the FLAC if completed or not and I’ve already PM’d him a day ago with no reply yet.
EDIT: Please, nobody else send slippy a PM on the matter. I have just sent him my own, with a list of things whose presence in the rip was unsure to me. I then asked that if anything is going to be left out, that he would please let me know what was. I also said that I apologize for bugging him if he’s not actually done yet.
As for getting codes from WiiRD, they’ve just completely ignored my posts.
Just a note but I believe there are two more variations of the battle theme: An minor alternate version when you fight in Eldin Volcano and one with digital-like SFX when you fight the Armos in Lanaryu. I’m not sure if there are more then that as of yet.
Cheers.
I’m pretty sure the digital one exists. When you fight the flying robot, when it launches two bombs that part of the song kicks in.
Can please anyone say to me how i use this tracklist from this site:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqHOdrXgAYlidEQ5cEVSQTk4UV9SM0xLZE9tTTF1V 1E#gid=0
I have MP3-Tag, so can i maybe import this list into it?
Thanks much for help!
The only thing is, where do the BGM BIG BOSS FLYING songs play in the game? Just curious…
Thanks again!
Lizalfos Battle!! YES!

It’s never used, and if you listen to the variation you can hear it’s looping rather badly. The sound archive on the game disc refers to it as BGM_BIG_BOSS_FLYING. the other songs that are referring to BGM_BIG_BOSS are the imprisoned battles, so I think originally it was used for the Imprisoned when it levitated in the third encounter(and the variation being the Groosenator variation).
Thanks

it’s slippytoad, not slippery toad. I think it’s either a hickup of Mediafire. I’m surprised you actually see a php warning on a professional website. I hope it does not disallow you downloading it.
oh its okay I can download it now! thanks for taking the time to do the ripping by the way ;A:!!!
THANK YOU~~~
oh and just for fun, no hard feelings, its slippyToad not slippytoad lol.
And I realized I misread slippyToad into slippery toad, sorry I do that a lot!
Hope you aren’t to offended by the way! xDDD
I have no IDEA why it’s not working, however.
