Dark Souls is such an amazing game, and the soundtrack is by Motoi Sakuraba to add icing to the cake! The music is pretty good for the game — it’s not always very thematic or melodic, but a moody ambiance that perfectly suits the game. So far, the only thing in the way of a soundtrack is the downloadable soundtrack that comes with the preordered version of the game. While the download is awesome, it is unfortunately incomplete.
I would first like to point out that when redeeming the download code on the official website to obtain the soundtrack, you are brought to a page with a list of downloadable videos, maps and a .zip of the soundtrack. But the name of the link for the OST is "Part 1". Is this implying that there will be a "Part 2" at some point? I’ve never seen From release a two-parter, so I find myself rather skeptical.
One song that I noticed was missing right away was a really nice ambient tune near the end of the game. As soon as you step into the final area (the Kiln), and begin to head down the stairs, that music begins playing. It’s haunting and beautiful, and it’s a shame that it isn’t included on the soundtrack download. Would anyone with the capabilities to do so be willing to rip the music from Dark Souls so that we can have a complete soundtrack of this game?
