I bought them from various places. Kenzan was from Otaku.com, Loser was CDJapan, Yakuza 3 came with the game, digital releases i bought from iTunes japan, KARAOKE BEST SELECTION ebay and The Best Original Sound Track was from yesasia, i think.

Did you favor any artists in particular? I was listening to Ryu ga Gotoku & Ryu ga Gotoku 2 Original Sound Track, and so far tracks by Hidenori Shoji stood out the most. "id" for example from disc1 is what I’m talking about.

Ryu ga Gotoku 1&2 are on my lossless request list if that could be a "right" signal for you, hoho. But I’m just saying, there’s no rush really, post it 5 years from now – still’d be good.

Yeah, I noticed that, but given what’s happening with file-sharing… I think I should wait a bit before returning in full-force into music-sharing scene… Getting stuff deleted after mere hours is never good, especially if you need something like 40 minutes to upload a 100 MB file like me, and I already lost 1 RapidShare Premium account, and two free on MediaFire lol. I don’t want to push my luck, but maybe by the time dust settles a bit the downloaders will also change a bit again, I mean the average kind: now they complain about rips not having .cue, .log, or even if it is an image/tracks kind rip (something which, as far as I know, is just a matter of "form", there should not be any difference in quality)… Argh! Thank whatever you treasure most you’re actually getting something, damn idiot. Luckily the Shrine doesn’t have many of that happening, but still, seeing it makes me miss the days when we welcomed a 128kbps encode as a blessing… even today it would still be a blessing, after all we aren’t supposed to enjoy any quality without the purchase of the original.

Well I guess there’s two sides of a coin to the situation here. While your argument of "a matter of form" is very true in my opinion, I think people might complain about it because of the risen quality bar in the recent years of music sharing. Lossless had become a golden standard and logs+cues are nice little extra to an overall package.

I remember though downloading lossless rips and being like "eh what is dis crap?" and deleting logs and cues from the folder, because they seemed completely unnecessary. And they aren’t to be honest, to an average listener.

And the whole "lossless sounds better then mp3" thingy is pretty much in "it is all in your head" type of situation. Unless your mp3s are lower than 192kbps you won’t really hear that difference comparing to FLAC. Ofcourse you might have super nice high-tech boombox or surround system installed in your house, or top of the line headphones, all those things surely can contribute to a better listening experience, but if you don’t have them (like me) then having everything in lossless is just a preference that makes people feel better. There are true audiophiles (I’m not one of them) who have their system all tuned up and cracked up in order to receive the best listening experience, but I believe the majority of audience are not all that "advanced".

Oh yeah by the way, I wouldn’t "complain" is the right word for it, it’s more like they ask and wish a rip to be a certain way, because at the end of the day if someone is going to complain to me about my rips, I’ll politely advise them to go flush themselves, because like you said, this could be the next best thing that’s available for free.

128kbps days of blessing remind me of a switch of video quality from CDs to DVDs and later on to Blu-rays for movies. Back in the days as a teen I was buying some pirated Anime CDs with the little money that I had with some movies on it and thinking this is "the shit!" and now we got uncompressed blu-ray quality… just wait for what they’ll come with next. Anyways my point is the video quality (or a lack of) is more noticeable with video compression then audio. But then again that depends on an individual interests and what you pay attention to the most.

I also believe that lossless is nowadays collected mainly to have the best quality possible as a backup… Too bad that many lossless collectors can be tricked way too easily, ahahah! You see, you just made me remember this – some time ago I shared a rip of the KTCR-1461 | BLOODY ROAR Original Soundtrack ~Primal Scream~ – VGMdb (http://vgmdb.net/album/2742), but the only things legit were the cue and the log, the tracks actually came from the Redbook Audio of my PAL game disc, I mainly adjusted them to make them usable with the cue. I know, I shouldn’t have done it, but damn…. Here you got these guys acting like some kind of lossless pro(s), going: "The drive offset should be like this"/"You must look for these things in the file’s spectrum"…. I had to do something about it. Seriously, they ended up tricked by a bunch of Redbook Audio tracks, with volume adjustments and gaps’ add…. They even confirmed they looked "legit", ah! Not even able to determine when the thing comes from the Album, or it is just a ‘decently’ touched-up rip from the game disc… Yeah, the likes of those shall really get true lossless from the official releases. You know what’s the funniest thing? They never seemed to notice they actually were tricked with that "album", or at least, I’m lead to believe this…. Never received much deserved "Screw you bastard!/Well played." answers lol.
If you don’t know how to deal with lossless, or how it works, leave it there… go and learn something about it… Or you might end up making a fool of yourself publicly, like the previously mentioned guys.

Anyway, to get back on the main discussion: I guess in the end I just want people to see the whole picture again, and not just what they want to see. Those quality standards… just how much do they ACTUALLY matter when sharing occurs? The sharer doesn’t owe anyone anything, after all, he/she’s potentially going to welcome a shitload of problems by uploading copyrighted material… I’ve always believed that downloaders are somewhat honor-bound to show gratitude and appreciation for such kind acts… but what does the sharer usually get by other side of the fence? "Do you have it in lossless?", "Can you please share the original files from iTunes?"… While a part of me wants to believe there’s still gratitude beneath it and such questions are being posted in the threads out of convenience (they don’t really have a place in there, there IS a request forum for that kind of stuff), the other one would very much like to say: "Just settle for what you get here and keep your mouth shut, if it does get posted in a better quality… MOAR luck/karma to you and the sharer. This is what he/she posted, leave the user alone".

It’s funny how some of them go and talk about proper rips… and all the while forget how to be proper downloaders.

I still have a couple of steps to do (eliminating doubles, identifying where the songs are used, relabelling) but would anyone be interested in expanded versions of RGG1/Yakuza 1 OST and RGG2/Yakuza 2 OST?

I’ve extracted all the audio out of the discs, eliminated anything we got commercially released, and am about to go back through the games in premium adventure mode to identify all the "game locations" songs. RGG1/ Yakuza 1 has around 68 new tracks. I haven’t eliminated all the doubles and Y1 repeats from RGG2/ Yakuza 2 , so it’s at about 177 extra tracks right now ( but i fully expect to remove like 30-40 of those as repeats reuses)

if someone wants to help with the identifying on Y1 ost, i could upload it as-is.

Which will be its format?

the program extracts them as wav, so i can do any format.
i’ve currently got the ones i’m working to identify encoded as mp3 ( so i can use my mp3 player to work while away from the pc) but once i’ve identified all the pertinent tracks, i can just grab them from the original rip, put them in flac or mp3, and up them.

i can also just up the untouched ripped wav soundfiles if somebody needs.I bruteforced all the audio (since I didn’t know the exact position of the BGM) but i only concentrated on audio that was 15 seconds or longer for this project.

I own the PS3 version and I’m not sure if the bonuses are bundled with every copy. I remember reading that the BEST OF CD was an exclusive pre-order bonus, so I’m not sure if yours will get the CD with it.

I have managed to get it, wasn’t easy as buying digital Japanese iTunes cards is more expensive than they used to be. Now they’ve been marked up significantly. In the past it was possible to buy a ￥3000 iTunes code for around $30, but now they cost between $40-50 -.-
I had to look for some sites offering them at a cheaper price and I’m happy to say I found one. I will be uploading both volumes sometime, probably tomorrow though.

Everything to do with that game seems to be expensive. Dunno what it is, but the game has really shot up in price lately too… :/

This happens to me occasionally as well. In cases like these, I copy the link into jdownloader and it is able to download the file fully.

Essentially, there is very little other than that.

Well, not very little, but the bulk of it are the idol and Karaoke songs. I think I only kept 4 songs from the entire second disk. Not because the tunes are bad but because I don’t really care for them.

I am DEEPLY in love with this entire series’ soundtrack, but I’m wondering if you guys have ever come across the full soundtrack of "Kurohyo 2: Ryu ga Gotoku Asurahen". You have one album of it, the theme of it basically but anyone able to find the OST of it at all? Would very much appreciate it, this has been my favourite thread of the forum for making me fall completely in love with the Yakuza soundtracks.

The closest I found so far is one of the composer’s soundclouds has his work from Kurohyo 2 on it – https://soundcloud.com/hideki-naganuma – so if anyone knows how to get the music off of there that’s a good start for you all 🙂

OST should have come out the same week as the game.
as I said in a previous post, Hidenori Shoji do not think that will come out ost (promotion has been minimized to make more with the release of Yakuza 6) between November and January for the promotion of the game not to when the game comes out very end of 2016 but the promotion will last longer…

Before Y5 all sounds and bgm were packed in bigfiles using CRI ADX format which were quite easy to extract and convert files in wav.
Then starting with Y5 they now use Wwise, and it is way more secure and hard to extract.

Kiwami OST. Someone posted this two pages back. It is official release, however not all the songs in the game are included.
Thank you kind sir. With the game finally being released next week, I look forward to listening to the soundtrack prior to that.

I knew the soundtrack was expected to be released today according to vgmdb but I haven’t found anything on it all. It’s not on iTunes Japan yet either but I’m sure it’ll be out sooner rather than later. Try again tomorrow or over the weekend.

I never knew it was going to be a physical release only, and I went and spent the last 20 minutes finding a way to edit my iTunes account to a Japanese version just to find anything on the soundtrack. Ah well! We may wait for someone to buy the OST and upload it for the rest of us I suppose. I did find a tracklist though, translated from Japanese to English via Google translate if it’s any good to anyone:

I’ve tried but the shipping fee is beyond my savings I’ve used 521 of CDJapan points but still a little expensive for me it costs the same as the game itself. To be honest, I still haven’t got my salary yet that’s why I can’t. My saving was only cover the price of digital release which would be around 2000 yen no more than 3000yen but now the CD is 3990 yen is a little too much for me. It’s still early days maybe now it’s still shipping to those who bought it. I’m thinking that now there is someone bought it and will be sharing it in some forum. I’ll keep an eye out.

The DX pack OST was just karaoke tracks from the series. The ones linked on that youtube video are recordings he did of ingame tracks and they’re missing various bits such as the intro.

I extracted unencrypted soundbanks from both Ryu ga Gotoku 6 retail game and the first tech demo using a jailbroken PS4 (can’t do it with Kiwami 2 since it require higher firmware)

They now use AWB file format to pack the sounds, I haven’t tried to unpack it yet.

Yes, it seems it plays in convenience stores and other locations, a lot of other similar songs which play in the same locations are extracts from other Sega games, and compilations, etc. I managed to track down the names of a few others while searching for the above, but no joy on the one I was looking the name of. Typical, eh?

I mixed this track by using the karaoke version and the voice of Noa ripped from the game file.

As you can see it miss a part because it is never sung by Noa in the game… But it still cool imo.

I’ve got myself the CD copies of Ryu ga Gotoku 1 & 2 (https://vgmdb.net/album/5550) and Ryu ga Gotoku 3 (https://vgmdb.net/album/11409)’s soundtrack I fetched from Solaris Japan, but I never got around to sharing them as my preferred WAV format doesn’t take kindly to 日本語 characters, plus I was more keen on having the other physical releases I know of before humouring any desire of a collection to share, particularly Ryu ga Gotoku The Best (https://vgmdb.net/album/25741), but that particular one can be priced pretty highly. I was also very keen to fetch myself the digital lossless releases as mentioned here (Thread 95649), but those purchases are only available in Japan.

I suspect it’s the Game-Rip sourced from the origin my previous post mentioned. I’m keen to be told I’m wrong, but I don’t believe an official soundtrack has been released (And I’ll be an eager customer for one should one release).

To address the elephant in the room, will we get the Kiwami 2 OST after the game releases for those in the West? It seems to be the case considering how we haven’t heard a peep in regards to said soundtrack. I may be wrong but just wanted to get that concern out.

Up ’til Ryū ga Gotoku 4: Densetsu wo Tsugumono, they typically had physical only releases that mostly covered the Battle Music (A shame too, as Ryū ga Gotoku had one heartbreaker of a theme for a Sub-Story scene (https://youtu.be/Y73EIne8te0?t=5m9s) I found within the game’s music data provided by the Joshw.info (Thread 95649) archives). Then Ryū ga Gotoku 4, 5, Of The End (Yakuza: Dead Souls) & Ishin! had mostly digital-only Two-Volume releases with a much more generous quantity of music seen in the games (The first volumes typically consisting of the Battle Music), with Ryū ga Gotoku 0: Chikai no Basho 80s Collection & Ryū ga Gotoku 6: Inochi no Uta getting physical releases (Ryū ga Gotoku Kiwami remains digital, with Kiwami 2 still to receive a release & hopefully Hokuto ga Gotoku/Like a North Star to receive one also).

There’s otherwise numerous other smaller albums from most of said games or even earlier ones often dedicated to their Karaoke performances (These are mostly physical as far as I’ve checked).

I suspect it’s actually a gamerip. I’d be surprised that the official soundtrack of the game in this day and age is only 16 songs in full. I also took a look at CDJapan and a few other music sites which sell CD’s of Yakuza game OST’s and there’s no mention of one for Hokuto ga Gotoku, as Bizargh said, so apologies for the misunderstanding.

Can’t believe that even now SEGA still won’t release the KIWAMI 2 soundtracks. We didn’t even see the partial soundtracks from the limited edition CD in here too.

Hopefully following the international release of Hokuto ga Gotoku as Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, we’ll see an official soundtrack crop up for both games in due time, particularly as I want me those incredible listens from Hokuto ga Gotoku and the highlights within Kiwami 2 from "Extremely Huge (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKZrU4QHZOE)" to ‘Fiercest Warrior (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooqzEdQgs8o)’! It would certainly be even nicer if they ended up on OTOTOY if not a physical CD, so a VPN or shipping cost is the only obstacle to giving my local currency to such deserving music.

OTOTOY does sell internationally (A lot of their releases tend to get the region-lock though, especially soundtracks), so if you use Paypal and have a VPN to by-pass the region-lock, you should be able to fetch it for yourself like I managed to (According to this site’s advice (https://asoundupgrade.com/region-lock-music/) I followed at least). I was meaning to share my copy at some point, but I’ve been busy gathering materials such as additional artists & in-game extractions. I ended up using Tunnelbear, but the files were too big for the free trial, so do bear that in mind if waiting on me isn’t something you can do.

I can also tell you that 龍が如く極 (Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami) also has a Hi-Res release on mora.jp (https://mora.jp/package/43000033/A46474/) (As well as Ryu ga Gotoku 0 Side A & B in Hi-Res too), but they’re a more difficult site to purchase from outside of their region (I’d love to get the rest of the Ryu ga Gotoku music there too, but something tells me they don’t include the iTunes Japan-only tracks, which Ninjy’s collection (Thread 95649) does kindly provide us with), and I’ve been keen to ensure I can pursue this one for myself as well.

This unfortunately isn’t anything substantial such as download links, but YouTube user Hai Dudu (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbXRi1yUjnF1gIc2c4_gXuQ) has a very wealthy collection of recent Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza music, particularly Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami 2/Yakuza Kiwami 2 (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdq9I2WXZljCOvBt8aYNMNLZmH9edeTBK) as well as Hokuto ga Gotoku/Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdq9I2WXZljDKJnB_aoyCPCsTV_MG7iBy) up for listening. I think these have been sourced from the game data ("only rip-offs from the game itself" was an excerpt from a comment by Hai Dudu for the ‘Ai Wo Torimodose’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbLOqkpAirs) track found in what I hear was Japan-only DLC for the game), but these are mostly the wholesome themes from the games (Although TheEryk24 (https://www.youtube.com/user/TheEryk24) still has versions that include their outros/loop-ends despite the lack of their intros/loop-beginnings for many of his available tracks).

I’d certainly love to be able to know where these are provided (The good old xxx.joshw.info/vgm.hcs64.com (https://vgm.hcs64.com/) archives has only received Yakuza 6: The Song of Life as the most recent addition to it’s in-game music data collection for the franchise), but these should satisfy ears until either the native data is provided/located or SEGA at long last provides an official soundtrack for both Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami 2 (I sure do want me the diamonds within such as ‘Extremely Huge’, ‘Update Under Gunfire’ & it’s edition of ‘Fiercest Warrior’) & Hokuto ga Gotoku (I just want the whole thing!).

Yes Hai Dudu make a fantastic job with the complete Hokuto Ga Gotoku ost, man the whole thing is well 64 tracks! First I’ve just listened the 16 tracks link available on the net but now after earing all the playlist, I can confirm the powerfull quality of this soundtrack. Even all the cabaret and funny tracks are really awesome.
I crossing my fingers for a physical release because those last albums are just essential for Hidenori Shoji fans like us!
It’s the same for me with the Kiwami 2 soundtrack, I received a great slap with "Update Under Gunfire" the first time. The rest of the album is just a killer winner. It’s funny because I’m again on the platine with Yakuza 0…(near 230h)and i’ve Kiwami, 6 and Kiwami 2 to do. Lol. It’s not for now, but the music is always so fantastic that we can feel the great moments and fights of the games with all the emotions even it’s not also powerfull that it can be ingame with the context and the real tension of the story.

Finally managed to get my hands on mora.jp’s release (https://mora.jp/package/43000033/A46474/) of 龍が如く極 / Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami’s soundtrack (Would’ve loved e-Onkyo’s release (http://www.e-onkyo.com/music/album/sega003/), but not even the Tunnelbear VPN was fooling that place and it’s strangely not available on the far-easier OTOTOY with the rest of SEGA’s present Hi-Res Collections). I’ve just finished cleaning up the tags/metadata (Even gave the VGMDB page a little update), extracted the cover (A nice 1500×1500) and prepared text files with more elaborate staff credits for both 日本語 & Romaji/English.

I’ll be sure to share it as soon as I can get it up on my MediaFire. I’ve also got my eye open for the still-inbound Steam release of Yakuza Kiwami to see if it will include any goodies like Yakuza 0 got.

I would’ve rather liked to fetch an official copy of ‘Receive You [Reborn]’, but as far as the information this site (http://kirbykun.hatenablog.com/entry/2016/01/13/000002) provides, I’m getting the impression from my limited Google translation attempts that it isn’t even on a CD, but limited to a Blu-Ray Music video which I do not have the hardware for, nor are there any official digital releases for it from the artist. There are MP3s out there (Ninjy’s got one of their own here (Thread 95649)), and TheEryk24’s got the In-Game File Extraction in his FLAC collection within his 龍が如く極 Playlist (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjg6J0JZzTSEl5fq5Cou-BHuX3bIrgJ5K) (Don’t worry, these are direct MEGA folder links with no Ad-jargon to wade through), so there’s no going without.

They do indeed end their tracks off. There’s no simple fade-outs, which TheEryk24’s collection tends to do as they often source from the in-game music data and/or recordings (And of course, they’re often concluded with the classic combat-victory stinger, although the Dragon Engine games did start using the actual song’s "loop-end" to cap off an encounter).

There has been no music release for Hokuto ga Gotoku/Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise as of yet (And I’m not the only one eager to see one), so I’m afraid in-game providings by TheEryk24 (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjg6J0JZzTSEozuhdXfC43gm1U4HzTD_y) & Hai Dudu (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdq9I2WXZljDKJnB_aoyCPCsTV_MG7iBy) are the best that I’ve come across so far.

Well, this sure slipped past me, but Hokuto ga Gotoku/Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise’s PlayStation 4 music data made it to the Joshw.info (https://vgm.hcs64.com/) archives (Search "Gotoku") a couple of weeks ago. They’re all .HCA & a few .ADX files, but foobar2000 (https://www.foobar2000.org/) with the vgmstream component (https://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_input_vgmstream) can playback and/or convert them no problem.
The big plus is that it’s all with very intact & identifiable names from the Iron Hammer’s radio to the characteristic Boss Themes (Even the Ryū ga Gotoku cameos), but "minig_casino_kinpaku.hca" & "system_menu_bgm.hca" don’t seem to produce any audio even via conversion, and I can’t find any file for ‘Receive You ~North Star~’ in the collection, so whilst very wholesome it’s evidently not 100%. It’s also worth noting most of the files have a bit-rate of 176kbps, with 255kbps the highest I spotted outside of the "movie" folder (Which is extracted from 日本語 Cutscenes), so aim low for any conversion formats.

It’s not an Official Soundtrack of course, but it should suffice until one occurs and highly supplement it should it do so.

I thought that collection was all MP3s. I guess I didn’t look correctly. Too bad about the Yakuza 5 not having a lossless soundtrack though. *sigh* Well, I got the Eurobeat track I wanted from that Taxi scene in my second prefered format.

If they had kept up their physical release streak, the only obstacle I’d have to overcome would be Local Import Tax on top of the International Postage fees (OTOTOY’s happy enough with you using a VPN to by-pass their album region-locks, but mora.jp’s more picky & only accepts 日本 bank, with myself having a trust issue or two with iTunes). At least ‘The Battle for the Dream’ can be attained as such (Shame I can’t circumvent the iTunes exclusivity of ‘For Faith (Instruments)’ though).

‘Bloody Moon’ managed to sneak a "Game Edition Version" into RGG5, but I believe only through iTunes Japan (It certainly isn’t on mora.jp), but it’s generally expected not to see them with SEGA’s releases (Though things got very weird for RGG4’s music releases with the amount of Sound/Music Team composed-tracks omitted outside of iTunes Japan, including Hidenori Shoji’s ‘For Faith (Instruments)’).

I’m just still left wishing for full official releases for RGG: Kiwami 2 & especially Hokuto ga Gotoku at this point. Glad Judge Eyes came along so swiftly, even more so it’s available physically as that makes it so much easier to import.

I’ve just placed an order with an eBay seller for the JUDGE EYES Original Soundtrack, along with Ryu ga Gotoku 6: Inochi no Uta’s (Solaris Japan had no copies available, and I don’t think I was going to have any joy from ebten.jp). It’ll take some time (Maybe next month, and Judgment’s arrival could be handy if translations for staff aren’t available), but maybe in the meantime, I’ll find spare time to return to preparing rips for what other CD releases for the series I’ve gathered so far.

On my end, I have at least been able to update the VGMDB page (https://vgmdb.net/album/81594) for JUDGE EYES：死神の遺言 Original Soundtrack with new information, but I still need to confirm the composer for ‘Special Record Vol.4’/Disc3 M22 ("ヨハン・ゼバスティアン・バッハ" is all I’ve so far got in digital text) along with remaining performers I haven’t been able to cross-reference. I might consider seeing if my scanner is up to the task for the CD Booklet’s contents.

Also, I’ve thankfully made the long-due discovery that foobar2000 can make WAV format files accept 日本語 characters for the metadata, so I can go overboard on multiple formats in convenience when I’ve got all the staff credentials I need, and even return to the OTOTOY WAV files for Ryu ga Gotoku Zero: Chikai no Basho Side A & Side B and give them their much-lacking metadata.

Although it was a very thorough 3-disc CD release, I’m going to assume some of it didn’t make it. Much of what gets omitted are Sub-Story or Exploration-related themes & stingers (Although these can be often re-used across the series), and this has largely occurred across the series.

If you go here and search "Yakuza 6", you will be able to find an in-game music extraction from the game that hopefully has what you’re after (Hokuto ga Gotoku/Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise is among them, but at least a couple of tracks are either missing or not included): https://vgm.hcs64.com/

Alright, Yakuza fans. I want to rip the PC English version of Yak Zero and eventually Kiwami when in two weeks. Does anyone know or have the tools to crack SEGA’s CPK format?

Alright, Yakuza fans. I want to rip the PC English version of Yak Zero and eventually Kiwami when in two weeks. Does anyone know or have the tools to crack SEGA’s CPK format?
I unfortunately wouldn’t know myself. But with the ease of model-swapping & existing PlayStation 4 modding scene (Steam practically had the original licensed tracks from the homeland release within the first day of release), there definitely has to be information on it.

I tried with Yakuza 6, the issue is that since Dragon Engine games, they are using new soundbank architecture, and it is really difficult to get anything.
For example, all cutscenes audio is encoded with both music and voices on the same track.
There is probably a way to get ambiant sounds but that’s all.
All the thing you can find on Youtube for example, are recorded audio with pause menu open, which is lowering a bit the sound and so is not as original.

joshw.info/vgm.hcs64.com has music extractions from the PlayStation 3 release of Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami just released on PC via Steam, so perhaps that may join it soon enough (The Licensed Music Restoration Patch was pretty much just waiting for the release to happen).
Although Yakuza 6: The Song of Life can be found there too, no newer release besides Hokuto ga Gotoku/Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise has arrived (It was developed on the previous engine that powered Ryu ga Gotoku 5 till Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami). And to my sadness, it nor Kiwami 2 have seen official soundtrack releases besides a small Limited Edition inclusion for the latter. And if one ever should occur, I would actually be surprised if the English performance for the Majima Construction Anthem (Though Ryu ga Gotoku The Best did include ‘Tears of Father ~Overseas Edition~’ from Yakuza 3’s Staff Credits, so you never know).

Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami basically is "Ryu ga Gotoku 0+1" (Or "Ryu ga Gotoku 0 with Ryu ga Gotoku’s Story & Cutscenes and Much More Majima"). Haven’t played the game for myself (Hoping to make my start with Ryu ga Gotoku 1&2 HD) nor can name any of David Bowie’s work, but I know they reuse a lot of the old game’s assets from motion capture & lip-sync, music ques from cutscenes & sub-stories, and more to compliment the assets & refurbishments from Ryu ga Gotoku 0 etc. It wouldn’t surprise me if music for the businesses was being reused both from the first game & 0 if not others, but maybe composers among the music team prepared some new material.

If that’s true, I can’t believe it would be easier to license Bowie’s music as a background feature somewhere in an in-game shop as opposed to getting prominent tracks like Receive You and Bubble from the Japanese versions.

But I nevertheless wanted to point it out for those looking for swift listening.

I wonder if the HD rereleases of 3,4 and 5 will have better sound or remastered in some way.

I would assume that won’t be the case and they’ll stick to the .ADX format all titles from Kenzan! to Of The End/Dead Souls, which according to foobar2000 sport quality ranging 397kbps 44,100Hz & 432kbps 48,000hz, which typically are higher bit-rates than the .HCA files for Ishin! & onward. But small changes have been made to at least Ryu ga Gotoku 3 & 4 so far (Notably Tanimura’s voice & likeness being replaced), so let nothing be ruled out.

Yes, I checked his collection on MEGA, he has the album in lossy mp3 quality. I was hoping someone had it in lossless quality.

Although it was a very thorough 3-disc CD release, I’m going to assume some of it didn’t make it. Much of what gets omitted are Sub-Story or Exploration-related themes & stingers (Although these can be often re-used across the series), and this has largely occurred across the series.

龍が如く (Ryu ga Gotoku/Like a Dragon), or better known internationally as Yakuza, is a domestically-oriented game series by in-house SEGA developer Amusement Vision (Who developed such games as F-Zero AX/GX & Super Monkey Ball), nowadays Ryu ga Gotoku Studio, that can best be summarised as "A Japanese Crime Drama, a 3D brawler and a light-JRPG all coming together". If you want something more concise (Even for how lengthy it is), The Yakuza Series | Your Next Favorite (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkN9oru-qCQ) by HyperBitHero is a very good way to get a grip on what this series is (At least it was for me as someone who really never found an ideal explanation for this series despite catching word on it for years), but bear in mind this particular one was made before Ryu ga Gotoku Zero: Chikai no Basho was localised as Yakuza 0 (He has separate follow-ups on Yakuza 0 & Yakuza Kiwami, when SEGA got really enthusiastic about localising the series again).

As for getting into the series, while many would recommend going back to the PlayStation 2 originals, they come with their drawbacks (Yakuza’s poorly written & directed English dub a chief example) and the much improved PlayStation 3 & Wii U HD Collection that ironed out a lot of technical drawbacks from the original PS2 releases was never localised for English. So many others would recommend picking up Yakuza 0 & Yakuza Kiwami on PS4 (Especially as the PlayStation 3 titles are getting enhanced re-releases there & many do hope to see them release internationally in the future) or PC (Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami & Yakuza Kiwami 2 have so far arrived, but Kiwami 2 looks to be quite demanding on hardware) as a starting point.
Though there are outliers such as the spin-off titles Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! (Like a Dragon Arrives!) & Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! (Like a Dragon Restoration) remain unlikely to see international release, with the former only on PlayStation 3 along with Ryu ga Gotoku OF THE END (Yakuza Dead Souls), which the aforementioned HyperBitHero explores.

As for music, there really is no weak link in the series as far as I’m concerned (Perhaps Kiwami & Kiwami 2 for their hit or miss remixes, but even they stand strong on their original music nonetheless). The PlayStation 2 originals lay down some timelessly enjoyable themes (‘Funk Goes On (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1uNUhIgC2g)’, ‘Intelligence for Violence (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnqOTOpinew)’ & series-signature theme ‘Receive You (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUNgVxH71yA)’ just three enduring examples), and the series continues hitting hard as ever with it with their own styles or series-enduring-remixes. Unfortunately, much of them are domestic-CD-release only and can be very pricey to import, with digital-only releases all region-locked to Japan (And we remain without an official release for Hokuto ga Gotoku/Like a North Star/Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise nor a full one for Yakuza Kiwami 2), so collecting the music for the series isn’t easy (The expensive nightmare I went through to acquire the mora.jp copy of Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami’s 24bit release).

As for what we’ve got here, ninjy’s Collection (Thread 95649) is a very wholesome lossy collection (Even Ryu ga Gotoku 5’s original iTunes release), I’ve got the 24bit releases of Ryu ga Gotoku 0 (Thread 95649) & Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami (Thread 95649) along with a CD-Rip of JUDGE EYES: Shinigami no Yuigon (Thread 95649) (Going international as ‘Judgment’), and xxx.joshw.info (https://www.hcs64.com/mboard/forum.php?showthread=26929)/https://vgm.hcs64.com/ has in-game music data for just about every title.

Yakuza Zero > Yakuza Kiwami > Yakuza Kiwami 2 is the most newbie-friendly route. Although prequels in general tend to be hit or miss (usually miss), Zero is very good. Kiwami is a remake of the OG Yakuza, and Kiwami 2 is a remake of Yakuza 2. These 3 games are all available for PC via Steam.

I can’t find the Majima Construction clan battle theme in the Yakuza Kiwami 2 rip. Any hints which song it is?

Unless you’re really in the mood to go digging through the archives, the remakes are a perfectly good place to start. The only problem is… and it’s not a huge problem, mind you, but Yakuza 0 is both the best and latest game in the series and also the best place to start. Only once you beat it and go into the remakes of 1 and 2, the drop in quality from a product refined over decades to the first attempts could not possibly be more shocking.

You absolutely should start with Yakuza 0 and then go into 1 Kiwami and 2 Kiwami. It just works from that angle. 1 Kiwami includes too much of 0 to be a good first starting point. They’re all fine games and worth playing, but 0 is just top tier.

Has the PC audio format for Kiwami 2 been made rippable? I’m hoping to make a custom version for myself if the tools exist.

I would not know of any tools at all. All I can say is that Kiwami 2 uses AWB & PAR files (Which the previous tech-based games such as Zero & Kiwami use CPK & PAR), and those that made a rip from the PlayStation 4 version did get HCA files just like the PS3 & PS4 releases of Ishin! through Kiwami, and seeing that we saw Zero & Kiwami have it’s music replacement files made for PS4 ready & working in almost hours upon their PC releases, I do think that if you can find the tool that did the job for the PS4 version of Kiwami 2, it should do the job for the PC version too.

Can you Please Confirm that the all of the MP3’s are 320Kbps or CBR ??

Not only do their official soundtracks remain digitally available (Region Locked sadly), their original PlayStation 3 in-game music extractions are very much available via the joshw.info archives along with the rest of the series on that platform. There’s been no in-game music extraction of the PlayStation 4 ports to my knowledge (None have turned up in the joshw.info archives), and I don’t believe any changes were made to audio to necessitate trying (Ryu ga Gotoku 0 & Kiwami certainly maintained parity across PS3, PS4 & PC to the point console mods such as licensed music restoration were ready not even 24hrs after release for PC), plus the last commercial release of a Ryu ga Gotoku Studio game’s music as far as I’m informed was Ryu ga Gotoku 6 with a small game enclosure for Kiwami 2 (How badly do I want an official release for Hokuto ga Gotoku/Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise).

The in-game extraction was what I was referring to in my previous comment since "the same thing" happened with the past 2 remastered versions, so to speak (I share your feelings in regards to Lost Paradise + Kiwami 2 lack of OST).

Now you’re just making me downright curious. Whose been extracting the PlayStation 4 versions? I certainly haven’t caught wind of any being done. While I’d still be surprised to see any change to music quality let-alone format (Unless they changed from the CRI ADX 4-bit ADPCM to CRI HCA, which would mean about a 50%+ decrease in bit-rate), I did just remember that Ryu ga Gotoku 4 did replace Tanimura whole-sale, so I’d be wrong in thinking audio is untouched.

In any case, the PlayStation 3 version should equally satisfy, which can be found here (.HCA files, playable/convertable with foobar2000 with vgmstream, all in the same bit-rate range of it’s successors):

The music extraction for Ryu ga Gotoku Zero along with Kiwami for PlayStation 3 can be found in the aforementioned links, Ninjy’s collection (Thread 95649) has what I believe is the iTunes release, and I’ve got the 24bit 48,000Hz release from OTOTOY (Thread 95649) up along Kiwami’s from mora.jp (Thread 95649) too (Though I need to update the WAV links for Zero now that I’ve figured out how to get WAV to accept 日本語 characters, but I know FLAC tends to be the favourite if not best choice, which has been well looked after).

I do have myself the CD copy along with Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan!, Ryu ga Gotoku 3, Ryu ga Gotoku THE BEST & Ryu ga Gotoku 6: Inochi no Uta with hopes to get my hands on yet more CD releases, but have not managed to get a rip prepared for those that I have no matter how much I’ve meant to (I’ve got my hands full with my copy of Team Sonic Racing Original Soundtrack Maximum Overdrive, a Borderlands series collection, and a need to update a couple of existing uploads with corrections or new information at the moment).

Apart from an existing WAV-Rip for Ryu ga Gotoku 6 (Thread 219149), my CD-rip of JUDGE EYES：Shinigami no Yuigon (Thread 95649) or the 24bit Digital Lossless for Ryu ga Gotoku 0 (Thread 95649) & Ryu ga Gotoku Kiwami (Thread 95649), I’m afraid I can’t be of much help. Hopefully someone else can be.
