*heartattacking right now*
I agree though, I really want to see what this has diffrent from the Intrada release.
Really, the only Poledouris score you can stand? I guess you never heard Starship Troopers.
As a proud owner of that release I’d like to inform you that those 2 cues are indeed on there. "News" is at the end of "Helpless Woman" and "6000 SUX" is at the end of "Betrayal". And Takehiro, my friend, I think you’ve been had. These are not recording sessions, but merely edits of the complete score as released by Intrada… Its most evident in the 3 cues that make up "Helpless Woman" (Drive to Helpless Lady, Drive to Hostages and News) in the way they fade in and out. Also "Across the board/End titles" is the version Intrada slapped together. "Across the board (alt)" was the version released on the OST. Itself being an edited together with "Drive montage".

Thanks for the info, jmn77. Sorry if anyone was disappointed.
I kinda had a feelings this is what it would be, but its still complete I think. I cant think of any cues not here.
Just sayin. 🙂
Or Under Siege II 🙂
Or Conan The Barbarian
All your guesses are in fact wrong, sirs 🙂 I’ve listened to what I believe is a fair amount of Poledouris’ work… and about Conan the Barbarian… I’ve even bought the 2CD Tadlow recording. None of his work, to date, achieved what’s been done by RoboCop…. I can actually give a full-listen to the Intrada Release and even put the whole thing in ‘repeat’. Mind, I’m in no way questioning the guy’s ability with music, I simply don’t like most of his – IMHO, better specify it, given the likes of folks who wander here – crap.
I think im just going to hold my tongue (restrain my hands) and let this thread fade away…………
"Oh my God! Someone doesn’t think Poledouris is an outstanding composer! Let’s kill him."
Meh… Heheh
I have never seen anyone hate on Poledouris.
Its not like he really gets a lot of attention like Williams or Zimmer.
I say, each to their own. But I just dont understand how you can say, "I’m in no way questioning the guy’s ability with music, I simply don’t like most of his crap."
Hes either skilled or crap; not both.
Yours is a minority view and kinda surprising, thats all… :S

I believe I did wrote an IMHO (in my humble opinion) there, but my english is rather rusty… So i’ll try to explain myself better: I don’t have the knowledge needed to tell when music is ‘actually’ good or bad (and to be honest, i’d like to never have it, i want to enjoy music as an ignorant). If Mr. Poledouris is regarded as one of the most talented composers to ever grace the Earth by so many people, there must be some truth to that, I believe. What I meant was: "He may had wrote wonderful music, but I can’t bring myself to view it as such, therefore i think it’s crap".

Actually, RoboCop (and RoboCop 3) are the only Poledouris Scores I like as well…

Well, it’s not that black and white… I can appreciate and recognize the talent of say, Brooks & Dunn. They can sing, they can play guitar and they can write a song. But do I personally like their style of singing, guitar playing and songwriting? No, not at all.
But, of course, greatest respect to LSK. It takes a brave man to state an unpopular opinion on the internet. I should know.

Speaking of myself, I wouldn’t say I dislike Poledouris’ music with a passion, if such statement came because of my "crap" definition, I offer my apologize: I’ve an habit of labeling as such whatever stuff doesn’t pick my interest after… how can I say it? Numerous tries/listens/plays.
As for me liking only RoboCop’s score, well, maybe it’s just a matter of nostalgia… I simply know that I’ve watched and rewatched the movie as a kid (much to my mother’s disapproval, she used to get easily scared by it), and today I can still listen to its score from the beginning through the end, something which doesn’t happen with other works by the man. Is such thing unfathomable? To many, yes, it seems… To me is not, to speak the truth I’ve seen it happen quite often, especially in the case of mainstream music, where you might end to like just one track out of an album… At any rate, I don’t care about such matter, to date I can only stand RoboCop, this is what’s happening. I think of music as a personal journey of the listener… Some bits ‘tell’ or make you feel something, others don’t, and those different works might have been composed by the very same person. On an unrelated note, that is the main reason why I dislike those who go and "review" music, judging its quality: in my opinion there’s no good or bad music, there’s just music. How can "you" tell me that I’ll probably like – or dislike – something, when I can be the ‘only’ one to decide such thing by listening to the music with my ears? Mine is a pretty dumb & simple view, I know, but it allowed me to avoid countless and useless arguments over the time, besides… I still have to find someone who can prove it wrong! Hurray! 😀 People should just enjoy what they enjoy, and leave alone the others… In the words of someone else: to each his/her own.
And no, I’m no brave man, I’m just someone with an opinion taking on the opportunity to make it known 😀
Link is STILL active… I just tried it.

I think you’ve made some important points. I also avoid music reviews, for similar reasons. But apart from when music "tells" or "don’t tell" me something, I avoid such reviews ’cause I’m of the opinon they’re not really about the music itself, but more about the reviewers knowledge of other artists or technical stuff. I want to listen to music, not read someone else trying to relate an abstract feeling or whatever, ’cause listening to music, for me, is a personal journey like you brilliantly put it. One other important reason why I feel so much film scores in general are overrated, is the repetetivness of it all. Too often a score is made up almost entirly of similar variations on the same theme which makes it all tedious. That’s not to say it’s necessarily the composer’s fault. Time is often limited and the composer don’t always get to work with the director on developing the music from an early stage in the production. Instead it’s too often a matter of being rushed in, with maybe only a few weeks notice. Therefor I tend to like the main and end titles (and sometimes a bit more) of a score most.
Thanks for the info jmn77.
Excellent. Can’t wait!!
These recording sessions are fake, as far as I’ve understood, just an edited version of the Intrada release.
