Duke Nukem: Forever AKA American Machisimo: FUCK YEAH!!

O.k. lets get to the point. I went out and got this game 3 days ago. I have never seen a more testosterone-laden man-fest in all my days. I think i feel a mustache growing in every time i play the game. The question i find myself asking is: This is Duke Nukem? Some blonde-head, uber-mensch who swills beer, pops steroids, and sounds like some Vegas redneck. He has threesomes with Olsen twin ripoffs. Now granted I have never played the any of the previous games, and i expected something seriously masculine from what i have heard about the character, but this is crazy! To be honest, i can see that Duke’s character was supposed to be a parody of American masculinity, but this guy goes into Rush Limbaugh satire territory!

But it’s funny, seriously funny. I guess as a woman i can laugh at this. But i’ll be honest and say the TV and movie tropes get kinda of lame after about an hour. The game play is solid but a little difficult for me, no shields, no armors, just Duke’s Ego. In the end Duke Nukem is a good game. I guess it’s what people have been waiting more then 12 years for. But i need to warn my fellow female gamers, check your chins, and upper lip for hair after playing this game for a hour. If you see any growth, stop playing immediately and cease playing for at least a day or until hair growth stops.

I think this game is just what Duke was all about. It got a few bad marks for some of the stupidest shit too. One is because Duke was being himself (like he always was) and got bad marks for that. It also got bad marks because his "health" regenerates and yet games like Halo or Call of Duty didn’t get bad marks for their regenerating health either. I think it was supposed to be making fun of those games too by even using the same elements that are supposed to be the "pros" of those games but can’t remember exactly since I read about it months before the game came out. I’ve only played the demo of the game and found it pretty fun…even if I was throwing Mr. Hanky around and trying to spell my name with the splatter marks it made on the wall for 15 minutes. I was a big fan of the old Duke Nukem games and unlike those who reviewed it, am very glad Duke did NOT change. Because Duke wouldn’t be Duke if he did.

ive waited half my life for it, i can certainly wait a little longer.

*sigh* I beat Duke Nukem early this morning. Not much left to say. The ending was short, and disappointing in my opinion. The final boss wasn’t even a challenge in my opinion. The game is too short IMO. Some extras got unlocked after i beat the game like God Mode and such. But i’m already looking for DC for the game and something else to play. So much for the mighty Duke Nukem.
