I’ve seen a lot titled tracks named in this way, especially in Recording Sessions…
Can someone tell me what are they stand for? I think they are numbers…but why in this way? And what for?

They are slate cues. the number before the M is the reel and the number after is the music cue in that reel.
So 1m2a would be Reel 1, 2nd musical cue. The A in that would be Pt. 1. Where B would be Pt. 2
2M5 would be the Reel 2, and the 5th musical cue in that reel.

On alot of sessions sometimes you will see it jump numbers. For example a sessions goes from 1m5 to
1m7. That usually means that 1m6 would have been a song or source cue. Which usually could be labeled
as 1m6s (The S meaning source music)

I figured that’s what all of this meant, but I never knew that when it skipped a number that it’s a song or source cue. So then maybe you can tell me why the Avatar Sessions are jumpy? It goes from 1m01 "You don’t dream in cryo…" to 1m04 Quaritch Speech. Where are cues 2 & 3? Because I recall absolutely NO songs in the film, not counting "I See You" at the end

It’s also possible that 1m02 and 1m03 were composed for scenes that were deleted
before the recording sessions – right? Scoreprano’s suggestion also makes sense.

Yeah, Gray, for Captain America we are certainly missing a ton. I think DAKoftheOTA was referring to Avatar.

From my memory, here is the cues from Captain America and where I’d guess they fit in. Anyone who is more familiar with the film could chime in on what cues may be missing. Also, are the cue titles somewhere on an ASCAP or BMI database like some other recent film scores?
