Per BSX:
"Previously released on a scarce compact disc by GNP Crescendo Records in 2001, BUYSOUNDTRAX Records now presents the original motion picture soundtrack to BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS, featuring music composed by James Horner, to coincide with the DVD and Blu-Ray release of the film on 7/12/11. The booklet features notes by author Randall Larson and the music has been newly mastered for the highest fidelity possible by James Nelson of Digital Outland. The music has been re-sequenced into film order for the first time. In addition, available for the first time, is a musical source cue composed by Alan Howarth, along with a library of sound effects developed by Howarth for the film. Concluding the album and our tribute to James Horner’s seminal composition is an exciting concert arrangement of the main theme from BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS, produced by James Fitzpatrick for Silva Screen Records in 1998, powerfully performed by the City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra."
If you enjoy this, please show the label your support by purchasing a copy which will ensure that more rarities are released. This particular release is limited to 1000 copies – buy it while you can!!
I will apologize now if this is a repeat post; performed a search and didn’t see it, but I could have missed it.
So, they put out a new album, with no new music, not the original score, and added a disc worth of fx? Is that the size of it?

I just updated my last post with the info from BSX’s site. I see where one may think that the whole compilation is by Nic Raine due to not clearly stating that only the last track is by him. I updated the original post to rectify this.
Secondly, this IS the original soundtrack recording, NOT a re-recording. As is clearly stated, the final track is a re-recording of the main theme – taken from an old Silva Screen compilation. It is from the City of Prague Philharmonic’s most notorious era; Presumably to fill up space, as the actual score is NOT expanded. When asked whether the album was from the same master as the earlier GNP recording, Ford Thaxton professionally stated "none of your business" and proceeded to viciously attack anybody who asked from that moment on – so deduce from that what you will. There is no appreciable increase in sound quality (same old vinyl source material) and in fact there is significant DECREASE; the dynamic range of this release is impaired.
In short, it’s a downgrade from the GNP album. It’s nice that the music is available again (in print) but if you have the GNP, and you’re not bothered about hearing idiotic dialogue snippets from the movie, dated sound effects, or 90 seconds of synthesised source music… don’t bother. You already have the superior product.
Sent you a PM and updated the download link in the main post.
Thanks!

here are no boots for this..both are official releases, and the fx tracks are the only difference.
What the late Herbert West posted here was the release that you refer to, 52 tracks release with Bonus SFX tracks, released last summer by BSX Records.
Could someone reup this please, can’t find a copy anywhere else! I want this version with the sound effects Please.
Thanks!
