Is it a coincidence you’ve posted in 2 of my FYC threads for the files to be reupped? Or are you just into collecting FYCs like I am?
🙂
Thank you, Thanks a lot 🙂 Most of these are quite different to the ones on the OST.
Edit:
Do you think you got a legitimate copy of the FYC disc, because if you notice on the Track "Train Sitar" at 1:33, you can hear the dialogue "Time for a commercial break ladies and [goes blank]".
The share is extremely appreciated, but I do hope that you did not pay for a non-legit copy.
That was on the MP3 version, which I don’t even know where I got. Somewhere online. But the physical disc doesn’t have it, I checked last night. You must have listened to the old MP3 version
I downloaded the copy which you just uploaded. That’s the only copy I have.
It doesn’t make much difference to me, the fact that you shared this with us is more than one hopes, but I just wanted to let you know.

Hmm…now I have to investigate. You’re sure it’s the ALAC version and not the MP3 version?
Edit: It would appear that it IS on there, I must not have had the volume up all the way. But it IS a pressed CD, it has the film’s title pressed on the underside of the disc, as do all my others. I can’t tell you why it’s on there…
One more thing…did you notice how the theme from "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" is heard in "Escape" and "Reaktor"? So maybe that is one reason as to why you can hear Anil Kapoor’s voice in "Train Sitar"
It is not the MP3 version, my iTunes says its ALAC(the files are in the .m4a format). Just to be sure, the file size for the "Train Sitar" track is 8.67 MB and the entire disc is 69 MB.

Yep, that is there as well. 🙂 Must have been some kind of a mixing error at the studio when authoring the disc in the first place.
Very beautiful music. If it helps you feel even better, it won the Academy Award for Best Original Score and "Jai Ho" also won Best Original Song.

Though it wasn’t released for/with the movie, a studio recording of the The German Film Orchestra Babelsberg performing Rahman, conducted and orchestrated by Matt Dunkley under the supervision of A.R.Rahman was released last year which contains "Mausam & Escape" (Different rendition, and yet as beautiful as the original) and "Latika’s Theme". The album is titled "Classical Incantations". If you love "Mausam.." like me, do give it a try, I am sure you won’t be disappointed.

It swept the awards that year didn’t it!
Around here, us regulars are known for what we collect / what our favorites are. Amanda likes James Horner and posts a lot of TV themed music, The Dimensioner favors Inception and all Pirates of the Caribbean, theeaglesfan005 likes The Dark Knight Trilogy. And me? I’m known to collect Academy Promos. Anything and everything. So I may as well post it here: it’s not a smart move starting a request thread for an FYC that’s up for grabs on eBay. Example: Thread 126298 it’s also in my sig
I find the score to be very interesting, coming from A R Rahman. I was practically raised on his music in 90s Tamil films – his renaissance era, as I like to call it – where he dominated that film industry with beautiful melodies (if interested, my personal favourite is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-j10LI8FS0, in particular 6:00 onwards). Since 2002-ish, his music has been less pleasing to my ears in general, but this reminds me of how things used to be. A little westernised perhaps, fair given the audience of the film and not at all a bad thing, but it’s definitely there. 😀
One gripe that I have about this promo, is that it seems to be missing a particular cue (as far as I can tell). It is from the final scene in the film, where the couple walks hand in hand into the light and the "Slumdog Millionaire" title is printed, immediately before the end credits roll. It can also be found at the end of the song "Jai Ho" (4:20 onwards at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxLSZoFK8EM). I was not overly taken with the "Jai Ho" musical number, and felt that it detracted from the film somewhat. However, when this beautiful closing cue played, that really clinched the film for me.
Aside from the absence of the aforementioned cue, this is a really good collection – and the full score is Rahman back on top form again. I will still be looking for a lossless version of the soundtrack, for that cue, but this is a great upload indeed!
