The limited edition 3-CD set will debut at the San Diego Comic-Con, July 20-24, (housed in the Toy Hungry booth #429), and will later be made available on the La-La Land website – LA LA LAND RECORDS, Film Scores, Music Scores, Film Music,Film Composers,MovieMusic, Composers, Film Composers, Movie Composers, Soundtrack Composers (http://www.lalalandrecords.com), as well as other soundtrack online outlets, beginning August 2, 2011 (suggested retail price $34.98).

Agreed! Wise words. Just to be safe we need to keep this one on the QT. Besides there are many other places to dig for titles that haven’t had the guns pointed at them as much as here.
If you are that scared, avoid posting stuff from these labels at all, new and old releases, keep them private. Seriously, now, any release can point to a ban on the "X" label. Just enjoy what you have, while you have it. If something is not on the "do-not-post" list of this community, you’re ‘free’ to do as you wish.
The Star Trek V: The Final Frontier Limited Edition 2-CD set was posted here.
There should be no harm in posting that.
Besides, there’s no Ron Jones.
As I said… it will get posted somewhere sooner or later. Let whatever forum happens to do it first take the shit for a change. LLL will do their NUTS if it’s us again but will probably just think "Oh well, we can’t do anything about it, the set is selling well so never mind" if another site does it.
Same treatment for everyone, please 😀
Or we play it safe at 360 degrees, avoiding new releases from every single label/game/anime/movie…. Or we keep doing like we do, taking the risk and facing stuff as it comes 😀
$150.00 for the set is a bit steep for most folks, even though it’s a 14 Disc set in addition to a bloated 5000 disc run was a bit much, these I think are the true reasons they state no more STNG releases from FSM, not the piracy issue.
I do agree though you folks should not post this new release on here under the bright spotlights.
yeah didn’t lukas kendall come up in here whining like a big baby?
No more so than someone who’s been burgled.

anyway, i wouldn’t post it just yet. when it is released whoever wants to post it should wait a while. i think what sucked about the RJ box incident was that the thing had barely been released and someone was on here posting it in flac. at least just do mp3 first
Regardless of all that, I expect that we are still being watched – and frankly, when we have enemies as comprehensively deranged as that, it’s a bad idea to piss them off deliberately.
Oh, since we’re on the discretion topic, allow me to be whole-heartedly honest. It’s pretty funny to read about discretion from some of you… Why do I say so? Let me explain…
Take a Varese release, which is not allowed anymore here, now pick a user which happens to request for it…. Here, take a look at the usual answers:
You got mail 😀
PM sent
I can hook you up with lossless/320kbps version
If you want to share the forbidden fruit, just do it, no need to advertise openly. If the labels, or whoever represent them take the time to check if links get posted, they’ve the time to read your posts, too. “Well, by the looks of it, our stuff is still being shared here. Let’s bring them down.”… I’ve seen japanese and chinese boards getting closed because of this.
You might want to be more… err… what’s the word… careful with your actions. Eh *shrugs*

I agree, this I why I share almost exclusively via PM now and it is unnecessary and potentially dangerous to the forum to post statements like "You got mail", "PM sent" and such when the requester will be notified automatically through the forum’s new PM Notification.

And this set coming out is really no more big of a deal than some of the other stuff being shared here. The RJ thing was such a massive thing, and already a touchy subject I think. I mean look, we have had NO fuss over that Elfman set at all, and it’s been posted now in every conceivable format…so I dunno. It’s really more of an interesting debate. LLL and Intrada are still allowed, so some soul will find this, either at another site, or by buying it, and post it here with glee. We all know they will. So, this is probably a topic just being discussed among some of us regular posters, just for the sake of it, and it won’t really affect the sharing. We can decide to quietly object, and not share it here ourselves, of course, but as Leon pointed out, that is hypcritical. Especially as I will dl it the second I find it…..

well yeah, exactly. i think he was generally frustrated he was taking a loss, then seeing it posted here just pushed him over the edge.
i totally understand, and in his position i’d have felt the same. still, as a businessman he handled it in an immature manner. if you look at the boards at the fsm site there is a thread titled ‘i will crush ffshrine’ and he posts about how he was able to hack and dig around and find sarah’s personal info.

i get very little music here anymore. when i do it is usually:
a) obscure video game music
b) fan-made "expanded" scores
c) OOP or generally difficult to find osts
i know this is still technically illegal and frowned upon but i think it’s gonna be more likely to fly under the radar, as opposed to a just released major label OST that can easily be purchased at a music store or amazon.

Ironically, I don’t think I will be. I’m the biggest Trekkie in the world, but by and large this music does very little for me. It is a fine example of music that works exceptionally well in the show but is snooze-inducing on album…
i agree. the tng music never moved me. it’s good background music when i’m watching the show, and some of the early ron jones stuff is decent, but in general i find to be nap-inducing.
i like the tos/tas/film music just fine

First: EEEWWWWWWWW! scary! and second: That is highly illegal and they have federal laws concerning internet stalking. Sarah could sue the hell out of that guy, and it would be SO easy to prove up in court! If he posted that on FSM’s site, there would be a trail proving that it was actually him posting that message. That could be shown in court, and a civil judgement could be worth a TON against this creep!
GO FOR IT, Sarah! 🙂
William

yeah stalking sarah for her personal info sure as hell won’t help his cause. i used to respect the guy until i found out about that.
Considered yourself PM’ed regarding the Jones thingy. 🙂
Hello. I may be interested with the ST:TNG Collection Vol 1 set. Since I’m requesting that, can someone post a link to that at your convenience? Thank you very much indeed. 🙂
Here’s a link I found :

Thanks, but I saw that site months ago. I was requesting a RAR download link (like Megaupload) La-La Land Records’ Star Trek: The Next Generation Collection Volume 1 set, NOT The Ron Jones Project. That is if some bought the Star Trek: The Next Generation Collection Volume 1 set at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Simmer down it hasn’t even officially had it’s "street date" yet, plenty of time, I don’t think that too many members of our fair establishment are within spitting distance of San Diego let alone the continental United States.
Mark your calendar August 2nd you will be able to purchase from their site.

OK, but since I can’t afford it, I may wait next month for people who are buying it to upload it on any day after August 2nd and post it here. Forgive me for my rudeness, please!
William
me neither but I found out Matt Smith and Karen Gillan are there so I wish I was 🙁

Is it possible it wasn’t him, and the account was hacked?
At least he didn’t have a machine-gun.
haha
Some guy, bullrich went off the deep end in a mass of threads telling lots of people to shut up, and variant of the same….
He’s got banned I think.
He was making new posts faster than I could read them… lol.
Some other members think he was an FSM troll, but that’s unproven.
Before this he’d mostly posted sensibly (?) in Takehiro’s Bond thread.
How could we possibly do that? You are here to right the ship!!
Yes, I got to meet with him in 1980, at the Scifi channel awards program. Got to meet Richard "JAWS" Kiel, and got to sit at the same table with Gene Roddenberry (He didn’t know me then, and when I reminded him later, he said that he had just gotten the bad news about STTMP from the studio that afternoon, and didn’t recall anything else that whole day. BTW, the studio had told him that the movie was a FLOP, and that there would be NO more TREK movies! Can you imagine? hehehehehe)
Also got to meet Carolyn Munro, whom Mark had bitten on the shoulder during a photo op!:)
UPDATE: I just Googled Carolyn munro 2011 and SHE’S GOTTEN FAT!!! HUGE!!!! looks like 300 PLUS!!! (YIKES) 🙁
William
For those of you of a British persuassion that’s just under 19 stone.
Well, she’s surely not the little 105 pound girl I saw at the Scifi channel awards show, I’m just saying! (I know, don’t call me surely!)
AND, since I am of British influance, that’s actually OVER 21 stone! not under 19! 🙂
William
did i miss something?

sparktank mentioned in STS the other day that there was a FSM troll lurking about
who? or are we not mentioning his name? like voldemort.
btw, i don’t mean to get off topic. i assure you i have the deepest appreciation for star trek music, though not so much for tng era.

It will get a separate thread.
Nope, not yet….It’s August 2nd or so yea? So unless one of us went to comicon…..
oohhh. i’d wondered what happened to that guy. didn’t think he was an fsm guy though.
William
I don’t understand your point.
FSM and VS release limited editions on CD’s, like any other soundtrack speciality label (Intrada, Kritzerland, Prometheus, BSX, Lalaland, Perserverance and etc). Why does FSM and VS need to learn, that any other label who also only produce soundtrack CD’s editions doesn’t?
If these labels still produce CD’s, then it’s because there are people who prefer the CD over digital files. And it’s not only the CD, it’s what that comes along with a CD edition (the booklet, the detailed notes about the creation of the movie and it’s music, track analysis, etc), the tangible object after all, something that you can not recreate, even if you have in your possession a copy of the soundtrack in lossless with a digital booklet.
I would argue that CDs aren’t a defunct technology – but they are a technology which faces competition from other mediums, and some of those mediums have rather significant benefits. CDs have their place and they always will – but downloads are important and should be embraced.
Importing is expensive and frankly, a pain in the arse. Whatever the cover price is for XYZ album, you can double it – at least – once you’ve factored in exhorbitant customs charges and silly postage fees. That and I can expect to wait anywhere between a week and a month for the package to arrive. There are so many albums in which I am interested enough to drop 7.99 on a download, but not 40 for the same product, maybe in a few weeks.
I understand and respect that some folk don’t like downloads – and I count myself as one in most cases; for things that are important to me, I want to own a physical CD, a something, an object. But, conversely, sometimes I just fancy getting a quick download.
So, why is it not offered? Very little initial outlay for them, and a massive market opened up right in front of their faces.
I remember reading that they don’t and it probably also affects re-use fees as its negotiating for an alliterative platform.
I was disappointed that when FSM chose to release the Ron Jones Box set, they did it only to Amazon & iTunes and not also in a place that provides lossless versions; like Bandcamp (where Mark Isham is using to sell his stuff)

"I figured … SPAM. Already mentioned. This was the man who went on a rampage insulting a week or so ago and got banned."
so are there any plans to finally give us a link, to the old star trek 3 disc album? i would love to listen to Fred Steiner’s final score.
This place is cool!
Great times,
Rob
An mp3 version will suffice and hopefully won’t bring too much unwanted attention. And if all goes well a lossless version can finally be safely shared after all the dust has settled and without any kind of implications to the shrine.
Better play safe than sorry, because the last thing we want is to see another soundtrack label banned from the forum.
No, I just checked those links, and they are working fine! Check your browser!

Lucky (and cool)!
Mine was ordered as soon as La La Land had it up on their site – but I’m in the UK and will have to wait sometime for it to arrive..
Anyone seen a download for it to put me on till the set arrives??
That’s great! You’re lucky :O)
Okay, so, how do they sound? The music that is, not McCarthy and Chattaway! 🙂
