This is just a thread that will have a list of current bugs on the forum, as well as some feedback / suggestions from me for forum improvement.

Current Issues / Bugs:

Register link does not disappear after logging in (Fixed)
Profile customization doesn’t work nor save any changes made (Fixed)
Show Groups page is broken (Fixed)
Cannot change avatars

Feedback / Suggestions:

The My Profile link could be removed, as clicking the username does the same thing
Add the read receipt option for private messages

When searching the forums, part of the time is cut off

I removed the searching forums bug that wasn’t a bug, as well as added another suggestion.

Well, since an official notes / bugs thread hasn’t created by the staff, I figured I’d create one.

Anyway, just simply posts bugs you’ve noticed here, and I’ll add them on to here for an organized list.

Current Bugs

I know you think you’re trying to be helpful and show the Admin/Moderators that you’d be a good Moderator. However, judging from all of your posts, stating the obvious as well as ignoring the fact that most of the problems you are reporting, the Admin/Moderators would already have something to let them know when problems occur. You’re not a Moderator, so please, leave it to those who are to sort the problems out. All your doing is making yourself look like a sad individual with no life, who lurks on the forum, picking on small things (I’m referring here to your thread about server timeouts… that thread is not needed at all for the same reason I stated earlier in this post) etc.

Hate to say this…. but I doubt you’ll ever be a moderator here. Just deal with it and move on.

Registering is for creating a new account. If you already have an account and logged into it, why would you want to register again? It makes no sense. If I was deliberately trying to troll you, I’d be far more insultive and abusive in my posts towards you Amaury. Yet in my posts, I have not done so towards you. Is that what you do on those four forums you’ve listed in your sig (which, if I recall, you broke a cardinal forum rule in one of your earlier posts on this site, more or less promoting other forums in your post!) to people who post valid and non insultive responses to yours?

The issues with Timewarp have returned, and it appears that all of the themes have reverted to how they were before the vBulletin upgrade.

God, this forum is always having some sort of problem. =/

I don’t really deem any of the ever-so-small bugs on here at all an issue that negates anything from the forum, personally. Probably would take more time to sort out than it’s worth.

The register link isn’t stopping me from posting or anything. 😛

It appears that all of the editing tools, such as to apply bold to text, are blank.

They’ll pop into existence soon. That has happened a dozen times to me.

I’m using Light (VB3) again because of the Timewarp bugs.

Yeah, it’s not really that big of a bug, but here’s (http://forums.ffshrine.org/f7/lets-do-timewarp-90743/#post1701595) the bug I’m talking about.

Yeah, guess it must just be a theme issue, I’m simply using the default theme currently and haven’t experience a problem yet.

Right, but the group pages are extremely limited in how much you can put in a single post. Because of that, we often have to split our messages into 2, 3, 4 sometimes even 5 posts. Meaning there are a lot more pages for conversations on the group pages. Thus, a lot more highlighting, then clicking to the next page, then highlighting everything again. It’s a pretty big pain. Hopefully, they can find some way to make the text readable.

Removed the group and editing tools issues, as they appear to be fixed.

I know this will sound crazy (cause I am), but would it not be more effective to just pm the admin when encountering a bug? Most of what you are reporting are minor glitches at worst. There will always be bugs in a system like this at any given time. Most of what you are reporting in no way affect the use of the forums….

And, time outs haven’t happened for me lately…

Alright, I just updated my original post.

I removed the forum skins / themes bug since those problems aren’t really anything major, as Jessie pointed out in another thread.

Small things like the skin issues from this point on will not be added to the bugs list.
If the staff want to take a look on their own time, that would be appreciated.

However, I won’t depend on them to anymore like I have been since I created this thread.

My apologies if I’ve been a burden.

Just that compared to some of the events lately, minor bugs in the system do not warrant a constantly updateds thread. Admin and mods are doing the best they can. There will always be stuff that slips through. Just be glad the site is as well maintained as it is. And don’t take things so personally, you big lug.

I know there are more important issues right no to deal with, but I just wanted to make a quick note that the user customization options are coming up and working normally now, however, any changes made are still not saving.

EDIT: Now that big black box when clicking a color to edit is back again.
The box that comes up to change the colors is not coming up, either.

If I understand that correctly, you’re saying that when, say, there are 100 replies, there should at least be about 150 views?

No matter how popular the thread is, if that thread was started sometime after the new year, with 100 replies, it’ll only have 101 views.

I remember this same bug happening a couple years ago. It was fixable then….

Hey, it’s been fixed! I had been going off of a Star Wars Episode III thread down in the download links which at my last check had around 77 posts for 78 views. It now has 108 posts for somewhere over 2000 views! And that’s all because Episode III is a highly sough after score and also because people like to argue about property and what belongs to whom. I should maybe try spending more time up here people aren’t so evil and backstabbing and rude and careless and n00bish.

Likewise. Other forum threads tell me it’s something mod-related and that you should disable the mods. But I am a new user and didn’t changed any settings…
Because of that it’s impossible to post replies… I thought it just my account. I am glad someone also has this problem :’)

I have big problems in this forum. When I try to post something, it looks like this:

The problem occurs with the newest Firefox.

On Internet Explorer I also get this warning and I can also not post anything because the frame where you are tipping your text is not showing up.

The reason your posts are getting caught in moderation is because you’re posting links and have a very low post count, so the spam filter is seeing you as a bot and automatically modding your post.

I’m gonna make a new thread for people with this problem, seems that after one post gets approved, this stops happening.

With the Internet Explorer I don�t have the problem with opening the links. Unfortunately the Internet Explorer has some other major problems (I can�t post anything because there is no Reply field).

Any tempory suggestion? This board is great but the bugs are so annoying. Do these problems occur with other browsers?

Just noticed this issue today:
When doing google search and following the links it always leads to a blank white page with "Page not found" on it.
But if using the site’s search engine it will go to all the threads that I’m looking for.

Not sure if it’s Google’s or FFshrine’s internal bug (or whatever it should to be called), but it’s a little inconvenient because google was always faster to find the right topic, if using the right key words.

The only bug I’m seeing is that when I click on View Forum Leaders on the Quick Links drop-menu, I get a white page with this:

It seems his account has been RESET. He had like 50 likes or less (can’t recall exactly), friends list was deleted, as well as the profile messages that we exchange together. And the join date is wrong. In his posts it shows one date, but when you click to see his profile, it shows another info that is not even EQUAL that is shown to us. :/

Either redirects aren’t occuring or Google still has the old format cached and needs to update.

After the forum directories got reset, the links within my megathreads now direct to nowhere. Will they resest themselves eventually, or do I have to fix all of them manually?

The links in the threads in your sig all seem to work fine for me.

Mine is just a guess, but probably this issue is happening because of the change in subforums/threads’ URLs format.
That could be the reason indeed… either way I can’t really experiment with anymore, because the issue disappeared, everything’s back to normal and redirection from Google works fine again. Hopefully the issue is not coming back.

Okay so yesterday i had reformatted my computer and when i tried to log in to ffs, i forgot my password, so while trying to guess the password i used up all my log in attempts, so then i had jessie reset my password again and he could log in but i was stuck with the quotia limit. So no choice to make a second account, but the bugs are still present. while i cuold still log in i still have posting issues and this code is at the top of my window.

When i post it takes me to a blank page with the same quote an i have to refresh the forum again.

Is anyone but me experiencing these bugs?

the problem is we can’t replicate the bug; i don’t get it, jessie doesn’t even get it when logging into your account which makes it really really hard to troubleshoot.

Why are all my settings such a mess? I just joined today, and at the top of the screen I see this message:

I think I tried replying to this thread before, but I can’t see it showing up, despite me getting emails saying I am subscribed after posting in it. Oh well. Main reason I’m posting is because I’m a new member and I’m getting some weird error at the top of the site on every page, as well as my Edit Profile page being completely messed up. Please see the pic below. Happens in Firefox and IE. In fact, as I type this, I can see that the same scrambled up thing is happening in the recently posted messages below where I’m typing now (on the Post Reply page). So it’s affecting multiple areas of the site for me. Really wanted to start posting here, but this is making things difficult at the moment.

The like button seems to have broken for me. I can click it but seems unable to register my click. Sometimes I’ll come back later and see that my like has been accepted. But currently, I can’t tell who likes any posts. All it says is "[heart] likes this." Who liked it? Will we ever find out? And when I like a post that has already been liked–and it registers my like–it reads "You and [heart] like this." Me and who??

Also, has anyone been working on that issue that all newcomers and old members who haven’t been here for a while keep encountering? That seems like an issue that should be looked into.

Still got the Warning fetch template line at the top of the page. Still my Edit Profile page is scrambled up to hell. And when I click the subscription link in my emails, I get a blank page with just these two lines (same thing if I click ‘go to last post’ in any thread):

I think it is either the 5 posts or a username change that fixed this issue for me.

Hey thanks. What’s exactly the cause of this problem, if I may ask?

I have a feeling it’s something to do with forum permissions, as it’s only affecting new members with hardly any posts – long-term members with high post counts aren’t effected. But I have no idea as to the underlying cause, as software code has never been my strong point (not to mention I refuse to touch admin settings in the control panel as I’m afraid of doing something in there that will break the site! :p )

In any event, Sarah, Jessie and Marce are aware of this so just have patience – the problem should be sorted out soon.

So I suppose I should just continue posting a bit longer and all my troubles will go away as well? While it’s nice that the mods can fix individual accounts, wouldn’t it just be easier to have a universal fix? Of course, that can be difficult if they can’t get to the root of the problem.

Okay, so now I wait a few hours….or? The site even refuses to let me log out, which I find a little disturbing. It’d be like going to Wal-Mart and then they wouldn’t let you leave and you’d have to find a way to escape (for me to escape, I think I have to delete this site’s cookies from my web browser).

The real question is….why would you want to leave? There is no escaping ffshrine. Also, fixed.

The problem is with certain plugins and user groups. Once people are moved to the registered (can pm) user group, the problems go away. So if people post 5 or more times and just wait to be automatically transferred to that user group, things will sort themselves out.

Why would I want to leave? Say I was in a public library and I wanted to read up on some discussions and post a couple responses and then get off. The next person to get on, although slim to zero chances of this happening, might want to get on the Shrine and then they wouldn’t be able to log me off. Hypothetical situation. But it’s all good now: all the errors are gone! Hooray! Certain plugins and user groups, eh? So, is a permanent fix being worked on? Or has the Shrine always been that way even many months or years ago–and therefore, there won’t be a forever-fix for incoming members?

I don’t know if this is fixable, but every time I log in, the forum defaults to the New (Light) background, even though it says Let’s do the timewarp and I always use Let’s do the timewarp. So I change the background to New (Light) and the background of course stays the same. Then I go to Let’s do the timewarp and finally it’s got the correct background. I don’t mean to complain, but it’s a minor gripe I have.

This happened to me on user profiles before they re-designed user profiles, but it’s not now.

I always log out, and the default is New Light, but when I log in, it changes fine. Do you have your forum skin set to Let’s Do the Timewarp in your settings?

Yep, I’ve been wondering this too. The only time you can see who actually liked a post is when it’s one of your own posts and you get a notification for it, and then you can see who liked your post but only by hovering your mouse of their avatar. It would be great to have that feature fixed; we didn’t have it for very long before it got borked.

Whenever I get an email notification that someone has replied to a thread that I am subscribed to, and I click on the link to see the new post, I just get a blank white page with this message:

For this reason, I have to do a google search for the thread, then click "Last Page" at the bottom of the page whenever I want to see what was just posted. It’s very annoying. Also, even when I do manage to see a page, the top of the page has a message saying:

Also, it is very hard to reply to threads. The box to type the message into on the "Reply to Topic" page appears for a few seconds, then it and anything I type into it disappears. I had to type this message out somewhere else, then quickly copy and paste it into the box before it has a chance to disappear.

I tried to upload an image from my computer using the image function, but it said that the picture has exceeded the quota by 3.2 KB, which is surprising considering the file is only about 7 KB. Is the maximum image size to upload from a computer 4 KB? Here is the message:

Got the same thing for about 10 minutes. It happens to me every now and then….

I don’t mind so much, except that it breaks the links on the search results page. Incredibly annoying in the Film Score/VGM Hunt Thread. Seems to be related to some advertisement template, which might explain why it’s only popping up for newer members (maybe the older ones don’t get so many ads?).

It’s because you’re new users, and this forum is set up so that you have to make at least 5 posts before you’re moved into the group for registered members to make sure you’re not spam ‘bots.

Either that or, as I’ve told others, wait for Jessie, an administrator here, to manually fix users, like you, with the problem.

You need to wait for Jessie to fix you up or reach 5 posts and wait a little while to get moved.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re new or not, if you don’t have 5 or more posts, you’re "new" according to how the system here works.

I joined a while back for occasional lurking and never understood why the strange bugs with "fetch_template" at the top of every page and the text on the user settings are all scrambled.

Any reason why vBulletin screws up the display for all new users?

Edit: It also seems that posting once with quick reply attempted to post twice, but the spam filter caught it and prevented the double post. I’m not sure if that’s because of Firefox or vBulletin though, because I have many browser extensions on all the time.

Second Edit: Reading ahead a bit more it seems like the cause of the bug is unknown. I guess vBulletin just has layout issues for new users with more limited permissions.

Try clearing your browser’s data. I’m able to access my user profile and private messages just fine.

The forum time seems to have jumped an hour ahead.

The current time is 12:04 AM PDT, but the forum is saying it’s 1:04 AM.

We’re not out of DST until 2:00 AM Pacific, but even if we were out of DST now, it doesn’t make sense that it would jump an hour ahead.

Sounds like they’re being put into moderation because you’re still new.

You need five posts to be put into the Registered Users usergroup.

They’re not being put into moderation. This has happened before.

He’s been here since 2011, so he’s not new, and he had already created threads and had posts since long before this year.
