Sorry, to clarify this is the score for the 1973 Richard Lester Movie.
I agree – I love the humour and romance and grandeur of the score. I don’t think Bay City records did a good job with their release. I have been looking for the recent CD release of Three Musketeers and Legrands ‘Robin and Marian’ score to see if the recording was any better.

Thanks, but the file is corrupt, my system says 🙁
Just downloaded and tried and the file is fine. Perhaps your download didn’t copy properly.
I tried again and this time all went well 🙂
Not to forget that there is a 1974 sequel* with a score by Lalo Schifrin. That music though is very different from Legrand’s style but also very nice.
And I certainly love the "classic" score that Kamen composed for the 1993-version, but the 1973 one is far more interesting and has more "bite" to it.
The new film from 2011 (and its music) is pretty hideous with the story and characters dumbed down (even more than in 1993) and the whole setting turned into escapist fantasy. Oh, it certainly looks nice with lots of colors and SFX, but that’s about it. And the music this time is way to "Zimmeresque" if you catch my drift.
The 1973/74 films still look gorgeous! Most excellent cinematography!
(*Actually both films were produced together which even led to a lawsuit.)
