Allright, so there’s been some annoyance with the existing 320k Portal 2 "OST" floating around, specifically some snaps, crackles, and pops scattered throughout the tracks, a general poor rip quality, and in some cases a missing track here and there.

So following the old saying of "if you want something done right…", I’ve taken it upon myself to locate a lossless rip of the Portal 2 Bonus DVD soundtrack, patiently download it from Russia, and then rip it for this community and whoever they share it with. Quality is vbr v0, using the lame mp3 encoder of course. I also found a neat Portal 2 art piece that could serve as the cover, since there isn’t an official one available. I hope you enjoy it as much I do, and a thumbs up-reputation for this post is always appreciated!

2. Ghost of Ratman
3. Love As A Construct
4. Reconstructing Science (Micro Mix)
5. Reconstructing Science (Nano Mix)

7. Science Can Be Fun
8. Sunshine 1 (Captured)
9. Sunshine 2 (Smart)
10. Sunshine 3 (Pure)
11. Technical Difficulties
12. The Lab’s Gone Dark
13. Triple Laser Phase
14. Turret Wife Serenade
15. Want You Gone (Ft. Ellen McLain)(Bonus Track)

9/7/2011 Update: Original rip may have had some issues with tracks not being correct due to a bad source, such as ‘Ghost of Ratman’. RadeonX1950 kindly shared a .wav rip of his DVD’s tracks, downloadable below. If you’d like the mp3 v0 rip, the link below has also been updated!

Anyway, thanks!

was Want You Gone included on the DVD? or is this an instance where you’ve added it on to the end of things simply because it wasn’t there initially?

If these were all taken from the vpk files, as i suspect (google gives me only this thread for "Portal 2 bonus DVD"), then it was included originally.

If these were all taken from the vpk files, as i suspect (google gives me only this thread for "Portal 2 bonus DVD"), then it was included originally.then calling this a "bonus DVD" would be somewhat incorrect then. it’d also make the files not actually lossless since all the files in the VPK are mp3 with wav extensions – correct? or is that last bit only applicable toward the voiceover set?

Most of the files are true lossless wav files. The real wavs play properly in any media player and i checked the spectrum on a handful of them.
The files with the wrong file extensions (Which i could only get to work in audacity without renaming) are the result of a bug in gcfscape (the software used to extract the audio, for anyone who may not know).

Also, i repeated the search with "Portal 2 bonus disc" and got only torrents and other downloads similar to this one, still nothing official.

Just as a reminder for those who only read this thread: The first of three parts of the Portal 2 OST has been officially released. Check this (http://www.thinkwithportals.com/blog.php?id=5527) blog-entry and download it here (http://www.thinkwithportals.com/music.php). 🙂

While this is all being uploaded as part of the three official soundtracks on their website, I’m sure some people will appreciate a more concise 1-disc soundtrack instead.

I have this bonus DVD. Actually, all people who have bought portal 2 in Russia also have it 😀 2 of 14 tracks are lossy (i don’t remember which is) by audiochecker info. Also, "Want you gone" track doesn’t present on this release.

I have this bonus DVD.care to provide actual pictures of it then? so far the only data you’ve been able to give is exactly what’s available on the likes of rutracker. would like to know, definitively, whether this exists or not.

This release is exclusive for Russia (like Half-Life episodes soundtrack in russian Orange Box).

Scan:

that appears to be the same scan of the disc in the torrent that’s up on rutracker.org. why is it that no one can provide an actual photo taken with a camera of this thing? or a retailer’s site or something that proves it actually exists? it just seems like a really elaborate/well done game rip compiled together from the multitude of files someone put together from the other set of wav files.

What more proof do you need?i get that it’s exclusive to your country but up until that point no one from that region who happened to have it seemed to be able to offer up anything other than a scan of the disc from the torrent mentioned.

my point wasn’t to put you on the spot but you can understand how easy it is to be skeptical toward such a thing not dissimilar to dealing with someone who could claim they had a scene rip of *previously unreleased album or otherwise hard to acquire release*. it’s far easier to fabricate an image of a disc and pass it off as a scan than it is to take an actual photo of the product in question.
