Hi, I’ve downloaded Sims Complete Collection and repaired the archive but it still says that track 53 is broken.

I will reupload a complete anthology of all The Sims music from the very first game to the last expansion/stuff pack of The Sims 3 when they are all released. Until then, I won’t reupload it.

Why are they in FLAC? The original tracks were encoded by Maxis in 128kbps mp3, with the exception of the load loop which is in ADPCM WAVE format…

I only put it up in FLAC before because they were such low quality and I edited the songs to loop 2x and then fadeout. Saving them again to MP3 would result in further quality degradation. Next time I upload it, it’ll be in MP3 VBR-0 🙂

Hope that would be soon (L) XDD, because it doesn’t seem that EA won’t stop releasing expansions for The Sims 3 :/

The tracks play through twice and then fade out on the third time over 10 seconds.

After editing the files, I saved them in FLAC to preserve the work I had done and the fidelity of the original files.

Yes it is. This rip contains all the music heard from the very first generation of The Sims games starting from the original PC release all the way up until it’s final expansion pack Makin’ Magic 🙂

AMAZING!!! The sims 1 music is outstanding, especially the bossanova tracks!

If you want a complete The Sims soundtrack, you must do with the 128 kbps from 15 years ago. There are a few lossless tracks on some official CD I don’t own but the rest is just that, mp3. And wav for the loadloops and random sfx.

I respect that OP took the time to make this collection, but just to say that the transcoding from mp3 to flac is really frowned upon on this site, it’s a bad practice and arguably false advertising. A simple look at the waveforms from the original mp3 and the larger flac included in this collection are identical, but there is some editing done on the files here… So yeah I guess it’s ok.

I don’t want to insult anyone uploading content, but just mind that other people might not have kind words for lossy transcodes to flac… Though I know you edited the files for loops and that’s nice so I understand why the flac saving process afterwards… Aw well. It gets so complex easily in the VGM preservation circles. XD

If vgmstream and loop points were mainstream tools we’d have way easier times collecting all of this. 😀

True, these are lossy to lossless transcodes. I know using a lossless codec doesn’t bring back any quality from a lossy source.

Only reason I post in FLAC is to keep original fidelity even if the file size goes up substantially.

If I didn’t do any editing and just posted streams then I wouldn’t transcode at all. I’d leave them all in the original formats like Alpha23 does.

A lot of my threads do state what the original source material was. Some of my older stuff probably doesn’t like this thead which has now been rectified in the OP.

But it should be understood that the [Game] tag means game rip which is most likely going to be from a lossy source.

A lot of those people who would get upset about transcoding seem to be concentrated inside the Film score section from what I’ve seen.

EDIT: Yes, vgmstream would help a lot, but MP3 files can’t retain loop point data. I keep it as simple as I can so that anyone could download and listen without having to install a new media player and/or third party plugin to listen to the music.

I understand, I have the same problem with my rips too… When working with Wii U games, yes they are in weird formats (non-mp3) so just that guarantees a flac transcode for portability and no loss in quality, but they are multi channel and you have to mute channels to have a particular variations out of the mess of channels… So I understand your editing work on it… 😀

Hi. I realize this thread hasn’t seen activity in awhile. But, I’ve recently begun playing the game again.

And while this rip has a good portion of the music, (like, 98%) some cues are missing. When a Sim is in Studio Town, they can sing at a recording booth. A couple of these short cues are pretty catchy, and I’m wondering if we can get them. I’ve double checked and I’m pretty sure they’re not in this rip.

Sadly, I don’t have the game at this point. But if I do happen to get it again, I’ll go hunting for those cues.
