Favourite Final Fantasy Character Knockout Game – Nominations

Hey there, with the poll result being the way it is, I’ve decided to include all 14 major Final Fantasy games, and Final Fantasy tactics.

Naturally with it being a knockout game, I’d like the initial round to be as close to 128 characters as possible, and with there being 15 games in total above, the closest number of characters in a balanced list would be 9 (that way, it’s 9 characters in 15 different titles, totalling in 135 characters).

Below is the 9 characters from each game I’ve chose, but my question to you is would you swap any of these characters out? And who would replace them? I’ll once again keep this open for another week, it’s a big project and I want to get it right, and not upset too many people.

The best format to do this in is to reply to this post in this fashion:

Characters to remove: "X" from FF2, "Y" from FF8, "Z" from FFT
Characters to add: "X" from FF2, "Y" from FF8, "Z" from FFT

That way you’re telling me who you don’t think should be in the knockout game, and who should take their place.

One more thing. Suggesting to remove someone like Cloud or Sephiroth won’t happen. I know there are a lot of haters for popular characters but they’re popular for a reason. Just like there’s no point in suggesting someone like Dancing Girl in the earlier FF titles who have no purpose. I want the right 9 characters, not your personal favourite 9. So try to be unbiased in your suggestions. 😉

Here’s my two cents, for what it’s worth:

Characters to remove: Ba’Gamnan from FF12, Ultimecia from FF8, Baku from FF9
Characters to add: Lord Larsa from FF12, Edea from FF8, Regent Cid Fabool IX from FF9

Final Fantasy XI
Aphmau – Eald’narche – Kam’lanaut – Lilisette – Luzaf – Prishe – Semih Lafihna – Shadow Lord – Shantotto

I wouldn’t include Eald’narche, Kam’lanaut, Lilisette or Luzaf… As they are only apparent in relatively short story arcs. I would’ve added the three heroes of Vana’diel:

Lion

A Hume female, Lion appears in a number of cutscenes for quests and missions. She is the adopted daughter of Gilgamesh, pirate leader of Norg. Makes appearances in Bastok, Windurst and San d’Orian missions and predominantly in the Rise of the Zilart Expansion.

Aldo

A recurring figure in Rise of the Zilart and Chains of Promathia missions, and arguably the main character in the Final Fantasy XI: A Crystalline Prophecy – Ode of Life Bestowing missions.

Zeid

Zeid (Hume-given name War Cloud) is a member of The Mythril Musketeers, though he has been missing since shortly after the end of the Crystal War. It was Zeid himself who defeated the Shadowlord, though the Iron Musketeer Volker took the credit for it. He is known for seeing the potential in adventurers to control the dark arts, and is therefore your main contact in the Dark Knight quests.

I would put these three in for the Final Fantasy XI section, as they cover more in the game, than the others I listed above.

Also Revan, as someone who hasn’t played FF11 that’s no probs. You’ve asked for 4 out and 3 in… do you want to suggest a 4th person to be included?

Anyone else have a dispute about FF11’s characters or other games?

Apart from Lion, Aldo and Zeid… as well as Prishe and Shantotto, may want to consider adding Tenzen (bearing of the Phoenix blade, altered form of the Celestial Avatar Phoenix, who plays a big role in Chains of Promathia). Keep Shadowlord/Raogrimm, as he does play a big role not just in all three nation’s missions, but also in Wings of the Goddess and in the endgame zone of Dynamis.

I’ll think of three more and post here, when I’m fully awake (as it’s 1:33AM here and falling asleep).

Just a small suggestion.

Remove Red XIII from FFVII and replace him with Rufus Shinra. I think Rufus is more important than Red XIII to the story.

I would also agree on the removal of Ultimecia from FFVIII and replacing her with Edea.

To clarify, you’ve suggested:

Which sounds good to me, and fills in the 9 spaces. Unless other people say otherwise I’d say they’ll be the 9 people from FF11. 🙂

Just a small suggestion.
