Silent Hill Sounds Box

Was curious if anyone here was planning on getting this box set. I’ve already bought the OSTs for the second and fourth games and Zero (Origins), the third and Shattered Memories came with the games, and I downloaded the first’s off iTunes. So, it really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to shell out $150 for so much I already have, especially when business is slow and I’m not making a lot of money.

All I’d want are high quality rips of the Homecoming OST and bonus CD (the one with the arcade and extra tracks), 192kbps or higher. Someone on this board claimed that the US promotional Homecoming disc was taken from a lossy source, so if that’s true, I’m hoping the Japanese CD will be from a higher quality source, in which case linking me to a download for the promo CD wouldn’t suffice (especially since I already have it downloaded).

I’d greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out with this.

All I want is the 8th disc! Please, to anyone, it’s so expensive and hard to get and fucking exclusive to Japan and it’s killing me to not have the full version of ‘Lost Carol’

Yeah, so Homecoming aside, all the previously-released soundtracks are exactly the same. If they were longer OSTs with, like, ALL the songs in each game, this would be a definite buy, but I just can’t shell out the dough for repeated music. No point.

The Homecoming OST has a different version of "Alex Theme" (through Yamaoka’s MACHINE HEAD moniker, used for his No More Heroes 2 tracks), a different track order, and should be from a high quality source, so that one I’d definitely like, as well as that bonus disc with all the exclusive goodies.

The complete ost’s include the full version of Lost Carol with the DIALOGUE between Douglas and Claudia. This version in the disc is just Mary E. McGlynn’s vocals, or so I beleve this version here in the SOUNDS Box to be.

I just bought the box (along with Laputa: Castle in the Sky on Blooooooooo-rayz).

My poor, battered wallet…

Supposedly each soundtrack is "remastered," so…I dunno… I guess I’m not getting the EXACT same thing as what I already have regarding those soundtracks. Plus it’ll be nice to have a physical copy of the first game’s OST. I just hope this remastering (if indeed they are remastered—and if they are, I see zero point, since the original CD masters sound fantastic) doesn’t blow.

Anyway… If nobody uploads the Homecoming OST and bonus disc before I get the box, I’ll rip and upload those at 320kbps.

i just found out about this today, exciting news since i’m a big silent hill fan. i have osts 0,1,2,3,4, already, i might get this sounds box.

Canceled my order with Amazon (they have no idea when they’ll get more in stock), placed an order with Otaku.com. More expensive, but it’s the only place I can find it in stock, and I want this friggin’ thing. ;p

Yes, I did get "free" shipping on a figure once. Joke was on him. Box was damaged but the figure was immaculate and hella cheaper than getting it new, even with the shipping in the price.

Hey guys, just want to give an update. The links for the FLAC files, videos [from the DVD] and scans of the inserts should be posted and ready by tomorrow.

Which format for videos would be best for everyone? I have them already in VOB. I’m pretty sure most DVD players and Windows Media Player are able to play those kind of files. If there’s another format preferred, just let me know.

**"Silent Hill Extra Music" link fixed!**
All the files below [except the songs "One More Soul to the Call" on Homecoming and "Always on My Mind" on Shattered Memories] are in FLAC.

"One More Soul to the Call" and "Always on My Mind" are WAV files. When I tried ripping these two tracks as FLAC, they came out distorted. I’ve tried re-ripping them several times. They continued to sound bad. But the WAV versions came out great. So I included them instead. Sorry about that. I have checked the rest of the FLAC songs. They came out great as well. For some weird reason, only those two vocal tracks just refused convert over properly.

**Remember, if any of the other tracks sound bad or don’t sound right, tell me and I will see what I can do.** I can create links to MP3 versions too if no one is able to. But that’ll need a few more days for that to happen.

The shipping cost isn’t added to the normal price either because it costs the same as on cdjapan and you need to pay extra for shipping with them.

Never pay for fedex on cdjapan, i made that mistake once and never again.

The entire box is broken down into four parts. Would anyone still like to have the MP3 version to where the discs each have their own link like the FLAC files do?

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. Good news is the ISO file is currently being uploaded as four split links [since the entire file exceeds a gigabyte]. Bad news is I can’t find anything to record both video and audio of the main menu from the DVD. What makes it harder is that the main menu scene does not have its own separate file, and it’s not integrated into one of the other videos. It only appears until after all of the videos have played. But if the ISO is extracted and burned to a DVD, likely the main menu scene will be included. I have tried burning the extracted folders from the ISO to a DVD, and it worked.

Yep, sometime menus don’t have their own VOB file, but what do you mean it appears after? After the whole dvd is played on your computer with one of the media players?
In any case if the iso was created with a decent program (DVD decrypter, sorry not trying to quote myself but its probably the best tool for the job :P) then the menu will be included. For sure.

Yeah, the DVD goes straight to playing the trailers first, then the main menu would appear. Thanks for the feedback.

Judging by the scans on the previous page they seem to have replaced the original version of Alex Theme with Alex Theme (Machine Head Mix). I only noticed because I was looking to see if there were any extra Mary Elizabeth McGlynn tracks added.
