It was more like a guess. I heard 10 posts more than once so I figured this might be right.

It does seem to vary. I know many who still can’t after 5. Maybe it is just the lag for the system to catch up?

To clarify, the variation depends on the time the system activate the PM function, so it can happen at 5 or 8 or 23 posts, it doesn’t matter. The only condition for the system activate a member is when they have a minimun of 5 posts in the forum.
There are a couple of threads opened in the help section for this, explaining how it works 🙂
