Thanks a lot! Good way to sample for the upcoming 3CD ost (I don’t like sampling with game rips).

If I consider this a representative sample, I can save my money and avoid buying the full soundtrack. None of these cues are very exciting and the horrible synthesized brass is just painful. I suspect we can blame the synth on the game being on Wii.

I bet the soundtrack would be better in full. Just wished they had made this soundtrack like Lost Odyssey in terms of production value… Thanks for sharing anyway! I like Timbre of the City as it is very atmospheric and calm.

I think it might be more the choice of arranger to add to the lack of production values. Yoshitaka Suzuki just makes Uematsu sound like Hans Zimmer.

Thanks a bunch. Wow I really like this Ost. For better or for worse, the way games are scored has changed. I really think Uematsu has found an awesome balance between the new more film like score and the traditional JRPG type. The music makes me want to play the game, but..I don’t own a Wii and never will.

the weakness of this compared to the actual gamerip made me hope for the to-be-expected large release of FF 14, which might really be better than the samplers we got

Well, there’s no games I really want to play for it. I don’t have any interest in Zelda or Mario games anymore. No more heroes is coming to the PS3 etc.. The Last Story is not enough to get a system for. Plus I gotta save up for the PSP2, once I see the line up for it.

Synth is an issue with the game’s budget, not with the Wii itself.

I’ve only just got round to listening to this and I’m pretty disappointed. To be frank, if proper orchestra sessions aren’t possible, why write a score in a big orchestral style? Same thing happened to Epic Mickey of course, but Jim Dooley quite cleverly overcame that for the most part by composing in a ‘pointilistic’ way, with only the odd brass clanger and anorexic string line (most damagingly in the main title tune).

Crystal Bearers, Sonic Colours and Mario Galaxy all got the right combo, so there’s no excuse. A (good quality) Wii game is many, many, MANY times cheaper to produce than its equivalent on the HD twins; if anything, there should be more funds available for the soundtrack :/

lol..me too. The ost was supposed to have dropped on the 23rd in Japan. Most times people got it up the next day on here..or sooner.
