Thanks! I imported the game a month ago and played through it (even though I don’t know Japanese) and really enjoyed it. The incomplete music rip from the game that someone put on youtube didn’t do justice to Uematsu’s great score (and neither does the 7-track "premium" soundtrack).

Not to sound ungrateful, but is anyone else having difficulties decompressing the file? :/ I get an error on Track 2-14 (Pub for Gathering), and then the rest of the files (i.e. all of Disc 3) fail to open.

Nobuo Uematsu shows he can be a master in his craft provided he is given the right game to work on. I seriously hope Mistwalker can set up as a moral follower of all the great games prior to Sakaguchi leaving Square Enix. Anyone notice that ever since it merged with Enix the plot of each game has been getting worse? Don’t know for the most of you. But for me the company doesn’t decide of the game. It’s the people making it that do. That’s why this OST is epic, it reminds me of how great the past was.

EDIT:
On a side note: This ost sounds like a Jason Bourne Movie on Final Fantasy Steroids. It’s a good thing, perhaps a different style, all depends of Sakaguchi’s vision with the score. But it’s not odd because the final sound vision and mixing was given to Yoshitaka Suzuki and Tsutomu Narita, respectively for most and except 2 for the latter. Surprisingly for most of the time it felt like the main theme could have had a calmer vision, if not the internet site’s theme for the game would have been great. I believe Nobuo did get to mix alongside Tsutomu Narita on the two tracks "meoeowmeowmeow" ( however it’s spelled :P) and The Pub.

Omitting that and excluding the theme’s tendency towards a movie score at times: Uematsu’s melodic,motivic qualities can be felt in each theme.
