The "Official" Star Trek Sound Effects thread

Okay, everyone that wanted them, here they are:

Be advised, some are WAVs and some are MP3s! I have included the "Generations" sound effects as well, just to put them altogether. Most are in mono (sorry) but hopefully you will find them to be very clean sounds. More to come.

Wait…. It’s on the blueray, but not the standard DVD?

And, Izbot, the only reason that I was able to get the SW SFX from Ben was that he was "retired" when he sent me those. I wouldn’t want to push my luck to get the new trek sounds from him right now. Perhaps a year or two down the line, if they do another movie, and if he is actually going to do the sounds from them. since he did use some of the sounds from Doug that I gave him!

Trust me, you DO NOT want that Crescendo POS, you would want the 3 CD set! they are all from the MASTER tapes, and not messed up at all, direct and CLEAN!

Uh, SoundSource has a collection of TOS and TNG sound fx, plus sounds for the Motion Pictures, plus Interactive Utilites for DS9 and Voyager. Anybody have any of them?

Soundsource had come out with alot of older computer programs on CD back in the 1990s that had sound effects in them. I actually found a Sears site that was still selling a "Voyager" soundsource program for your computer, to setup Trek sounds in your computer. They are 8 bit, mono, hissy and choppy sounds, very bad and the programs look as old as they really are, not worth your time or interest, trust me! 🙂

To answer your question…I have a small file (11 mp3 @ 320 Kbits) of sound effects with three Borg Alert sounds…one is Red Alert, Red Alert (2), Yellow Alert, there is Borg Door sound effect as well. Plus there are several other Race’s Alert Sounds as well. They are all in mp3 @ 320 Kbits.

Garrrrr, I cannot believe I am so late to the party on this! Given HotFile’s untimely demise some time back, none of the links here are working any longer. I’m dying for a copy of William’s 3-CD set of Trek sound effects from the master tapes. Any chance of a re-up somewhere? Please?

As a kid I would hold a tape recorder up to the TV speaker to record the TOS sound effects, then record my own Trek "radio shows" with a friend. All of our audio was ripped lovingly from TOS episodes via Betamax, haha. I just about died when the GNP Crescendo CD came out; it was so great to finally have clean sounds. But it was missing SO much stuff, particularly the bridge button sounds from TOS seasons 1 and 2 that I am so fond of.

If anyone could re-post that 3-CD set mentioned on the last page, I’d be ecstatic. And if there’s anything similar from the TNG era, I’d love to hear that too as there was never any commercial release of TNG sound effects that I am aware of.

No, it’s just a fan owned site, but CBS is closing it down, because they were using too many photos from the two recent movies. CBS doesn’t give a damn about TOS all the way thru to Enterprise. They are only protecting their most current shows.

Well there’s that Ds9 computer game… If someone could find a way to extract sounds from it, that might be the best available source.

Any idea of what that game was called, as I can certainly try to have a go!
