Favorite Flash/Indie Games

There’s gotta be more people out there who play free online games. Just about every day I’m on OneMoreLevel.com (http://www.onemorelevel.com/). But I know that hosts only a small sample of what’s available.

Any recommendations you all can give for flash games or free indie downloadable games would be awesome. 😀 😀 😀

I play this one pretty frequently. It’s super relaxing.

I love Higher! Completely forgot about it. I played it when it first came out, but not since. I’ll add it to the list.

I also ran across this list (http://www.indiegames.com/blog/2011/01/feature_top_freeware_experimen_1.html) of the best freeware experimental games of 2010. This was the top five:

1. One Chance
2. Covetous
3. p0nd
4. Ute
5. But That Was [Yesterday]

Of those, I’ve played But That Was [Yesterday], Covetous, and One Chance. This stuff tends to be high concept without a lot of variety in gameplay (the culture of indie gaming right now I guess), but is worth checking out. None of it takes much more than a few minutes to beat.

Another one I forgot was Super Columbine Massacre RPG (http://www.columbinegame.com/), although I’m not sure I’d consider that one of the best indie games I’ve ever played. It’s certainly interesting, and memorable, although I don’t think the creator worked hard enough to get his ideas across, leaving the audience unsure of how to interpret the work. Any of you all ever played it?

– and Super PSTW Action RPG (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/495903), which is a parody RPG that’s even more notable for one amazing review (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/558516) it got that someone turned into its own flash video

So this thread is ancient. But I’m not bumping it for just any old reason. Recently a flash game came out that’s on a par with Super Mario Bros. Crossover.

If y’all haven’t played Abobo’s Big Adventure (http://www.onemorelevel.com/game/abobos_big_adventure), check it out. Nostalgia explosion.

Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Mahjongg/taipei. Mahjong. Play a free MahJongg solitaire tiles game online. Chinese towers board game. (http://www.freegames.ws/games/boardgames/mahjong/mahjong.htm)

This one’s good. Plays smoothly, the tiles are readable, and there’s no background music to bug you. However if you do win a round, the volcano in the back starts erupting and I think it’s a bit too loud 🙁

That same site has a pretty decent block puzzle game too. The last time I tried, the solitaire game wasn’t working though so I ended playing that here… World of Solitaire (http://worldofsolitaire.com/) You can change the game, the background, the cards, and turn off the timer if you want. It’s a decent one…
