So…

As some of you may be aware of, on November 1st there was a update on Xbox Live for the new Kinect as well as a dashboard update. That update, for some was accepted with no problems whatsoever, while others (Myself being in this camp) have been swamped with numerous problems and being told by Xbox Support over the phone and on twitter that "We’re currently working on fixing this, and we are sorry for the inconvenience.".

Now I’m aware that problems may occur, but what has me annoyed is the fact that M$ is ‘passing the buck’ so to speak, handing problems off to another department and being told nothing about the problem. I”ve spent a lot of money on M$’s creation this year, but this is enough.

I’m going to be trading in one of my Xbox 360 consoles (I’m still keeping the Slim as that is still under warranty (til June next year) and I have some games which are only available on the Xbox 360 which I enjoy (Until I get my PC upgraded, then I’ll get the PC versions)), but my Elite console as some games will be traded in for a PlayStation 3 the next time I’m passing my local EB Games store.

The majority of games I have on 360 are available on PS3, but what I’m after here is some recommendations for PS3 titles that may be worth looking into after I’ve gotten the PS3 versions of the 360 games I have. Currently the PS3 has versions of:

Dynasty Warriors 6
Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires
Assassin’s Creed II
Oblivion
Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age: Origins Awakening
Saints Row 2
Grand Theft Auto IV Complete Edition
Transformers War for Cybertron
Alpha Protocol

of which I have the 360 versions of. So now… what recommendations for PS3 would you recommend to a dissatisfied Xbox 360 owner?

LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted 1 and 2, God of War III, Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, MAG. Those are just a few of of my favorite games. I don’t actually have MAG, but what I played was awesome.

Demon’s Souls, Valkryia Chronicles

Seriously, Demon’s Souls is probably my favorite PS3 game.

Wow, it’s unfortunate Death’s Head is upset with his XBox 360 like that. What am I to do with the one I bought?

I still have my Xbox Slim, which I’ll keep for my Xbox 360 Exclusives… just gonna have to pray that Microborg releases a patch to fix up the problem I’m having.

you could also give the kinect bar to me and sell that slim like a regular xbox, as i would like to actually own a kinect to videochat

LittleBigPlanet, Uncharted 1 and 2, God of War III (if you want more of the same), Killzone 2 (It’s not as good as other FPS games around and Killzone 3 is coming up. Still, it’s pretty good), Metal Gear Solid 4.

Demon’s Souls, Valkryia Chronicles (Really slow, but lots of fun if you’re into it. The sequel on PSP is better)
This plus the Ratchet and Clank games and maybe 3D Dot Game Heroes (which I haven’t played, so I ask around about it).

Depends on what you’re looking for. I’m just gonna vouch for the single-player games, because I don’t really care about MP.

Demon’s Souls, Littlebigplanet, inFAMOUS, Valkyria Chronicles and Folklore. All are must-play games, imo.

And forgive me for asking, but aren’t you jumping the gun a little bit? You’ve expressed multiple times in the past that you dislike the system. Yeah, you’re having trouble with your 360 right now, but they’ll eventually fix the problems. Don’t get me wrong, I love my PS3, but I wouldn’t want you to get a console you might regret buying because MS was giving you trouble for a few weeks.

"Jumping the gun"? In your opinion I may be, but from my perspective, this was a long time coming. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the Xbox 360, but I’ve been thinking of getting another console for awhile now and the PS3 has always been in the back of my mind, just waiting til some titles come out for it which would interest me. I don’t dislike the system per se, what I dislike is SONY… for reasons I’ve stated in the past and in numerous threads. However it’s now a case of A: Keep my Xbox 360 Elite and pray for M$ to sort this shit out or B: get a PS3 or C: get a Wii. As I hate the Wii (Yes, I’ve played a few games on it… I hate the damn motion sensor controls) with a passion, the PS3 is the lesser of two evils for me. Like I said, I’ll still keep my Xbox 360 Slim… but the Elite is going to be traded in for a PS3.

Well it just seemed like you were doing it on impulse because the 360 was giving you trouble. But I guess I just misundestood.

I see a lot of recommendations for ‘LittleBigPlanet’. What makes this so easy to recommend?

It was great replay value (getting 100% in a level is often a challenge and there’s lots of custom levels online) and it oozes charm. It has probably the best level design I’ve seen in a 2/2.5D platformer, with lots of hidden areas usually unlocked by challenging physics-driven puzzles.

I was blown away by the game when I first played it. I had perceived it as a floaty and tedious platformer from what I had seen in videos though, so it’s possible my reaction was because of my extremely low expectations.

Killzone 2 and Valkyria Chronicles are the only PS3 exclusives that I’m that bothered about.

Demon’s Souls and Heavy Rain were okayish, but didn’t live up my expectations. My only other ‘must have’ suggestions are multiformat things like Batman: Arkham Asylum and Bioshock.
