This is great music…. but… what puzzles me is the music that was used on American TV as the intro/prologue/advert…. the pulsing drum beat and rising crescendo. This isn’t Fenton’s work evidently since it is absent from the two disc soundtrack. I wonder who composed this short bit and is it available?

God knows. The UK trailers used some rubbish by an Icelandic band, I think. I’ve just done a little research, and I think what you’re looking for might be this: YouTube – Epic Score – The Time Has Come (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k86BvVYyYW0) – in the interests of friendship, I’ll withhold my opinion of this "piece" of "music" and just say that I hope it’s what you were after.

Yes, my research last night turned up THE TIME HAS COME… it was edited down to just about 60 seconds for the Discovery Channel here in the states… and I liked it better better at 60 seconds than the full 2:45 version. Thanks for the help very much!

That’s a good share, tango. Thanks!

Fans of orchestral music should give it a listen even if they’ve never seen Planet Earth. It’s quite good and works well on its own. It’s the only nature documentary for which I’ve ever paid money to purchase a soundtrack. Now I just need to finish watching the show!

Oh snap, there must be heavy percussion in this track! 😀
