What a blast from the past! I remember watching the original broadcast of this series and being enthralled. I liked Jarre’s score enough to get it on cassette, but haven’t listened to it in decades (since I stopped using Walkman cassette players). Thanks for this!

I just sat back and listened to my vinyl version of this…not sure I could enjoy it the same without the familiar surface noise
– but it is a lovely score.

For me, Maurice Jarre was one of the last of the ‘old school’ of film-music composers; musicians who knew how to write an ‘epic’ score (maybe I should add that to Schumiszt’s list of badly-used words) and be totally original.
