Donkey Kong Country Returns hype thread

A bunch of previews have come out about this game in the last couple days and everybody is pretty much saying the game is awesome. It’s extremely difficult and has loads of secrets and collectables.

I am pretty pumped about this.

Looks good, by if there’s 1 Wii game I’m getting over the holidays, it’s Epic Mickey. Warren Spector is back, baby!

Looks like they have borrowed from LBP a little. But you can still see the SNES game there a lot! I think i’ll be getting this, if not buying it then definitely renting it for a weekend. I don’t have my own wii but there is one at my Dad’s that is never touched.

I didn’t see any ostrich bonus level though 🙁

Yeah, finally another DK Country game! My favorite all time DK game was definitely the first Donkey Kong Country, that’s on my top favorite SNES games and top favorite games of all time. It’s good to see a "Return" to Donkey Kong Country.

Retro Studios are developing the game and they’re pretty great. They’re at least a far better developer than Rare is now.

Microsoft fucked Rare up, (just like they do everything else). Microshit bought out Rare in 2001 or 2002, basically after Conker’s Bad Fur Day released on N64. It’s too bad because they were one of my favorite developers. From Battletoads to Donkey Kong Country to Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark and ending on Conker’s Bad Fur Day.

I enjoyed Donkey Kong – Jungle Beats Wii; it removed that stupid bongo crap and felt more like a proper DK game than the N64 one did.

I’m hyped for this as well. 2 Wii games in a month for me it’s amazing. The other was Kirby’s Epic Yarn.

BTW Flux the Zoe Deschenel (sp) avatar is awesome.

Very much looking forward to DKCR. I was a bit disappointed with DK64, so hopefully this game will make up for it. If RetroStudios was involved with this game, then you’ll know it’ll be good since they worked on the Metroid Prime series and it didn’t disappoint.

Epic Mickey definitely looks worth getting as well. 🙂

I’m waiting for another Klonoa or BlastWorks myself…but I doubt that’s ever going to happen.

I’d hope not, since the NSMB games haven’t been that good. They’ve been way too easy.

I was also hyped about Kirby’s Epic Yarn, until I found out you can’t die in that game, now all my hype is focused on Donkey Kong. The original still stands as one of my favorite games out there.

I wouldn’t know, don’t own a system that can run it (a PC or PS3/Xbox360).
I beat it at a friend’s house, and it was fun while it lasted.

I’d say it has as much as AC1/2.
Play it in another six months or whenever you just want something pretty and simple to play.

I have faith that Retro will do well with this. It would be nice to get a new Star Fox or F-Zero sometime in the near future.

I lost all interest in F-Zero when I started playing wipEout, however, the ORIGINAL F-Zero is still all kinds of effing awesomesauce.

Oh, boy, Donkey Kong should be great. Not sure why it’s so important to me, but I really can’t wait to see the lighting effects with sunsets and stuff.

F-Zero just totally owns Wipeout on every level! Sony just plain ripped off F-Zero with that one!

Actually, wipEout was developed by Psygnosis. At the time it was a 3rd party publisher and wipEout was available on PlayStation, Sega Saturn, PC and Nintendo 64. It wasn’t until much later that Sony purchased that company which is today known as Studio Liverpool. To say Sony ripped off F-Zero is like saying nascar ripped off Grand Prix Motor Racing and Formula One. The idea of racing super-fast futuristic hovercrafts is not all that original either.

donkey kong country its my best game of all time ever, i love it more than shenmue its my # 1 game. i hop they make it like the the fun of rareware did to us.
