This is a request for a very old rip…and I am offering a trade request in exchange, anything of mine or that you want me to find.

I want someone to take the .gbs files, and split them then convert to MP3. They are at:

http://gbs.hcs64.com/p/Pokemon%20Sil…(Nintendo).zip

Do you want them timed and everything? It’s pretty simple to do yourself if you’re okay with them all playing for a standard length of time.

Its not taht easy for me I’m afraid. Every time I tried it, my converter crashed on me. and yes, timed. each song should play through completely twice before fading out. And do include any songs that weren’t found in the final game, if there’s hidden song data like in my rip of Emerald.

UPDATE: Also requesting someone rerip PokePark Wii, because the only rip out there on Rapidshare EXPIRED on us. We’re missing that and Pokemon Puzzle Challenge.

I totally could do the conversion and everything, but it might be easier for you if we can work out what the problem is and then you could make MP3s of whatever else you want. It’d probably be easier for me too since I have a slow upload speed. Tell me each step in what you’ve tried and we’ll fix it. It shouldn’t be too tough to get a working method since there’s a couple different ones.

Long story short, I have a player that can play GBS files, but when I try to rip things, it crashes. I just get the windows "oh, your program crashed" screen, y’know?

Well, both Winamp and foobar2000 work for me, and you can get multiformat plugins that play GBS for Winamp at http://www.zophar.net/utilities/audio-multi/nezplug-.html and foobar at http://www.zophar.net/utilities/audio-multi/game-emu-player.html. I read that the foobar one was more accurate in emulation, but it kind of hurts my ears. The Winamp one sounds less harsh to me and I compared both plugins to the OST release of the SaGa soundtracks and Winamp’s is closer, but you can make your own decision.

Sorry if any of this seems obvious and I’m treating you like you’re stupid. Trying to make it clear and complete.

In Winamp, go into Options, Preferences, and Output then select the diskwriter. I don’t think you’ll have to change it, but make sure the format is set to WAV. It is possible to convert to MP3 with Winamp, but the encoder that comes with the free version only allows awful quality and I had no luck with the third-party MP3 writer plugin. So I got LameDropXPd (http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lamedrop.php) to convert them, which is a cool program. The tagging component is kinda stupid though.

With foobar, you have to select the files in the playlist and right click to select convert. It’ll ask you where your MP3 encoder is located. Click the "…" to change the options and select your format. Go to RareWares (http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php) and download one of the LAME MP3 bundles and then point foobar to the .exe file. You can change the encoding quality level in the options with the Edit button. Regrettably not as customizable as LameDrop though.

Both players can mass tag files. In Winamp you have to import them to your media library and select multiple ones, right click, yadda yadda. In foobar, simply select, right click, yadda yadda.

You should be good with either of those ways. Report back how it goes. You can ask me about any other option or whatnot and I’ll answer as best I can.

Perhaps you should try a clean install of Winamp and make that the only added plugin. I know it sucks to do that, but it’s more painless than it feels like it would be and you don’t even have to get rid of the old one. I’ve got two because I was having trouble with the vgmstream plugin working in my main one. Really, it should work and it works for me. Try that or foobar or there’s another Winamp GBS plugin (http://www.zophar.net/utilities/gbs/meridian.html). Pick one, if it doesn’t work, I’ll upload MP3s.
