Wow, I haven’t downloaded yet but wanted to thank you right away…grew up watching this tv show and can’t wait to hit that giddy nostalgia button, like only music heard as a child, can. 🙂

It somehow never occured to me that Road To Avonlea’s score would be out there (I guess I should look it up at Amazon and see if it was officially released! Probably OOP if it was, though.)

Why does the album cover say it was composed by Don Gillis, then?

Dunno, don’t have an album cover to look at. The archive is tagged as Danna….maybe more than one composer for the series? Ya, I see it now. I do not know, that’s a good question.

Hmmm. Amazon lists the composer as Gillus too. Sigh. NI can only assume the archive was mis-tagged, and mis-filed. :/

Babydoll is right : Road to Avonlea – Danna is one of a number of composers contributing to this series

The CD Universe entry lists this 41 track promo, but lists Don Gillus as the composer. I know nothing much beyond that, sorry.

Customer reviews on Amazon for this are poor at best, saying that the main theme is missing, as is much of the more familiar music. Then again, one reviewer wrote he was disappointed, cause this was not a "soundtrack", but just some bits of music from between scenes, and it was all variations of the same music, and who would buy a cd of that?? :O

Anyhoo found this bit of info here:

In notes for the Road to Avonlea Original Soundtrack, composer John Welsman wrote that "For Sarah’s theme, I wanted the music to suggest the kind of freedom of spirit and elegance that the young Sarah Stanley possessed — her strength and determination as well as her softness. ‘The Story Girl’ theme was originally composed for scenes of her running freely through the fields near Avonlea in ‘The Story Girl Earns Her Name’, but after hearing it, Kevin Sullivan chose it for the ‘Main Title’ music for the series." The soundtrack was a special feature released with the Road to Avonlea Complete Sixth Volume DVD set

Perhaps if there are many different composers. ? Still, if this is the same disc as in the picture, then Gillis should be credited?
