i want to extract music from a PS2 disc, but i couldn’t find anything that could help me do this. i’ve googled a bunch of things, but the game im trying to get the audio from doesn’t use the same file formats as other games

im trying to extract the music from Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, and the only files i see are .HIP, .HOP, .IRX, .PSS, and a .80

I can’t help too much, but you I know you can’t extract MP3s from video games, they need to be converted somehow. Maybe take those file extensions and put them in Google like "hop mp3 converter".

Sorry I couldn’t be a little more help, I’m new at ripping too.

I dont know this particular game, but:

is there a file that looks like it has the music inside? Maybe its an archive called music.hip, or sound.hop or whatever with all the tracks. It must be a larger file then. Or several smaller individual files with single tracks. You’d have to extract or atleast convert them then.

The music could also be sequenced, which would make it way harder to rip unless you already know how to do so. Just looking at the filenames wont help you identify this 🙂

Resurrecting an old thread! Has anyone figured it out? I’ve managed to get into the .HIP and .HOP files with Game Extractor, but still can’t find any music. There is dialogue, however, in the .HOP files.

Chances are the music aren’t in the .HIP or .HOP files. Try the .IRX and/or the .PSS.
If they’re not in there, I’d like to see some screenshots of every file in the disc.

And how might I extract the .IRX and .PSS files? I’m not an expert at this.

I’d like to do a tiiiiny bump. I’d like to grab the music from this game plus SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, PANTS! Can anyone help? I’m looking at the game disc for PS2 (Lights, Camera, PANTS!) and it seem all the games big files are in a .pak file. Looking into an opener for the file now.
