FF XIII causing problems on PS3 consoles

I’ve only ever had Fallout 3 and Uncharted freeze on me. That I can recall. I know XIII never has.

Thanks to this game…My PS3 is now a hunk of junk in a friends house…beyond all hope of repair!

So why is people talking only about this and not the fact that it also causes RRODs on 360s (so say TVTropes)?

Never had FFXIII do this to me. At first I thought my PS3 taking longer to load between scenes was an indication of troubles ahead, but turns out that it’s just because the chapters are getting longer.

Oh wow. Though I will say I have never experienced any kind of freezing on my PS3. Well Fallout 3 has froze my PS3 many times before. It’s something when a game freezes the system, it’s scary when the game freezes and restarts your PS3. I stopped playing Fallout 3 ever since lol. But the FFXIII thing, maybe they might of had a dusty PS3, or faulty disc. Who knows.

I’ve gotten in the habit of deleting my saves after I finish a game. Makes me much less paranoid about games glitching or causing problems (and being OCD about getting stuff like THOSE LAST 4 BLAST SHARDS :mad:). This would obviously be a bigger problem, but playing Fallout doesn’t scare me in the least.

I got my place in Megaton. Things are going quite well this time around 🙂

Yeah. Uncharted’s frozen on me before too. That seems to be the only game I’ve experienced that on.

Another reason for me to hate this game. This happened on my neighbour’s Xbox 360 yesterday… and he just bought a 360 Elite that day as well. From what I’ve been told by a few others who have had the same problem, they think it’s SE’s fault, as they have played FFXIII on both Xbox 360 and PS3, and have suffered freezing problems leading to Red Ring of Death (Xbox 360) or have "caused their PS3 consoles to freeze and become totally and permanently inoperable."

Course, Sony and SE are playing the blame game on each other, but both are at fault imo.

What do you mean by "both are at fault"?

Is it a particular point in the game where it freezes and crashes? Cos that would probably be a scratch on the disk. Ive had that many times on ps1 and ps2. My FF13 is xbox360 version and i never had any problems. Bought it on UK release day. I always install the disk to the HDD before playing a game so that might help maybe…

Both Sony and Square-Enix are playing the blame game and not doing anything to rectify the situation.

Hum… because just about any game can do that to a 360?

Any game can freeze a ps3, Mirrors Edge made my ps3 freeze a couple of times but i did’nt start whining about it like a bitch LOL but seriousley freezing ps3’s suck, they dont make them like they used to, i have a snes that must be 17 years old and it still works like a charm.

I agree. All of my older consoles (PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast, Saturn, Megadrive/Mega-CD, SNES, Master System, NES and even my old Milton Bradley Vectrex) still work just as good as the day I bought them. This current generation of consoles, the workmanship for them, isn’t up to par.

I had FF13 freeze on me during a cutscene, and after restarting the console(PS3 Slim) I was no longer able to read any discs what-so-ever.

Luckily my manufacturer’s warranty was still valid, otherwise I would’ve been quite pissed.

FF13 has never froze on me, the only game that has Grand Theft Auto 4

A guy i know had MGS4 freeze on him and afterwards it stopped reading discs LOL he only had his ps3 for 2 weeks.

Also Grand theft auto 4 froze on me once…..

This game also causes problems in my brain.

I’m playing it on a system on which it has now been played for over 200 hours, and no problems.

i never experience that…

until after i watch too many movies by using ps3…
