Why was my IP banned from the site?

I’ll try to make this as brief as possible.

Two nights ago, I was browsing the site as per usual for about 5 minutes before I started getting a network timeout error. I didn’t think much of it at the time, and figured the site was just going through some unexpected downtime.

So the next day I try again, and I’m still getting the error. I ask two of my friends to try, and both of them are able to access the site just fine. I try clearing my cookies, clearing my cache, rebooting my modem, flushing my DNS, pretty much everything. Nothing worked. I try to connect directly to the site’s IP address and, again, no luck. This made me think I had not only been banned from the forums, but from the entire ffshrine.org servers.

So, today, as a last resort, I try using a proxy to access the site (what I’m using right now) and, what do you know, it works! That’s good, but it confirms my suspicions and raises the question I’m totally clueless about… why was my IP banned in the first place? I pretty much never post, and visit the site fairly infrequently.

Can anyone help me out with this? To the best of my knowledge the ban was put in place around 7:00-7:30 PM (PST) on Friday night.

sounds like a problem with your isp, not with us banning you

I am getting the same error as chromatica.

I was going to update my topic in the Anime & Video Game Music topic thread and then got a \’403 Forbidden Error\’ then the site went down… checked back in a few days \’Connection has timed out\’.

I didn\’t download anything between that point that would change my ISP or network settings, so after a few days, I get the same thing.

er, what? no one else indicated this was happening to them.

Hey, it happens to me – but I already understand enough about how things work to let it settle for 20 mins to an hour and come back when the server activity dies down. 😛 It’s not really the same as the Server Busy error, but it works almost like it.

I can’t access this site normally, only through proxy. And even then I’ll get "kicked out" after a while, and NO proxy will work for a good half-hour. Can anything be done about this, or will I have to just deal with it? 🙁

Edit: Not just this site, but all of ffshrine. 🙁
