I’ve been looking for a complete ripping of The Getaway’s soundtrack for years and never really found what I wanted, so I decided to do a little bit of DIY.
I’ve seen that quite many of you were looking for it too so here it is to download!
There are 41 different tracks in the game. But some of them are pretty similar to the ears, so I did my very best to distinguish the differences. Sometimes, you have to wait quite a long minute before you can actually hear the difference between two tracks. Some tracks are also played in several missions, that’s why some mission names are missing.
Here’s the contents of the archives:

Most of tracks are 2 to 4 minutes long. They always contain at least the first loop which may be repeated once or twice until it fades out.
I added the tracks that were available here (Thread 39809), copied by sam solid from the now-dead official website as they are not in the game (apart for the main menu theme).
I also included to bonuses: the crackhouse theme in a home-made extended version and a home-made map of London featuring some important places of the game as well as a few hidden cars and vehicles.
Enjoy!!!

can’t remember anything in particular about the music… gonna jog my memory! thanks 😉
Been meaning to do a complete rip myself though previous attempts didn’t find all the music i.e. the one that plays when you face the Yardies in the container yard.
I’m curious, how did you manage to rip all the tracks?

line-in rip 😉

I’m curious, how did you manage to rip all the tracks?line-in rip ;-)More tortuous than that, actually. Really some DIY.
I don’t have the right wire to plug my PS2 to my computer so I could not record the tracks directly from the PS2 on my computer.
So I plugged my PS2 to my DVD recorder instead; played the whole game once more, setting the game’s sound balance to ‘no sound/full music’, enabling the stereo mode and focusing on the tracks that were played.
Each time I heard a new track, I recorded it via my DVD recorder. Then, copied the movie files onto a DVD-RW, which I played on my computer while recording the sound with Audacity.
As for the music that plays in the container yard, there are actually two musics. Both are very short but the first one can only be heard at the beginning of the yard, where there are those very annoying big cranes, while the second starts when you’ve passed this area and you arrive in the meeting zone with all the trucks. That’s why the title of this track contains ‘(Furtive and Action Themes)’. I got them both into one unique track as they were too short to be 1 track each.
Same occurs in The Prodigal Son mission. When you are in the cave of the mansion, there’s one track. When you get to the stairs, a second one. And finally, once you enter the house and start climbing the rounded staircase, the first track starts again.
Also, the bonus extended version of the crackhouse theme (well-known on youtube and last.fm) is in fact a mixing of #23 and #35, for those of you who wondered.
Thanks for your comments, I’m glad you like it! 🙂
Very thankful you managed it.
Lovin that Yardie container yard choon, particularly near the end. ^_^
I still have to check the rip of Black Monday I found ages ago to see if it has all the music and retag it.
Very thankful you managed it.All in all, it took me about a week. But I really wanted the soundtrack for myself and playing the game again after so many years was not that terrible. 😉
I still have to check the rip of Black Monday I found ages ago to see if it has all the music and retag it.I don’t have Black Monday so I couldn’t do it anyway.

and once you’re done with retagging I hope you’ll post it here (again?) 😉
But when I zoom in very close onto a track with Audacity I can see differences (very tiny but still)… so I guess the stereo mode of the game does work.
But you know the song when you enter in the Republic, it’s not the full version right?
Here you can listen (in the first minute of the video) something which sound like the start of the Republic soundtrack :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKMv2lJY_xw
Do you know where can i have the full song of the republic i’m crazy about it.
Once more, great job.
From France, Kevin.
Yeah I will…… eventually ^_^
I started doing it but got bored doing so.
I need to play the game again to make sure no music is missing.
From what I rememeber the rip I have doesn’t have the full version of the credits.
Plus the fact the rip has music which never plays during the game (i.e. what seems to be a VIP/Remix of Klute’s "Hidden Hand" choon which I have to say I love ^_^) made the tagging process harder.

I think the one we have here is the full version.
This version sounds slightly different (i.e. it doesn’t have that effect of sounding like its playing in the background of a room): http://rapidshare.com/files/387242674/The_Republic.mp3
Not sure if that’s the one u r referring to.
And i wonder if there is a soundtrack where those two parts are together.
And i wonder if there is a soundtrack where those two parts are together.
Well thats from the rip in this thread: Thread 39809
Not sure if there’s a version with both those parts together, though I haven’t played the game for a while.

FYI as I said before this rip is incomplete and isn’t fully tagged.

But I have absolutely no clue about how this guy got this part of the track. I’ve waited ages in the restaurant and it was always the same loop playing. It’s problably a track never played in the game but still there in the files…
From a previous cutscene maybe…
Why don’t you ask the guy on youtube?
But there’s truly one song missing which I couldn’t rip. The song played when Charlie’s boys torture Mr Chai. It seems to be a real song, not composed by Andrew Hale, with real lyrics but since cutscenes are movies, the ‘no sound/full music’ option doesn’t work for them.
I forget the name of it but when I tried it I got the same incomplete result: a load of short clips of the music that you have to join and loop yourself to get the full track.
I you said me that you have waited in The Republic and it was always the same track, i will try to put them together, i will see if a free software can do that.
But I’m not sure it will sound good as youtube’s version has not the "coming-from-a-box" effect while mine (and the game’s) has.
It’ll sound really weird, imo.
But here’s what I meant by the "sounding weird". I just used Audacity to mix both tracks.

Well i will do that with audacity
Sorry but I can’t help you with this, all I can offer is my attempt, which at least joins both tracks just at the right moment.

The quality of the Republic Soundtrack (1min01) is really great, but the other Republic soundtrack (Mix) is too bad.
I forget the name of it but when I tried it I got the same incomplete result: a load of short clips of the music that you have to join and loop yourself to get the full track.Well, I think it’s the way the game plays the tracks.
In order to take less room on the disk (I guess), the tracks are divided into 3 or 4 seconds clips that the game knows how to assemble when the track has to be played. The reason I think this is that for each track I recorded, I could hear some tiny blanks quite regularly throughout the track, that’s problably the junction between two clips that was not really well made by the developers (or the composer himself).
Btw the song that plays when Sparky is torturing that Triad Chai is "C’mon" by Junior Senior:

btw the website tracks ARE in the game. they play during the cutscenes.
btw the website tracks ARE in the game. they play during the cutscenes.Very glad you like it and you’re right, actually, those tracks are in the cutscenes but in the cutscenes only. What I wanted to say is that you can’t hear them on their own because those cutscenes are videos with the sound and image pre-mixed together by the developers and not mixed during the game like the background themes.
Plus, you never hear them entirely. Really nice that sam solid recorded them before the official site broke down.
Quick question though: What part of the game is "Website Theme 3" in? I can’t recall ever hearing it in any cutscene or ingame…
Thanks, guys, for the kind words. 🙂
Mediafire glitch?
Mirror location anywhere?
Edit:
Downloaded via Mipony; disregard post.
Anyway, good thing you managed to get round the problem with Mipony (but what is it, actually?).
I read before Sony originally was planning to make a OST CD back in 2002 but it never actually was done.
LEGEND!!!
