here it is…
I have decided to start a new thread with this simply because the other thread is somewhat, well, you know!
First off, Let me sincerely apologise to those that have waited in vain for this to appear in better quality. I have had personal problems and they are what the term says, personal! so forgive me for not coming here giving you excuses etc. I did ask you guys to be patient, those that did, thanks; those that didnt, well, try to be less impatient in the future! the only person that is going to get ulcer or an abscess is you, not me!
I provided the community a 64k bit to begin with because the upload and download would be quicker and i honestly intended to upload a higher bitrate soon after, then things started to go to pot!
Secondly, Thanks for Walkers for being an intermediate between me and you guys in my absense and a big thanks to those that have defended me, which it appears to be not many!
Thirdly, i am truly sorry that Into the Storm has issues with me, i dont know the guy and he does not know me (on a personal level) I am sure we have met in different persona’s in the past, he clearly knows me from a past persona, but yet he has still to come forward and tell me who he is and how we know each other in the past.
Vosk, sorry you have issues with me too!
For those that do have issues with me that have obviously (so you say) had dealings with me in the past, be more manly about it and get in touch with me personally, that is the way to settle differences like men, not flame someone on a board for your own pleasure… it can always backfire on you!
This is my last post here. I have devised another forum to which i have invited a few people that i trust and i can call a friend! anyone here that feels they fit into that catagory then get in touch, or simply post here.
Anyone that has had flamed me here, although i find completely pathetic and amusing, i have no hardship over; in other words! it has not effected me in the way you probably wanted it to. My 14 year old son can do better! (so, used to it)
Now i am prepared to let bygones be bygones and extend the hand of friendship to both Into the Storm and Vosk and anyone else that would like to accept that offer of friendship on an internet level, cos lets face it, there is 1 person here that i am ever going to meet on a 1 to 1 basis, and that is my brother! everyone else here i would never ever expect to meet in my life, so why would i ever be bothered by anything negative you would have to say about me! especially over a score
Anyway, here it is, hope it was all worth it (i dont think it is) as the 64k was converted from wav files anyway in the best way possible! so not sure anyone other than your dog will benefit from this anyway!
It’s understandable you changed your mind about returning personally, and decided to make this your final posting.
It’s a hell of a swan song, that’s for sure.
See you….elsewhere. 😉
Thanks!!
The only thing I can tell you, as a film music lover, specially a lover of this genius called James Horner. Is many, many thanks for giving me the possibilty of getting this Avatar release.
Hope your personal problems have gone better. And be free to contact me in the future. Here or in other forums.
Thank you again!
Thank you for all of the hard work and effort of sharing the score with us!
The time of waiting was worth it! 😉
And ofcouse good luck with your family problems!
Probably is because my bad english but… First, for me 320k is fine (is like the 3CD edition…And 98% of what it is shared here) Do you mean that the 320k has a bad audio quality??
sorry, i’m just confused :S
(& yes I’m interested in any recommendations for other forums to visit!)
Cheers
Straxfan
aye i know they will my bruv.
Wait a fucking minute im not your BRUV!! goodness me what am i getting at!!
Im your lazy nutter bruv is what am i! 😀
Hopefully you remember me, maybe not… I used to talk to you years ago back in the Gamingforce days. My username was Basil there. I ditched GFF over a month ago as I refuse to put up with the negativity from the core community there. I gave up my moderator position, and to be honest, I couldn’t care less about what happens there anymore.
But anyway, I just heard about this upload from a friend an hour ago, and I almost never post here, let alone browse here. It’s not important to me that what appears to be a definite edition of Avatar’s score is now out there (I’m content with the CD release as is; I’m just glad we got a CD at all in this kind of economy!), but it’s great to see you still around these parts. I see in your main post that you’re leaving, a decision I can respect. Far too much drama on message boards, and just skimming the other Avatar 5CD thread you made and seeing a lot of the responses… it’s quite sad.
Maybe we can chat sometime? I post under the name Basil at places like the Film Score Monthly boards, and the Intrada boards. Feel free to send a PM if you manage to see this. If not, well, take care!
Yes, for the information of the tracks and its size they are clearly around 160k… Not that I’m complaining at it :). Maybe they come from another source.
Do you mean that in the "original" 5CD set those tracks came from lossy source and that’s why those tracks wouldn’t sound better at 320k? That is strange… But, the existence of the whole 5CD set is strange lol
Again, please, don’t think I’m complaining at all! I wanted to respond JayL, to let him note that I had also noticed that.
The source of this is 160k and 320k and Scoreman told me he didn’t want to re-encode the 160k tracks because that would ruin them.
But from a pure listening standpoint, regardless of what the numbers and tags and all that are, there is no audible difference here.
The sound quality is excellent.
Now if there’s a separate one with the original uncompressed WAVs, that’s a whole separate issue I know nothing about.
I wish you the best in all your future endeavors!
Sorry you faced such opposition because of the 64k version. I think some people should relax a bit and be patient instead of taking anything that gets posted here for granted. I didn’t really go into the problem too deep so I hope I haven’t stepped on anyones toes.
Anyways, cheers and – really – thank you for uploading this wonderful score 🙂
Flo
as i’ve experienced a lot in the past (esp with trailer music). Being patient is rewarding 🙂
Still, this the greatest forum exit of all time!
This shows you have true character.
Let me suck on your cock, so that it may cum
Outstanding of you to post this…despite having been thrown under the bus and driven over again and again and again…
I have never understood the overwhelming fanaticism for this movie and especially for this mediocre score (in my opinion)…
I just wanted to thank you, not for the 5CD 320kbps version (the 3CD 320kbps version is more than enough for me!), but for taking the "high road" after being brutalized with so much fanatic forum abuse. I do not know you personally or have ever communicated with you through any forum, however your conduct here truly speaks volumes about your character.
Also, sorry to see you go.
Respectfully,
dspani
Good luck to you in the future.
I have been around long enough to have at least witnessed the 64 kbps fiasco though. Let me tell you one thing- Don’t worry about some of those guys, seriously. Again, you have been a big help and contributor to a hobby of mine, and I hope the best for you in wherever you decide to go from here.
In the event that your new community needs some help getting started or is already established, feel free to PM me your plans of where you’re headed- I’d love to keep following your contributions. At the same token, my collection probably isn’t anywhere near as expansive as yours, but I’ve been known to have rarity or two. Let me know if there’s any OST/Score that YOU need.
Best of luck, and please feel free to PM your new plans if you wish!
Jade Raymond avatar. -points-
mmm.
Avatar really is a gorgeos score and even more so with your 5cd set 🙂
Thankyou for not hiding it away after all the abuse you got for the 64k version. I always thought of the 64k version as a preview version similar to the 64k I remember downloading for Revenge of the Sith.
Thankyou for your time as I am sure you got an awful lot of PMs that must have taken time to delete let alone read.
Thanks again and good luck in your new forum and this is certainly an excellent parting gift. Cheers!
You are the winner here and Im sad to see you go…
thanks again for Avatar and I sincerly hope that we havent seen the last of you on these boards…
cheers

Arigatougozaimasu!!
I did not stay by your side in this issue and (not that you care) did not change my mind because of the post. This was tooo loooooong of an issue with many many false promises and misunderstandings… and some people have had good reasons to be pissed off. No offense.
Nevertheless I must thank you for the post. I will now be able to make a more listenable selection with all stereo files, etc.
But in your text one phrase draw my attention:
Anyway, here it is, hope it was all worth it (i dont think it is) as the 64k was converted from wav files anyway in the best way possible! so not sure anyone other than your dog will benefit from this anyway!
Is it really possible not to make the difference between 64K and 320 files?
I’m not an expert in the field, may be you or somebody else can light my lantern here.
I did some test of spectrum in "Audacity" with the files. Essentially with "Jake enters his avatar world" because I have the official CD so I could make a lossless test also.
I don’t want to start a new polemic, OK?… simply question for this.
I’m ok with the files as it is, so no offense.
Here are the results for 20s beginning at 3min in the file "Jake enters his avatar world":
the 64K file spectrum goes from 3hz to 10,5 khz
the 3cd 320 k file goes from 3 hz to 19,3 KHZ
the 5CD 320 k file goes from 3hz to 19KHZ
the 320k mp3 imported in Itunes from lossless CD goes from 3HZ to beyond 21KHZ
The lossless Wav File (from official CD) goes from 3hz to beyond 21KHZ, the same spectrum as my 320 kbps import.
Cannot post the images of spectrums because cannot understand the attachment system here.
Nevermind, It happen though that the 64 k file have less spectrum than the 320 kbps files from 3Cd and 5CD editions. But the 320kbps imported by myself in Itunes has the same spectrum than the lossless wav from my official CD.
May be we cannot make the difference without scooby-doo ears but certainly there is a difference between the 64Kbps and the 320 kps files.
But I don’t understand why I can have more spectrum with my mp3 from the CD… Is this possible that mastering the CD they add more bass (the extra spectrum as I understand it)?
Again I’m OK with the post, so no need for polemics here.
If someone more aware of this issues could light my lantern it would be nice.
Thanks in advance.
And happy listening.
A big thank You !!!!! You are the man !!!!
Best regards
stm
Many thanks for this rip and I hope to see you somewhere in the future.

To be honest mate. Instead of writing here I suggest you remain happy with what you have. Because I certainly doubt that anyone here could help you with your question. And to be honest I don’t (and I could be wrong) think anyone really cares now that scoreman has posted the 320k rip.
The best way to answer your question might be to actually find out who mastered the official CD soundtrack and ask them.
simply curiosity.
As you understand it well I’m happy with the post.
no means to bother anyone.
The dog-ears-point stated in Scoreman post draw my attention…
curiosity (about dog-ears) killed the cat?

It can also depend on what program was used to make the mp3. If he was using an old encoder, the file would not have the same frequency range as using a newer/better encoder. Also who knows where scoreman’s cd set came from. If they were sourced from a 320kbps mp3 rip and he created 320 kbps encodes from them, frequency would suffer.
I’m not interested in Avatar, and have none of these files, so I can’t comment directly. But the Amazon mp3’s for Giacchino’s UP have a weaker frequency range than the iTunes AAC.
If all right with you, may I join your new forum? I had posted earlier within this thread, but forgot to ask about your new forum. Please PM if okay.
Also, outstanding to see all the well deserved positive comments!
Regards,
You’re my god
My 21 are long gone…
No how is it long before the whiners come out of the woodwork and complain that we still haven’t got a lossless version.
Listening to it now and loving it!
What a way to go out scoreman! Thanks again.

Once more, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.
(Sorry for my english’s google translate ^ _ ^)
Is it included and I made a mistake or that cue isn’t in this set?
I sincerely agree with this opinion and I’d love to follow scoreman wherever that forum is, too. Scoreman, if that’d be ok with you, could you invite me please? Thanks a million.
You will be missed.
Is it included and I made a mistake or that cue isn’t in this set?
The cue is "eyes open". The only thing missing are the drums that made it segues to the song which sounds different in the movie because they cut the intro.
I did a mix (with my humbles capacities so do not expect a wondrous edit) of the "eyes open" cue and a rip of the DVD to recreate the 7 minutes end titles. It is in 320 kbps but as "Eyes open" is a 160kbps quality in the 5cd set… well this part is transcoded to 320… But to me it sound good.
Enjoy.

Good job on this; great quality. Thanks for sharing! Only issue is that the track inexplicably changes key at the moment the end titles begin (the drums, right after "eyes open"). I’m pretty sure it’s not this way in the film.
Enjoy
I’m new to this forum, I found you’re Avatar 5CD score, and it sounds awesome from the comments – exactly what I was looking for – but…
the link to megaupload doesn’t work anymore, is this just my internet, or have you removed it?? :/
I’m looking at: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OG0L3IPZ

And thanks boosterrr, I waited paciently till Scoreman uploaded it, but I had too much to do in the last months and I forgot to look for it. Today I found this thread and I was so sad the original file wasnt available anymore. Thanks for the re-upload!
