support characters? I’m guessing you mean Synergist and then no, because they only buff your team. If you men’t ‘foe’ as either ally or foe then no again. They buff whoever hasn’t got the buff that everyone else has

Support characters meaning, the rest of my party. Seems like even with battle parties… Commando, Commando, Commando & Commando, Commando, Ravager… the rest of my party attacks whoever they want.

well Commando’s attack seperate enemies (unless theres only one enemy of course), Ravagers should attack the party leaders target, Sentinels counter-attack whoever attacks them, Synergists buff party members with the least amount of buffs, Saboteurs attack whoever the party leaders target is and then once they have all the de-buffs they attack whoever has the least de-buffs and medics heal the person with the least health.

I suspect why you think your party attacks whoever they want is because you have more then one Commando in your party so your 2 commando’s will attack separate enemies. Hope that helped ^^

Really? Dunno. I always keep Sazh as a ravager. Seems like that’s his best role IMO, him under commando he seems to do less damage.

I like having him be a Commando for Blitz, which might be why I don’t notice it much if he is "off target."

Ooo okay. Yeah most of the time I have him as Ravager, since I have Lightning spam ruin and attack.

Vanille? Oh god lol. I just use her as a Medic or a Synergist. Her ravager skills are okay, but not as good as Hopes. I have a hard time playing as Snow lol, since he needs to get all the way up to the enemy before striking.

He has launch, so he can get his Lord of Tekken on and airjuggle. That’s good enough for me. I do sorta want to use Hope but I need a Saboteur and Vanille fits the bill.

I quite love her, but for some reason I don’t fully care to use her. Just like Selphie in VIII 🙁

Oo yeah. Launch is an awesome skill. Yeah I have to agree on you with Vanille, she has her uses as a Saboteur because earlier in the story she has that Deprotect and Deshell skill, very useful against more difficult enemies or at least it makes it easier to get them to Stagger lock.

I noticed this also, even with maxed weapons and strength accessories.

I had my strat guide for ffxiii lying around and a friend saw Sazhs’ picture. He proceeded to ask……. "why do all the black FF characters have guns".

Sazh doesn’t come off as stereotyped to me at all. He’s witty, but he’s not goofy comic relief. He’s really serious the vast majority of the time. He’s also a father figure to Vanille, let alone his torment over his situation as it relates to Dajh.

I’m not saying those last two have anything to do with stereotyping. I just spilled into gushing over him in general.

LOL! Actually if you think about it, look at Barrett from FFVII, he had a gun as well. Then again yeah Sazh doesn’t exactly fit the stereotype because like Neg said, he’s witty, like a comical character to clear the tension in the game. Kinda like that part where you had to play as Sazh and Vanille. The music in the background made me laugh because it was more jazzie then serious.

Ironically enough, according to Wikipedia Tetsuya Nomura based Sazh’s character design on Lionel Ritchie. Whether that’s true or not is anyone’s guess – any similarities to 70’s pop singers may just be coincidence. :p

Lightning and Fang both have blitz and are both better than Snow at the commando role.

Vannile is too weak to be a commando. She is a good medic but Hope is better than her. I hardly ever use Vannile. Actually, I have not been on XIII for nearly 2 weeks. If I leave it much longer I’ll just forget about it completely.

Since when do I play characters because of abilities? 😉 That is one thing I like about XII and VI. You can make anyone anything you want, and the differences are minimum.

I love Snow and Sazh and they cover a good deal of roles. If I have to, I’ll keep Vanille around til post-game. But, I want to use Hope because I like him as a character.
