Hello there, gentlemen. How many people in these forums like Deus Ex? Being a huge fan of the game, I’m glad they are developing a new iteration to the series. They’ve recently released a new teaser of the title, as you can see in this youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvBY9wF-Dqw

What are your thoughts about this? Do you think the game is going to be good? How’s your excitement level? 🙂 Share your opinions.

Here’s what I think:

The first one is timeless. I’m actually playing it again right now, and I’m at the NSF base. I’ve played through it multiple times, and I love it the same each time.

The second one starts out so good. But about 2 hours in, I just lose all interest in it.

As for the new one…

I watched the trailer, and I had to hold back groans. Way to go Squenix. You managed to make a cyber-punk freeform first-person adventure game look like Final Fantasy XIV. Square was a bad choice. I’m going to reserve most of my judgement for when I see some gameplay vids, but this could go either way. It could be better than the first, or it could be a Weeaboo, emo-goth masturbation fantasy. It’s hard to tell right now, but I’m leaning to the latter judging by the trailer.

As long as they keep the original game’s formula on this one, it should be good. It must have a good balance between FPS and RPG elements, a compelling and interesting story (that respects the first game’s canon) and the same "non-linearity" typical of the series. Also, some new features should be implemented, so that the gameplay does not get completely reused and falls into unoriginality.

I’ve read in some website that the developers won’t create a multiplayer system for the game. So we’ll stick only to the singleplayer campaign, which in my opinion is quite good, since they won’t lose time in unnecessary things and will concentrate on refining the game’s story and mechanics.

I agree completely, oegp. I’m glad that they aren’t tacking on a half-assed multiplayer. That’s some good news.
