Xbox 360 DLC question

Since I bought my Xbox 360 Elite (To replace my RROD one, which has lasted me since June of 2006: A first generation one) I’ve had some problems with the Downloaded Content. If my console isn’t connected to my ADSL modem, I get error messages when I try to play a game which has DLC. Something like ‘Content corrupted. Download again’ etc. Yet when I plug it back in to the modem, it works good as gold. I know with games like Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 you do need to be connected online, to be able to use the items you download from the Dragon Age Servers/Cerberus Network, but I have games like Saints Row 2, Overlord and Grand Theft Auto IV (The Lost and the Dammed and The Ballad of Gay Tony mini expansions), where there is no check or connecting to a server to be able to play them.

Is there a way for me to somehow ‘lock’ that content to my new console, so I can play the games without having to be connected to my ADSL? Any info would be appreciated.

*frown* That’s very odd. I’ve never come across that particular problem, but I did come across something similar.

A while ago, I downloaded Worms Armageddon. After downloading some level packs, I then disconnected and forgot about it for some time. THEN, I tried to play it…no dice.

Following the console’s advice, I deleted and downloaded everything again. Still no luck. It wasn’t until I actually tried to play the game WHILE logged into XBL that I got a prompt to download a patch. Now, it works like a charm.

That might be what you need to do in this case. Try logging into all your games you’re having trouble with(pay special attention to the ones you’ve downloaded content for after the game came out), and see if you get a similar prompt.

As for items from Mass Effect 2 or Dragon Age, I’ve never had a problem using them offline(though I’ve only pulled stuff like the Blood Dragon armor, Warden’s Keep, Normandy Crash Site, etc). Is this some new thing that just came into play?

When I sent my 360 in, I got it back and I think that they reset the entire system. Even though I had DLC, apparently, it needs to be on that particular system unless you’re hooked up to Live. There’s a guide on xbox.com on how to put the licenses from your DLC on your old system to your new one. What I ended up doing was calling them and told them my problem. It took them a week, but they authorized my gamertag to redownload the licenses to the DLC I had by just redownloading the content (the system knows you had it before so it’ll be free).

I’d try that guide first before calling for support.

As far as I know its a problem thats not been addressed by microsoft. But they might of sorted it out. you should ask on xbox forums.

They just don’t want someone to use another’s gamertag to have access to DLC if it wasn’t purchased (which is why if that DLC is on a different Xbox than the one the DLC was originally purchased on, it can’t be accessed offline because that Xbox doesn’t have the license) on that console. It’s just a matter of transferring the licenses of the DLC from one console to another.

Thanks for the info. I had this problem too, but gave up a long time ago on the 360.

You’ve gotta retransfer your licenses, bud. Because you bought a new system, the license won’t recognize it unless you’ve signed on to X-Box Live.

Calling customer support and asking for a license transfer’d probably get you set up in a couple of days if you haven’t already used the transfer tool on Microsoft’s X-Box site.
